This review is more like 2.5 stars than 2. I came here twice for breakfast during my stay at the Hilton– the first time I ordered the heart healthy wrap, which was basically an egg white burrito and the second time I ordered the egg white frittata. The first day the food was pretty good, nothing special, service was decent and pretty friendly. My only complaint was that my dish was supposed to come with«fruit» and only came with one strawberry which I feel is pointless in even listing as «fruit» if they will only include one piece of fruit. The second day however, we waited for ten minutes before a server even came over to take our orders, not to mention we had to flag her down. After placing our orders she seemed a bit shocked/annoyed that we would order anything and not just go to the buffet. Our food took 45 minutes to come out, and came out cold. Now I can understand if they food takes awhile with a packed restaurant and a busy staff but save for one other family who had already received food, we were the only people there ordering. Not to mention our food came out cold and lacking any toast, sausage, or fruit as described on the menu. All in all prices were very expensive for what you were getting($ 13 for egg whites I could’ve whipped up in 5 minutes and $ 3 for a regular, no frills cup of coffee) and I was not pleased with the wait at all.

This is not a steakhouse, this is a hotel restaurant with the steakhouse name. I was staying at the Hilton and had been there two nights in a row. The first night I ate at the bar and it was a pleasant experience, mainly because of the bartender, Andy. I give that night 3 ½ stars. The second night I ate in the restaurant on a Thursday night, which I’ll give 2 ½ stars. There was literally no one there except myself, see photo. The service was very good, the food was adequate. There was nothing wrong with the steak, but nothing making it worth $ 35-$ 40 for the steak alone. The potatoes were at best adequate, maybe left over from the day before. They got my drink order wrong, but I drank it anyway, my bad. If you’re staying at the hotel and don’t have a car, it’s kind of your only choice. If it weren’t for the very high prices, I would give it more stars. However, I had the«in-house special,» and it was still almost $ 70 for one person(with tip)… that’s a lot to pay for a very average meal. They also make a big deal about the theme being Don Shula’s 1972 undefeated season. That was 44 years ago… does anyone really care(I don’t)? It’s certainly not worth paying 30 to 40% more for a meal because of some long-ago sports achievement.

AMAZING! Service was excellent starting with Shendra the hostess and Jamie our waiter. Steaks were tender, aged and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the crab Mac and cheese. Save room for dessert, chocolate lava must be ordered as they cook just for you! We have been to numerous steak houses in the country, some too noisy, this was private and intimate and not rushed. I would give this THEBEST!

It was ok for what it was worth. Steak wasnt anything to write home about but the service was great. They put a dirty football on my table before we ate and talked about it. I give it a 3 out of 5.

Shula’s Steakhouse in the Hilton Hotel on W. Broad street in Richmond, Va. has a wonderful staff. My hostess, Stephanie, was energetic and polite. I went to the bar with my brother and his girlfriend and we had red wine and the molten lava cake. The dessert was presented piping hot, served with fresh whipped cream. They were out of the Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream, so Celeste, the manager brought out a heaping serving or the chocolate instead. Our bartender, Margaret, was friendly, energetic, efficient, and engaged in the service. I highly recommend this venue!

We made a reservation yesterday for 4 people for lunch at 1pm. When we arrived the hostess told us they were full and it would be at least 30 – 45 minutes to sit in dining room but we were welcome to sit in the bar area. With our parents so the bar area isn’t really where we want to spend Easter brunch. My fiancé walked through the dining room and saw 4 open tables. We asked to speak with a manager who again told us they were completely full and was very apologetic. We told her we just saw 4 tables and she had no response so we told her we were going elsewhere and she apologized again. We also heard another party of 4 complaining that they waiting over 35 minutes after ordering and still hadn’t received their food. Moral of the story, go elsewhere especially on a holiday weekend or when you are on a time limit. We’d eaten here before so we’re very disappointed in our experience today.

I went there on business the day after Valentine’s Day there was nobody in the place which usually scares me because I went to the Shula’s in Manhattan years ago it just opened the place was empty and the food was subpar but this place was great my New York Strip was cooked medium just as I asked, the side dishes were great, as for price I wasn’t the one who paid the bill but overall I had a great experience, plenty of people serving our table even though we were only a party of 5. If I’m ever in the area again I won’t hesitate to go back.

Meat quality is on par with expectation of that price range. The aged bone in ribeye is excellent. Shula is more famous in Orlando than in Richmond. In Richmond, Shula is only treated as a typical restaurant in a hotel. You know what it means.

Andy is the bartender in the lobby and he makes the best drinks! He is always on point. I have eaten at the bar a few times. The steak tips are pretty good without the pepper. Service is always great here!

I’m deleting a star from my original review because… wait for it… the server autogratted us last night! Have you ever heard of a server adding her own gratuity on a party of TWO before? We haven’t. I was a server & bartender in college at a zillion places and no one added it unless it was a party of 5. The food and service were actually both great last night, but that was the last straw. It was completely unclassy and inexcusable. We will be spending all of our $$$ in the city of Richmond limits from now on. Screw you Shula’s and Short Pump.

Worst service I’ve received in a long time. I needed to ask for bread after they had forgotten, the servers forget an appetizer and a side dish, they don’t fill the water until after the meal and the served 3 filet mignons to the wrong people. We had a couple of different servers, and still we infrequently saw either or or the bus person. Definitely not worth the cost. We will not be returning to a Shula’s.

Within my last two visits the tasty food was outdone by the magnificent service. My two previous secondary servers Teddy and Nate displayed dedication, hospitality, and fantastic attitudes while treating my wife and I to a fantastic array of bread and water to go with our steaks. Enjoy the tips gentleman!

Stayed in the Hilton and ordered room service. It was fantastic! We were able to order off the restaurant menu instead of just the room service menu. We had the prime rib, creamed spinach, crab Mac and cheese, and potatoes a gratin ! Every thing was absolutely delicious! I will say that it is a little pricey, but we have no regrets. Crab Mac and cheese is AWSOME! Service was fantastic. This morning we had breakfast in the restaurant. Probably one of the best hotel breakfast buffets I have ever eaten. Service was outstanding and attentive. Highly recommend, but be prepared to pay.

Went here for lunch. On Friday. I guess the reason most steakhouses are not open for lunch is that the ‘B’ team is in. We had to search for the server to order drinks, order, ask for water, you name it. They served limes that were first cut during the Eisenhower administration and was told that«they don’t have a bartender» The BBQ shrimp appetizer was a big shrimp, wrapped in a piece of bacon, fries to a blackened crisp, and then drowned in BBQ sauce. The steak was good and cooked properly, but for $ 48 shouldn’t it be? The sides(spinach and fries) were both oily, and neither were hot, over $ 150 for a lunch that any chain(including IHOP or Applebee’s) could have done a much better job. Maybe the spa(that they share a bathroom with) is nice. If. You want to see some replica Dolphins stuff, hurry! Because this place won’t be in business much longer.

A friend and I decided to splurge and try this restaurant for the convenience that it was located at the hotel that I was staying at. Here we spent over a $ 100 for horrible food and cold service. Two other tables and with our waitress you have thought the place was full. All I heard were complaints from the table next to ours which should have thrown up red flags but I just figured they were picky or trying to score some discounts on the tab. I now know I should have acknowledged this warning. I truly expected much more considering price. 2 Stars because the food was edible and the experience didn’t make me throw my plate at the wall.

I was expecting more for the money! Don’t get me wrong, the service and overall experience was good. The Waitress did an excellent job and the atmosphere was nice for our group. Where it went wrong was with the food. This was Thanksgiving day, they were not particularly busy despite it being hard to book other locations. This probably should have been the first indication to me that something was wrong :). We all choose the Turkey Meal. Which was dry and barely warm. The vegetables were good, but also barely warm. And the portions were small. I don’t mind paying the money for good food, but that was not the case here. Small portions, lukewarm and just barely edible stuffing. I will not likely go back. There are much better options out here!

It was just«so-so». I was hoping for a fantastic steak dinner all I got was an okay dinner. Frankly for the price I should’ve going to Longhorn. Oh and by the way, I would never go to Longhorn. I felt it was overpriced for mediocre quality, you can only live so long on the name alone.

I have been to this restaurant twice now and I waited until after the second visit to write the review so that I could be fair. The first time was so bad that I don’t even want to talk about it. So we went back to see if they could redeem themselves, and they did for the most part, at least a little bit. Great location. Right in the heart of short pump so it’s very easy to get to and they have plenty of parking. If you aren’t staying in the hotel it might be kind of confusing to get to because you have to walk a ways on the inside until you find the restaurant and the signage is confusing and doesn’t really stand out. Food(4.5 Stars) Everything we got tasted great. From the bread & butter, to the lobster bisque and the french onion soup, and of course the filet mignon. The steak is very good. Drinks(4 Stars) Got a dirty martini and an espresso for after dinner. Decent drink selection, and the martini was awesome. Service(4 Stars) We actually had the same waiter as our first original visit and I thought he did a really good job this time around. Was very attentive. Kept the drinks filled. Price(1 Star) It’s expensive. And I didn’t leave feeling like I was getting my money’s worth. That is the main reason why this place is getting 3 stars. It’s hard to justify the price when you can pay less for most of the other really nice steak restaurants in Richmond.

Had Breakfast bar here, chef that cooked the eggs crappy mood and not very welcoming. If I were to add another restaurant to the list of improve or close your doors it would be this place. Like the OWNER lost interest in a hobby restaurant that has potential. You see the name Shula to me that means excellence, well in sports maybe in the restaurant business. Eh! One great loss here would be the Server Murat(Pronounced More Rot) He was professional, courteous and friendly. In my opinion he is wasting his talents as a high end server at this low end restaurant. The bar area is the shining star for this place but I could not tell if it was Shula or not. So think of them as 2 different places and go to the bar you will not be let down.

As a frequent traveler to Richmond, I’ve stayed at the hotel that houses this restaurant many, many times. I’ve eaten here about three times as well(out of necessity — more on that in a second), and every time I’ve been disappointed. The servers are simply not equipped to actually answer questions about the menu, which is probably why they make themselves so scarce. And I agree with another reviewer here: the Shula’s shtick is a little over-the-top as an introduction patter. Unfortunately, there isn’t much else near this hotel(aside from an equally unfulfilling mexican place) so unless you have a car, you don’t have many options… I guess the moral is to always rent a car when you’re in Richmond!
