I’ve heard the food from this place is good so I decided to try it out. Service: –Nothing special –Friendly enough –Did not check on me during mean so I had to approach them to ask for things. Food: –Did not like the veggie phở at all –Large plate so its a good price if you like it. Although phở is something hard to take home(I didnt.)

**3.5 stars So this place isn’t terrible. But the server didn’t really seem to know anything. Whenever we asked a question he would just say he didn’t know. The bubble teas are made fresh. I got the shaky beef which was pretty good but a smaller portion. It took really long to get the bubble tea. Like a very unreasonable time for drinks. I would come back and give this place another try though.

The Phở at Saigon with all types of beef had more meat in the bowl than any other Phở I have had in Richmond. Price for large bowl $ 8.95.

This was the worst food I have had for a while. Everyone in my group disliked their food. It was bland, the texture was bad, and it wasn’t served hot. Also, I found it very overpriced for what we got. I had to immediately get a snickers bar at a convenience store to get the taste out of my mouth. The sad thing is that I went here a few years ago and remember enjoying my meal there. Maybe it was an off evening, but it is probably the worst thing I have ever eating in recent memory.

Not a bad place, but definitely not as good as phở so one. It was convenient since it was close though. I would go again if I couldn’t make it to phở so one.

The phở here isn’t very good. I came here when it was freezing & the phở kept me warm… but it’s nothing compared to the phở you can get in Northern Virginia. I ordered the beef phở & they definitely skimped out on the meat. Also, the small bowl is REALLY small– it would only fill up a child. My friends had both the vegetarian spring rolls & the regular spring rolls. «Meh» was their reaction after the first bite. Rice vermicelli took up 90% of the rolls; they skimped out on the meat & vegetables here as well. The owners/staff weren’t too friendly, they acted like we were inconveniencing them. Overall, I would not go here for phở again.

I enjoy ordering the phở on cold days. It definitely warms you up and fills you up! Best phở I’ve had in Richmond, and love that it’s very close to my work!

It wasn’t the best phở I’ve ever had, but it satisfies the craving and it’s pretty convenient. The broth in my opinion was a bit lacking, it needs something more to make it stand out.

the restaurant does not look like much. the bathroom was not clean. the owners who did the cooking and serving seemed a bit unfriendly. but the stir fried vegetarian dish was very good and the crispy vegetarian rolls(v11) was excellent.

Food was very good when I went, but the atmosphere was pretty bad. .. my friend and I felt like we were inconveniencing the staff the entire time we were there. The restaurant itself was small but clean. Would not recommend going here, but maybe order take out if they offer it!

PHO-KINGBAD! 5pm — my first meal of the day. I was hungry enough to eat a plate of clay. Ordered Veggie Phở. It was basically hot water with stale veggies — so old that the carrots had turned brown. So I added every available condiment including the peanut sauce from the stale spring roll. It still couldn’t rescue the phở-king bowl. The most flavor in there were the somewhat dry jalapeños. I always order the XL bowl for my Phở dose but fortunately today the PhoGods were looking out for me and I ordered a L bowl of hot water. I left the place as hungry as I walked in but plenty angry. Phở’Real the worst food phở sure. (Lesson learned: if you want real veggie phở in Richmond or in the country, drive like 10mins to Phoenix Garden on Brook Road)

i went to this place like a year and a half ago and I’m still upset at how bad it was. My boyfriend and I went in for lunch and we were the only ones there. I was trying to incorporate more vegetarian items into my diet so I ordered the veggie phở. It was the biggest waste of money and to this day I am still mad I even paid for what I got. The broth might have well been water but the worst part was the vegetables. They were not fresh. They had been pre-cut and the edges had browned. I basically paid to have old vegetables swimming in hot water that I only downed maybe 20% of. The phở I got here makes Cup O Noodles seem like fine dining.

I had never heard of this restaurant before coming, my friend and I tried it out because it looked like a hole in the wall. The service was very friendly and fairly quick. There was very nice outdoor seating that overlooked Grace St. We both got phở and I got dumplings as an appetizer. The dumplings were pretty good, but the phở was some of the best I’ve had. The price is absolutely right, too. Highly recommend.

This was a nice Vietnamese restaurant, nice portions but I wouldn’t say amazing. It is located smack dab in the center of VCU in Richmond, so I’m sure they get lots of college kids, who don’t tip or bag out on a bill. We had dumplings, that were ok, phở that was ok and vegetables and rice.

I used to come here every week when I was a student and the tofu lemongrass was my favorite. I am so disappointed now! After they changed owners the portions shrank dramatically and food went downhill. Now the flavor is nothing like it was! I ordered today and my tofu lemongrass is literally three pieces of tofu in soy sauce SOUP! No lemongrass. Pretty sure this was my last visit.

Always great phở and great prices. I recommend the fresh rolls with a small bowl of phở with beef flank, and brisket. There’s hardly ever any customers whenever I go, but the food is always good.

If you’re trapped on campus or near the West Franklin corridor and in need of phở, Saigon is a decent place to get your fix. Sure, there are better places that are farther in the Near West End area, as other reviewers have pointed out, but I’ve never had an experience as awful as some other folks have described. The fresh spring rolls and phở are in the B+ category, they won’t blow you away, but they hit the spot at a good price. The outdoor patio is nice on spring/summer afternoons and has enough tables for a bigger group of friends. The waitstaff has always been pretty nice to me, and the young man who usually waits on most of the tables is very friendly and willing to describe menu items in detail. Splitting checks or appetizers has never been an issue at all. I’ve gotten phở as takeout there before, and while you have to know exactly what you want on the phone, it’s never taken more than 15 minutes to get ready. The portions are exactly the same as what you get when you dine in(ie. enormous), they come with all the limes/basil/sprouts/etc in a container, and they’re willing to pack up extra condiments for you if you want(hoison sauce, spicy peppers, etc). Maybe I’m a fool, but if you’re nearby, Saigon deserves a chance. Lord knows sometimes you just need phở!

This place is just bad. The lady who took my order was very rude. So I was really hoping that the food would speak for itself and this restaurant would have some sort of redemption. The food was horrible. I ordered a dish with tofu and it came with four small pieces of tofu. All of it was cold. The soup was bad. Also, I ordered an egg roll that ended up being a bunch of ingredients wrapped up in saran wrap. I don’t know who would eat that, or even find it appealing. Don’t go here. Go to Panda Veg or Mama’s kitchen.

Ok, first off… I should mention that I’m Vietnamese and so I’m very biased when it comes to Vietnamese food… which is why I don’t usually review Vietnamese restaurants. That being said, I disliked this restaurant so much that I had to say something. The food here is definitely not authentic Vietnamese, it’s more of a Chinese-Vietnamese mix. Also, the waiters here don’t even speak Vietnamese(at least not when I came). I ordered in Vietnamese and the lady who I was speaking to told me she only spoke Chinese. As for the food, it’s very greasy and the flavor is off… definitely more Chinese than Vietnamese. I’m not 100% sure what it is that they do differently, but I know one thing, they use a lot more Sesame Oil than they should. If you’re stuck on the VCU campus and are craving something Vietnamese-ish, this will do. But if you have a car, I’d definitely recommend going down W Broad St to the other Vietnamese restaurants instead.
