The owner is friendly and chatty, the home décor made from recycled materials is creative and lovely, and MAN do the soaps and lotions smell great! I bought two beautiful-smelling lotions(rose and lemongrass), both of which have left my hands feeling soft and moisturized without any grease factor. Nor could I resist a bar of the star anise soap… MMM. I will certainly be back!

Megan pretty much covered it all, but yeah, this place is great. You will almost always find them out at the festivals and are shows around town. I love the scrap soaps that are available. I bought some in a beautiful old mason jar.

Row House Soaps makes all-natural soaps in a variety of scents and for a variety of purposes. There’s a soap that repels bugs, a soap to remove kitchen scents, and even a soap for pets. There are also scented soaps like lavender and lilac. You’ll even see a few named for popular places in Virginia. Owner/soap maker Michael Walsh is one of the nicest store owners around. He’s almost always got hot coffee and he welcomes just about anyone to partake of a cup, sit a spell and learn how soap is made. Along with his soaps and lotions, you’ll find antiques and items he’s made from antiques. If you’re lucky, you’ll see some of the mirrors and pictures he makes from reclaimed wood from old buildings around town. He has trouble keeping them in stock because they’re so popular. You’ll also find a collection of antique soaps near the register. All around, this is a fun shop with lots to look at. If you go by on a Saturday you may want to call first. The owners often attend local festivals on weekends and therefore their store is closed.
