Pronto’s Restaurant & Pizzeria

I have been a regular for several years, not by choice but because my parents like this place. The food is hit and miss. The service is just as unpredictable. Pronto’ sells hit an all time low last night. I was with two other people, we all ordered subs. The subs are supposed to be heated. The server delivered our meals and then went to get her purse and left, saying she would be back soon. You could tell that the sandwiches had been heated at some point, but were cold by the time they reached us. I typically would have politely asked for a fresh sandwich, which wouldn’t have been such an issue. However there wasn’t anyone to ask. We didn’t eat the sandwiches or fries, finally a lady came up to us and asked if we would like a box. We told her no and that the food was cold. She then brought the check to us and we were charged for the disgusting previously heated sandwiches. Not once did a server come by to check on us, to refill drinks or to make themselves available. At the end the server took our plates full of food, never offered to redo the sandwiches or to take them off the check. This is the worst customer service. A customer that dines at Pronto’s should lower their expectations when it comes to decent food and service. This isn’t the first time I’ve been annoyed with this establishment but they really pushed it last night. Another issue I have had in the past is that their credit card machine doesn’t work due to IT complications. Instead of informing customers before hand that they can only take cash, they ask for your credit card info and manually write it on a piece of paper and leave it where anyone can access the information. Your information isn’t secure and you are not informed of the issue before you sit down to eat. Once you finish your meal they just take your card info as if it is acceptable practice. I have on several occasions left the party I was with and went to get cash so as not to risk any issues with credit card fraud. Shady at best. Just makes things right! I’m not looking for anything free or a bribery for lousy service. If I don’t what I ordered due to the kitchen/​service either take the food and replace it or remove it from the check. Not even an apology! Will not be returning!

Best calzone I’ve ever had, and it’s huge too. The tiramisu was pretty good, could have used a little bit more espresso but overall definitely not disappointed.

I ordered a pizza for delivery. While delivery was on time and courteous, the pizza and mozzarella sticks left something to be desired. One of the toppings i paid for was not on the pizza at all and it was scarcely topped as it was. The mozzarella sticks tasted like something you would buy out of a grocery store freezer section. Thought the pizza itself tasted decent, if you are going to charge per topping, I would like to get what i pay for.

Very good New York style pizza. Probably more of a 3 ¾ stars as it’s not quite on a par with most pizza places that I rate as 4 stars, but still very good. Saw some reviews about there being tons of cheese on a regular pie, but I found that not to be the case. In fact, I might consider extra cheese next time around. Ordered through GrubHub and got it within about 35 minutes, so they work fast.

This is our go-​to for pizza delivery–
Nothing crazy exceptional (we always order cheese and/​or pepperoni pizza so it may be our fault… we did try the wings once — they are NOT «Buffalo style» despite being told over the phone that they were, I digress), always reliable and enjoyable.

This review is only for the white pizza, it’s phenomenal. I’m from NJ, so I’m accustomed to good pizza and this certainly fits the bill!

We enjoy the pizza here a lot, it reminds me of NY style pizza and is one of my top 5 pizza joints in Richmond. I don’t understand why it’s almost never busy in the evening, I imagine that the lunch business keeps them going being that they are in reasonable proximity to St Mary’s and Health South and other offices. Anyway, the service is always spot on and we have always had great food. They have some lunch combos, nice salads also beer on tap served in icy cold glasses. They are no longer serving any lamb, which I overhead the waitress telling a table next to ours. Go and enjoy some pizza and beer.

I LOVE any place whose pizza reminds me of home, which for me is NYC — so I am somewhat of a pizza snob.
They are reasonably priced and have always delivered quickly.

I just happened to see this place driving by and thought I’d check it out. Really great! Calzone was crispy and had just the right amount of filling. More than I could eat. I will definitely visit this place again.

I love New York style pizza, this obviously isn’t the real deal BUT it’s VERY close! I was very impressed with the cheese pizza, I found it hard to stop at one slice… or two for the matter! :) Try this place you wont be disappointed. I’m unable to comment on the atmosphere as I ordered take-​out.

Craving a steak and cheese, weather is frigid so I don’t want to go too far from home, so we venture over to Pronto. The sandwiches didn’t disappoint… we also shared a slice so we knew if we’d want to try that again next time, also very good — crisp crust, right amount of sauce & plenty of cheese that actually had flavor. Service on the other hand left something to be desired, no napkins or utencils, took a while for ketchup & parm cheese and she forgot our fries. We will go back, but may take our chances with takeout.

This is my favorite pizza place. It’s real pizza, great taste, the sauce is good and it’s not too much, not too little, just right. The cheese pizza is good but the extra cheese pizza is better! My boyfriend also likes their ground beef on the pizza. I go out of my way to stop there and get pizza. The restaurant itself is clean and neat, good for lunch or dinner with family or friends.

Great pasta and salads. I had the Veal Parmigiano one night and I had leftovers for two more meals.

Regular spot of mine for pizza. It’s decent New York-​style pizza. Sometimes, it’s great, but most of the time, they just put way too much cheese on the pizza. I know I sound like a whatever, but it’s about balance. We’re not children, we’re adults. I don’t want a pound of mozzarella (moozarrrrrelll) on a slice of pizza. I want the right amount, dammit.
My main complaint with this place is they just don’t really get how the slice shop concept is supposed to work, or they’ve determined that it’s not for them. While they do sell pizza by the slice, their way of doing this is to have a cheese pie, and then just top it to order. This is fine for like pepperoni or sausage, but it’s no good for vegetables. I ordered a slice with peppers and onions once, and they served me a cheese slice with basically warm, but raw peppers and onions on top. Vegetables need to cook with the pizza so they marry together. What a shitty slice that was.
A slice shop is supposed to have like six pies that they cook and reheat slices of. They worried about food waste? A pie is like two bucks worth of ingredients — I used to be a pizza maker. You shouldn’t need a server. You go up, you order the slices you want, they stick it in the oven, and then call you when it’s ready. There’s your freakin’ pizza shop. What they’ve got here is some farkakte Italian restaurant that looks dingy, sells a bunch of crap and undermines their best thing — the pizza. Get it together, Pronto!
Now when I go, I just order two cheese slices and a soda — ten bucks after tip. A little steep for two slices and a coke, but whatever. Three stars, that’s all you get, pal.

Found these guys on Unilocal after clicking on 3 other restaurants that supposedly delivered based on a search that did not. Glad I clicked on their listing.
Food I have tried has been good and was exactly what I expected.
Most importantly, they delivered and arrived quickly. The delivery driver who I have seen a few times now has been professional and comes all the way to my actual hotel room, not just the lobby.
Glad I found these guys on Unilocal.They are now my go to guys in Richmond when I am here on business.

Sandwiches to go where stale and dry.
The nice young lady who took my order belied the quality of the sandwiches I finally received. I have had better in years gone by, and was disappointed that the service was better than the food.
I don’t know that I can recommend Pronto’s There are just so many better places in Richmond.

This place makes pizza how it should be made. Home style not Pizza Hut or PJs. Plus they actually make a calzone correctly with ricotta. This is our new o to for pizza!

I always forget about this place. But I was starving and craving New York pizza. It filled the bill – a pool of gooey cheese and lots of pepperoni! Yum! The garlic bread was a little over-​toasted and burned but I’d give it another try. I’ll definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

You cannot beat a huge $ 2 slice of pizza for lunch. Honestly.
The mista salad is good too, and the vinaigrette that comes with it earned a repeat customer.
The sandwiches and subs were decent; the only complaint I had that it came with nasty, generic-​tasting potato chips.
