Used to really like coming here. No more draft list, waitresses have attitudes and my tuna melt and my wife’s nachos were cold and her sour cream smelled funny. Got here at 8:50 on a Sunday evening, website says they’re open until 10. Overheard the waitress inform the kitchen staff that she told us they’re closing(she didn’t). But the topper was when a group of gay dudes two booths over very loudly shared their graphic homosexual diatribes with the entire restaurant, so much it drowned out the fairly loud music. I’m not a homophobe but there’s a time and place for everything. Think we’re done with this place.

Food is really good! The BBQ sandwich and club sandwich are my favorites. My mom had their soft shell crabs and enjoyed it a lot.

This our favorite neighborhood spot! We moved out of this hood a year ago, and we still come back a couple of times a month. The ribeye is often a special and is fantastic, and the Chesapeake Benedict on the brunch menu is the best in Richmond. Love this place!

Excellent neighborhood bar. Pork shanks are awesome when available. Good rotating tap selection and great bartenders.

The hostess greeted us with a non-existent personality. When we asked to wait for another booth to be cleared she said that they were not seating people on that section. Immediately after we were seated, she seated the next group at that booth. We did speak to the manager who was of no help. The food was good, but I will not go back due to the service I received.

This is a great spot to chill and get a beer with your friends or coworkers. The food is good but nothing too special on the menu, but the atmosphere is fantastic. They have an awesome outside seating area.

Great sandwiches and extensive local beer selection in a small neighborhood bar. Great place to grab a beer and a burger on Sunday afternoon while watching a football game. The Reuben and the Tuna Melt on Rye are recommended.

Meh. Underwhelmed with the food and the service. They have a large bar area and nice outdoor area to enjoy when the weather is nice. I only go when I’m with someone that chooses where we’re eating and I don’t feel comfortable asking if we can meet somewhere else.

Stopped in for lunch today at the Northside Grille. Sat in a booth immediately and our server was there in a flash to get our drink/appetizer order. We ordered their daily Sandwich special, grilled Pastrami and Swiss on rye. Homemade fries and the best ice tea you’ve ever had! Carrot Cake was a must for dessert. Love this place. Comfortable booths, friendly service, casual atmosphere.

We stopped into the Northside Grille tonight and was seated right away. The atmosphere was welcoming and the bar was huge. I wish it wasn’t rainy and cold because the patio looked like a great space. I tried the special for the night, Pasta Lou, which was a Cajun Alfredo pasta dish with shrimp and spicy sausage. It was amazing. The rest of the table got burgers with in house cut fries. Everyone left the table raving about their meals. I will be coming back.

I really want to like this place. Really! But, I just don’t have any confidence in it. I’ve had great good, not so great food, and down-right awful good. Lately it seems like I’ve been ordering all the wrong things– I haven’t had a great meal in a while. Recently, I had the fish special. 2 breaded fried pieces, fries, cole slaw, salad. Good thing the salad was good– the fish was horrid. Obviously frozen(not really a special, now is it?) and seriously the most bland, tasteless, awful thing I’ve ever had. Service was great! And, I do enjoy the patio. But if I go back, I’ll stick to something I’ve had that I know is okay, like a burger.

A few years ago I thought better of Northside Grille. My last 2 brunches over the past 6 months have been between meh and disaster. One of my poached eggs were overdone(hardboiled) and the hollandaise was separated. My previous french toast with cream cheese was french toast smeared with cream cheese. Cold and gummy. Not going back. It’s too bad, this place used to be good.

I’m a fan of Northside Grille, not so much for the food, but for the bar and the fact that it’s truly a neighborhood joint. The bar boasts a solid selection of beers including Hardywood on tap, which is always a winner in my book. The bartenders are also super friendly, keep your glasses filled, and know how to mix a good drink. The large, u-shaped bar is a solid place to post up for happy hour and stay into the evening. The food is your typical American soups/salads/sandwiches/burgers with a few random dishes thrown in like fish tacos and chicken carbonara. I’ve eaten the crab bisque(just what you’d expect — very heavy and a tad sweet, so I can only eat so much in one sitting), the egg salad sandwich(not my favorite, a little bland for my tastes… but I’m picky with my egg salad), and the nachos(standard pub nachos). While there’s nothing wrong with the food, there’s also nothing special about it. When I’m looking for a dinner destination, I usually want something that has the potential to wow me. Although this isn’t that spot, it does maintain a special place in my heart for it’s friendly, casual, no frills vibe and it’s awesome bartenders. And when I’m drinking and need a snack, this place has got me covered. After all, I’ve never been one to turn down nachos with a beer…

Nice neighborhood place. The menu features mostly sandwiches and burgers but offer up a good selection. Go on a ballgame weekend and you will find plenty of TVs to find the game of your choice.
