My first visit, I ordered the curried chicken and callaloo. They forgot my greens, so I had to wait about 15 more minutes for that. This time, I had to call for about 25 minutes before someone answered(they open at 11, I started calling at 1106) before someone answered, only to say they wouldn’t be ready until about 1230. I ordered my food at 1240, I was told 20 minutes. I get there 35 minutes later, food isn’t done. I wait until about 130 only to find he forgot a part of my order again. No heartfelt apologies, not an attempt to comp or anything. Didn’t even know the prices. There are fewer than 20 menu items! The food is really good, but I’m not inclined to give them nary another dime until they get themselves together. These experiences have been over the span of two months. They should have it figured out by now.

The food is good the service not so great. Was told a 5 minute wait turned into 40 minutes and then my order was completely wrong.

Let me start by saying the owner of this business is a super nice guy, who will let you sample most things on the menu. He told me he was born & raised in Jamaican. He does all the cooking himself, but it appears to be a family business. This location used to be a pizza place way back in the day, and the new owner has cleaned the place up really nicely. The AC wasn’t working on the day I visited, but the downstairs dining area was fairly cool, clean and orderly. I ordered the Medium Jerk Chicken with Veggies & Beans and rice. The chicken was tender, and spiced really nicely. I wouldn’t say it was spicy, but I have a decent tolerance for spice/heat. The veggies were a combo of cabbage, green peppers & carrots shredded up, seasoned and steamed. The beans and rice was a nice combo of cooked and seasoned rice and kidney beans. The portion size was really substantial. My mom had leftovers the next day. I devoured mine, but trust me I was stuffed! You definitely get your monies worth! The food and service were so awesome I went back the very next day and ordered the same thing! On my second visit I sampled the Goat(which we don’t eat alot of here in RVA) and the Oxtail. Both were seasoned well, tender and yummy and i’m sure I’ll order both in the future. In case you’re wondering Goat taste alot like deer meat. I’m so happy to have a place so close to home that’s serving real food, not junk food!

The food here is phenomenal! The owner offered samples of curried goat, jerk chicken, and oxen tail. All three were absolutely mouthwatering. I loved every bite of them, although I ended up ordering the oxen tail. It was extremely tender, fall off the bone, in a savory but not overbearing gravy. The veggies that come with the meal were also beautifully prepared, allowing for their individual flavors to come out and not overwhelmed by the seasonings. Everything about this place was great and I have full intentions on returning to try their different sauces!

Great people, friendly staff, very helpful on explaining the different type of dishes. If you live in the Richmond area you need to stop in and experience it for yourself!
