Mississippi Catfish

Small place but great find, I was referred by my cousin. I ordered a 3 meat bbq combo with ribs chicken and hot links, and a 4 piece catfish and fries. All were great my roommate and myself really liked it!

This is really very good catfish and trimmings. Fried well but slightly harder than it should be, but nevertheless the fish inside was moist and soft. The hush puppies were the same. When I say ‘hard’ I mean nice and crispy, but also like a real shell rather than just a coating — excellent flavor however.
I could have done without the holier-​than-​thou attitude from the employees, who might not realize some of come from the south and do know our stuff as well as they do. The wait was not too long, about 15 minutes, but I think you can order take out and that would make it really convenient. There wasn’t enough sauce — 2 small packs of ketchup and one of tarter sauce. I think you could ask for more, or just have that stuff at home like I did.
I got peach cobbler with it that was really questionable. It wasn’t really a cobbler with real flakey crust, but sort of a peach ‘mash’ with flecks, not flakes but flecks of dough. Good taste but not cobbler at all.

A funky little joint just off I-​80 in Richmond. 3 visits so far, 3 catfish po’ boys, all were top of the line. Friendly staff. Eventually I’ll try their chicken and barbecue… I grew up in NC and TN and I highly recommend this place if you’re seeking southern cuisine.

Not impressed at all. I ordered the chicken wings because I figured you can’t really screw up fried chicken wings. On the way home I kept wondering if I had the right order b/​c it was smelling like fish. Got home and I have theses little pieces of chicken not even the whole wing. As I’m eating my chicken its tasting like fish and it was soggy. I was expecting crispy. I haven’t been in the area long from Louisiana I was looking forward to some good ol southern fried food. Very disappointed…

It’s dry BBQ (no sauce) and they do an amazing job. A basket of 5 – 6 chicken pieces with a side for $ 5.99 hits the spot for lunch. Very friendly and down home.

This is definitely a must try if you’re in the area. They’re open only a few days a week but make your way down you will not be disappointed. They’re doing fried fish fried chicken and even Bbq you can’t go wrong here. Plus the way is not that bad, fresh hot food done right.

Never disappointed with the quality of food and the service was awesome recommended to anybody

They have excellent catfish and its always fresh, variety. on the menu, very friendly.

The food was horrible I can fry fish better than that I had eight pieces of fish he gave me one pack of catch up one pack of hot sauce the string beings were out of a can I will not be going back here and there to eat ever

Tried the shrimp po’ boy! Everything was ON POINT! Except the bread… which was a hotdog bun. Not cool, cause I coulda eaten that at my granny’s house. But I won’t remove a star because I strongly believe this establishment will up their bread game if they haven’t already. The food here is
, if you’re not picky about bread I DO recommend the Po’ Boy! If you are, try their catfish or wings or really any other delicious thing on the menu. You won’t be disappointed.

I have been wanting a real New Orleans Po Bo Sandwich, they had it! Ok I’m Done Eating Guess What I’m Loving This Place! You get fries with it you get a hardy sandwich! I’m Glad Mike Got His smog And I Got To Try It. Go Taste It For Yourself, I Promise You Won’t Be Disappointed!
Also the BBQ by Wink’s Is Really Tasty Also Yummie To The Tummie

I’m not a big seafood kinda guy, but DAMN! The food here is finger lickin’ good. The fish is perfectly fried and the hush puppies are amazing. I alway leave with a full stomach. The staff is friendly and it is a kickback atmosphere when your in there. This is my go to spot.

Catfish and prawns, fries and coleslaw. On my deathbed I’ll probably send my great grandson to get my order (definitely with a Tiki punch). The standard of the bay when it comes to catfish and prawns if u ask me. The seasoned fries hit right and potato salad is spiced perfectly. Maybe I just come on the right days (reading a couple other reviews) but I have never left hungry or dissatisfied. I’m a cheap individual but this spot is definitely worth every dollar.

Came here solely off of Unilocal reviews… this place is horrible… Catfish isn’t seasoned… fried too hard… prawns were soggy… fries under cooked… totally disappointing vecause im from the south and this restaurant gloats about having mississippi inspired flavors… oh and the cobbler HORRIBLE…

I like the food but the proportions are way to small. I thought they may have been small because they are a new business but after reading the Unilocal reviews I see it has been open for a few years.
I really like the way the food tastes but when I eat soul food I put my diet on the backseat. the sides and desserts are way too small.
I don’t know why soul food is like that at restaurants
Unilocal considers this place moderate but in my opinion its pricey the cheapest thing is 5 dollars plus tax so if you insist on a drink I don’t know what what the price might be 7 dollars maybe.

Haven’t eaten here in about 10 years when they were cooking out of the truck. As I wait for my order I’m perusing the Unilocal reviews and note that the site says its closed. But I’m standing at the counter waiting for my order! Seems a little pricey and the sides are tiny, so I ordered extras. Fish, prawns, hush puppies good, greens are well done so the portion they give is just a tease. And they forgot my creole potato salad. Food made to order, crispy corn mealy crust on the fish. I’m knocking a few stars off due to the price/​portion ratio.

I had been a supporter of this business for a long time. It is important to note that I root for the small business, I buy from the little guy. I also promoted these guys from when they went to a food truck that was by that parking lot to when they upgraded to a bricks and mortar location. I told friends and even said good words on the neighborhood newsgroup. Farm raised catfish (often US raised) is actually a better choice environmentally than many unsustainable fish options.
Not surprisingly, when they came up on Groupon, I purchased two certificates (under the per person limit, to be used on separate visits). The Groupon was not expired, they will still valid. When I went this past Sunday, they said they were no longer honoring Groupons because «they didn’t work out for us.» Wha??? Note to owners: It’s a pretty bad call not to honor a promise in your business. We’ll see how well that works out for you…
Also, they were unloading a truck out front and we still were considering buying some grub anyway. Bottom line: we’d been working on the house all day, and were really hungry. Then they told us they were closed Sundays. Wha???
We’d checked Unilocal for hours before we came. It said 8:30. There was a pic that showed «NOW OPEN SUNDAYS!» Not.
It appears that they have their correct hours buried in a Facebook page. Looks like they are open only Wed thru Sat. Well, note again to business owner: you’re responsible for correcting your Unilocal hours, **you** verify it not me. I’ve never seen that before.
Well, dear business owner, I’m no longer patronizing your establishment, because, simply as you said, «it didn’t work out for us.» And just as I told all my neighbors and people through the newsgroup… I’ll tell them all as well. Remember, good news traveled fast, **bad news travels even faster**.
Too bad. Looks like I’ll go to Rincon Latino (best little market in area) and get my catfish there. Probably healthier for me, anyway; I’ll just cook it in the oven, I suppose…

I have seen this restaurant and been curious. I’ve never had catfish, I figured I had to give it a try, and then what do you know? A Groupon for them came out, and i snapped one up, $ 15 for $ 25 worth of food. I had stopped by a few times to redeem my purchased Groupon but they never seemed to be open. However, today I drove by and saw folks inside. I went in, and was informed (by a gentlemen that presented himself in such a way I assume he is the owner) that they were actually not open, while they renovated the kitchen. «OK, no problem» I said, «can I see your menu so I have an idea what I might order next time? I purchased a Groupon and am looking forward to using it.» He replies by saying, «Groupon didnt work out for us, we’re not accepting them anymore.» I was like, what the heck? You’ve already taken my money! He told me to complain to Groupon.
This amounts to THEFT! HONOR YOUR COMMITMENTS! I could have been leaving you a raving Unilocal,but instead, you took my money and refused to serve me. That makes you a thief, and I will tell everyone I know what kind of business you run.
