Food is good. On par with all of the other mcalisters. This one has a friendly staff. Good for a quick lunch.

Just wanted a quick bite not expecting much but this place is awful. I ordered a salad and could even finish it wilted lettuce. Not fresh and not good

McAlister’s Deli actually is pretty good, but here, the service, meaning how long it takes for you to come out, is very slow. Waiting for a bowl of soup took about 10 minutes, which disappointed me. If you’re looking just for a quick sandwich and such, then you can stop here. However, if you’re looking for a real good sandwich, I wouldn’t really recommend this place.

This is a wonderful deli. The cookies are fresh and the chili is great. The staff is very friendly and the tortilla soup is to die for.

I loooove the staff! They’re so friendly and warm! We normally get treated like crap when we come in like an hour before closing time at restaurants and coffee shops but here they were so nice and friendly! 5 stars just for that! But then my sandwich and carrot cake were also good! So that’s really 5 stars! Very nice and homey place also. :) P. S. Their chicken salad sandwich is pretty good. Also their peach tea!

Went here recently on a chilly rainy night with my wife. The place was empty. Just the«chef» and another employee who bore a striking resemblance to Michael Jackson(only short and fat). We were hungry and wanted a quick meal so we ordered sandwiches to go and stood by the«kitchen» to wait for our meal. Chef-guy was obviously not feeling well. He coughed, sneezed and tried to hack up a goober… all this without even attempting to cover his pie hole while preparing our meal. My wife… who is very sympathetic and caring when it comes to food service personnel… said to me in a stage whisper: «Lets get out of here before we catch the Bubonic plague!» Then she turned and almost knocked me over sprinting to the door. True story. Needless to say, we haven’t been back.

the food was great but it was really really expensive… I would definitely go back there. I thought the sandwich I ordered was amazing!

Weak. Place was almost empty. Ordered a pot roast sandwich. Took 35 min and came out cold. Not to mention the sandwich was small and had more peppers on it than beef. If I want to be disappointed like this again I’m sure I can get a crappy meal for a lot less money.

The sandwiches are always good here, and the soups are tasty. My partner has had a baked potato here and liked it. Their sweet tea is awesome!

This is a casual chain restaurant. Sandwiches, soups, salads, baked potatoes, etc. The staff at this location is exceptional. Great service every time I have been in. The food is good for a chain. The restaurant is clean and spacious. They have a great kids menu. Try the chocolate cake. I was surprised how moist and perfect it was.

It’s ok. I’ve been here twice and not really impressed. The people who work here are really nice, but the sandwiches are crazy expensive for what you get. It really should have 2 dollars signs. And like I said, the sandwiches are«ok» — nothing really special except that they are on the small side for a $ 7.50 sandwich…

I went to McAlister’s Deli after work today for a salad. I was craving a salad for some reason. I decided to try the Southwest Cobb salad. The salad consisted of grilled chicken breast, fire-roasted corn & poblano pepper relish, guacamole, and jack cheese. The salad came with chipotle ranch dressing on the side. The dressing was tasty. The salad was delicious and the flavors hit the mark. The salad was made fresh after ordering. The service was fast. The employees were friendly. McAlister’s Deli has a laid back atmosphere(evening). McAlister’s Deli has nice modern décor. The restaurant was clean inside. I definitely will be back to try other items off the menu. McAlister’s Deli is a good choice for a fresh salad.

Located in the old Blockbuster at Gayton Crossing, this is a great place for lunch. Because it has counter service, you can get in and get out quickly which is nice on a short lunch break. The staff was very friendly and didn’t seem to be overwhelmed even though it was PACKED when we went in. Still got our food within 5 minutes, and the food was great! I didn’t feel very ladylike ordering a Big Nasty, but it was a delicious sandwich. The beef was moist and tender and that gravy is amazing! So tasty! Prices are reasonable, around ten bucks overall. Can’t beat it!

I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of food items on the menu as well as the quality of the food once I dug into my meal! Taking advantage of a free meal a la Teacher Appreciation Week, I decided to try the Choose Two deal. I ended up choosing the sweet chipotle chicken sandwich and the Spud Max. Both turned out to be good choices! The sandwich was flavorful and the potato was packed with tasty meats and toppings… I could only imagine how large the whole portion would be! The place was near empty when I visited. The associate(I got the feeling he was the manager) was very friendly and gave me suggestions on food to try since it was my first visit. I’m sure this would make a great lunch spot for the corporate variety and others who are able to get out of the building during that hour.

I was just recently returned to McAlister’s again as I saw on Foodspotting a salad they had made… so I was anxious to try one of the signature salads… The bowl in which the salad came out was large and to my much surprise… they give you for what you pay for. I ordered the Southwest Cobb Salad with Chicken… It has lots of Chicken on it along with everything else. The Chipotle Ranch has a really nice flavor. In fact it was so good, I asked for additional Ranch and the Manager was extremely accommodating. I use to go to McAlister’s years ago, however the food and service was so bad… I swore I would never come back… upon my 2nd trip, I understand it is under new Ownership and management after several years of avoiding them. In my previous review, I was extremely hesitant to come back, but after having the Reuben Sandwich, I wanted to give a 2nd shot… Upon learning it is under new Ownership/manager… and what I have received in what I had ordered in the last two meals… I am now looking forward in becoming a «Regular» at McAlister’s. I posted a photo of the Southwest Cobb salad. I think you will agree that it is a MUST try…

We lived a mile from a McAlister’s for ten years and then moved out to VA Beach and found out there wasn’t one a mile away! So, when we heard there was one in Richmond, we had to stop in if ever in the area. We have been to this location twice and it’s just OK. The service is always friendly but the food has been a little hit and miss between not making the order correctly or sending out cold food. My wife is a potato soup junkie and was dismayed to find out it wasn’t one of the daily soups as it was back«home». Not a big deal but a little disappointing. Overall, we may stop in again if in the area but we may not. We’ll see.

I still long for a real New York-style deli, but this place is okay. The chili in my opinion is the best thing on the menu, but the sandwiches are decent and filling. Though I am only a couple minutes away, I still don’t go here too often as it reminds me of a more casual Panera(of which I am not a fan). Still, the place is clean, the staff is attentive, and take-out is a breeze. While I don’t love this place, I do recommend it.

I was glad that they finally opened another west-end location after a long absence from the area. Our school faculty ordered boxed lunches, and they were delivered on time and were quite good. The restaurant itself is smaller(more intimate) than other locations I have seen, but it has always been cleaner and more well kept up than the nearby Jason’s location. It’s always good to have added choices so we are not stuck in the same mundane fast food loop, and the food so far has been good, although I believe I got pastrami instead of roast beef on my RB sandwich(I was hungry and I like pastrami, so I forgave), and the muffuletta bread, although toasted, seemed a tad stale around the edges, so a bit more attention to quality control and a green staff is required, although I am sure I could have brought my food back and they would have made it right, they always do. I think when they work out the kinks of a new staff, they are going to be a winner for families and casual diners. I am willing to give them time to get it completely right, but for now, you could do much worse. And the sweet tea is ALWAYSAWESOME! That’s coming from a New Yorker who thought sweet tea was a pseudonym for something illegal before he moved down here.
