One of the best beer programs in town where they always have something different and unique and interesting to try. The servers and bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly. Sometimes the place is full but I’ve always been served quickly. Burgers are great value and a perfect complement to the outstanding beer selection.

What’s there to say about this place? I have been to the original in Harrisonburg, and the Shocker is pretty much my go too. The beef is fatty and delicious and there isn’t a single healthy thing about this place other than the fresh jalapeño’s and serranos. I don’t care. The fries are great, the drink selection is great and the burgers are out of this world.

Better than average hole-in-the-wall spot for a burger-n-brew lunch. Fairly small space with maybe 10 tables and a bar area with 12 stools. It’s decorated in an interesting way that I can only describe as ‘keeping your attention’. We went on a Saturday at noon and were told it would be a 45 minute wait, but we snagged two stools at the bar in 15 minutes. They have a wide variety of microbrews on tap and in bottles, as well as a variety of commercial international beers. We both had the bacon cheese burger with the fried egg on top(I forget the name of it) and it was pretty good. The fries were also good, but it irritated me that they were not included with the burger and they were bold enough to charge $ 2.25 for a small handful. The service at the bar was prompt and friendly. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience and we will probably hit it again if we are in the vicinity.

I love the simplicity of Jack Browns. The burgers are unique and good! I crave the pepper jelly burger probably on a weekly basis :) get there early this place gets packed

Awesome! Great vibe, great food & great beer. What else matters? These guys know how to keep it simple & do what they do best. Best burger & beer spot in RVA.

Easily some of the best burgers I have had in a long time. Try the Sunday special doughnut burger if you can, it is delicious. And the one with mac and cheese is also a must. Burgers are small so my wife and I shared three which topped us off nicely. The fried Oreo is also amazing. I want one of these places to open in my neighborhood but I don’t think my waistline would handle it well. Absolutely worth a try or two or three.

Best burgers in richmond! Great selection of beers and a casual low key ambiance. It is now part of my dining rotation. Don’t miss out!

This place has some things going for it: Ample beer selection, nice décor, decent service. The place was packed when I arrived, but I liked that they txt you when a table is ready. However, I have to ding points for my entrée, the Shocker Burger. This Dane Cook inspired burger sounded good on paper: A jalapeño and habenero laden burger with spicy sauce on top. When I tried it, my mouth went numb from the insane amount of heat it had. Looking under the hood, I could see the jalapenos were raw and not de-seeded. I like spicy food, but heat from seeds does not equal spice. It just creates stupid hot. It was a shame, as I thought the burger meat was well seasoned and on a good bun.

I love burgers and fries. If that’s your thing, Jack Brown’s would be a great choice. They have some unique burgers, and this… sauce(shocker sauce?) that I can’t remember the name of but it’s really good. Burgers don’t come with fries, but the prices aren’t bad. It’s very affordable, so go and grab some sweet potato fries. I think Jack Brown’s is more well known for their long list of alcohol choices and their fried oreos, neither of which I’ve tried, so I unfortunately can’t say much for it, but the burgers are so, so, so good. They are so busy at lunch, though, and their tables aren’t the largest, so either get their early or late, and cross your fingers.

I am a big fan of this place. The décor is really unique and has a great local restaurant feel. I have been here twice– both on Sunday. I had to come back after the first trip because they were out of the donut burger and I had to have one. The first time they were also out of the mac n cheese burger which was disappointing. However, on the second trip we were able to get both! The burgers here are delicious. They’re a good size, but not so huge you feel disgusting afterwards. The fries are crinkle cut and good as well and everything comes with this delicious home made sauce(some mix of ketchup and mayo and something else??) The only negatives are the service and the fact they’re so often out of things. This place is small and does get pretty packed, but it was empty the second time I went back. Even though there were only two tables there the waitress took ten minutes to come over to us and was not particularly pleasant– which was seen at both of my trips. Also they frequently don’t have the beers on their beer list. They’re mostly cans and bottles so that’s understandable but then they need a list that’s easier to update because I’m sure the frustrating of finding a drink in stock is part of the wait staff’s frustration because they have to come back several times. Overall the burgers are awesome and I actually don’t think they’re expensive for a quality burger. Check out the daily specials because they have a special burger for each day of the week and that might drive when you decide to go!

Unbelievable fresh and juicy burgers. Really good crinkle cut fries. A home town bar feel and great beer selection. Jack Brown’s is what it advertises, and does it well. The prices are more reasonable than some other Richmond options.

I didn’t know there was a crack epidemic in Richmond. 3.5 stars for Jack Brown’s ?? Really? Absurd. Rubbish. I love this place. The beer selection is solid — they have all my favorite wheats, which is great for summer weather. 8 taps, the rest are bottles. The burgers are fantastic. Tender, delicious, and definitely some unique combinations. Greg Brady is a staple — it’s a must get if it’s your first time. Another favorite of mine is the Jack on Piggy Back. The fries are pretty good, usually crispy, only had a slightly soggier batch once. They are a separate charge, they don’t come with the burger. Yeah, they aren’t the cheapest burgers in the city, or the largest. If you wanna drive a pound of cheap burgers into your fat walrusy gut for $ 3.00 then go to Burger King.

The burgers here are the best in Richmond, hands down. The fries, and mainly the sauce that comes with them, –so. good. I’m only giving this place a 4 stars because it’s always so incredibly packed, they had a young boy as a host(so weird), and there are always too many kids. Who takes their kids to bars? Some people say I’m too much of a prude, but having a chandelier full of bras is also just tacky, and a little sexist to me. And, why would you bring your kids to a place with a chandelier full of bras? People. I only ever pick up from here. Great beer list, though!

I have been to this place at least half a dozen times in the last couple of months. It is a little small and sometimes it is hard to get a table, but it also has a whole lot going for it. First, the burgers are outstanding. They use excellent beef and have some creatively made burgers(with mac and cheese or a split hot dog or peanut butter, etc.) and the buns are toasted to perfection. The burgers themselves are a little small and pricey, but that is the only drawback. The burgers do not come with a side besides a dill pickle, but they do have crinkle cut fries and sweet potato fries. I have only ever had the crinkle fries and they are outstanding. They come with a dipping sauce that is a little like a creamy thousand island which is also great. Finally, they serve fried oreos for dessert. They are also outstanding and a great finish to an indulgent meal. My wife and I got two burgers, an order of fries, two beers, and four fried oreos for about $ 40. They always have about eight beers on draft, and they keep a decent selection. They also have a lot of bottled beers always available. Good addition to the greasy comfort food. The service can be a bit hit or miss based on how busy they are. If the burgers were bigger and a little more affordable, this place would be five stars. As it is, this is a great spot and worth the visit if you want to break a diet or treat yourself to some greasy goodness.

Jack Browns recently opened in Richmond and is still flowing with new excitement and people. If you’re not one for waiting it out, it’s best to avoid the busy hours. However, I promise you it’s completely worth the wait. The service is amazing, we were brought a couple beers while we waited and ordered as soon as we were seated. The food came within the next 15 minutes and like I said, completely worth the wait. If you’re any bit of a foode, Jack Browns is a must try!

Let’s start here, the burgers and fries are awesome. I had the burger with a mini hot dog on it and it was incredible, the fries were just as good. I love a good crinkly fry. The side of sauce was a welcome touch for the price. Many have commented on the portions, but for the price, it is more than enough food! Now the service on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. The servers are surly, reallllly gruff. I’ve never seen IDs inspected so throughly! Our waitress bent our IDs to the point where I expected them to snap. I would not go back just because of the service, even though the food was excellent

If you don’t want to wait for a seat get here early the place seems to be very busy around dinner time. The burgers are great. I had the Greg Brady which was amazing and not overwhelming. The special sauce is delicious. Great beer selection and dessert is cheap — $ 1 for a fried Oreo!

Burgers and beers. This place has its roots in Harrisonburg(JMU) and fills up quickly, opening at 11AM. The décor is rustic, with old beer cans lining the walls, old doors along one wall, and lockers underneath the bar. The bathroom is actually a little bit creepy… supposed to look like an outhouse I guess or an old shack, but looks creepy. The menu is simple. Burger, grilled cheese, or cheeseburger. Then an array of specialty burgers, and finally some extra treats, such as deep fried Oreos! Burgers are on the smaller side, but delicious! — Jalapeño popper: cream cheese and jalapeños on wagyu beef burger. Great! Could have used more than 2 slices of jalapeño though — Cowboy: burger with bacon, cheddar, bbq sauce. — Greg Brady: mac & cheese and bbq potato chips on a burger… what?! Incredible! This is their most popular burger — Elvis: peanut butter and bacon on the burger. The original location uses more peanut butter! Yum — All burgers come with crinkle fries, or you can get sweet potato fries Tips: — no liquor at the bar — bring two forms of ID to even eat at the bar — avoid peak hours. The place opens at 11AM and has a wait by 11:30AM

Me and a few coworkers came here on the recommendation of a friend. Unfortunately we did not have the same experience. While the burgers may have unique combinations, they really didn’t deliver on taste. More of a gimmick to have you try random things than anything worth doing again. At the end of the day, the burgers were small and uninspiring. We didn’t have the option for lettuce and tomato. The wait was far too long. And, we ordered fries that came out cold. Not a good combo for a place that doesn’t serve much else. I will say, however, that we did hear better reviews from other people. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day?

With the buzz surrounding this place, I was excited to finally get the chance to try it. The space is small, but cozily decorated with fun, tacky bar items. There aren’t many tables(maybe 6 or 7 indoors), and the bar isn’t huge, so during peak hours, prepare to wait! They have a large bottled beer selection, about 6 drafts, and NO liquor. The beer starts out around $ 4.50 and goes up quickly, with the average draft around $ 6. They menu is small, made up of about 6 burger choices and sides of fries(regular crinkle cut $ 2.50, and sweet potato crinkle cut $ 3.50). You can also get fried Oreos for dessert at $ 1 a piece. I had the«Shocker» Burger and it was good and spicy. The burgers are Wagu Beef and are very juicy and tasty. Now for the review. The following was the general feeling at the table: the burgers are very tasty, but they are SMALL for the price. They don’t come with lettuce, tomato or onions, or any sides. At $ 7+ dollars a burger, your meal will be $ 10+ after you add fries. The fries are a bit pricey for being regular sized portions of crinkle cut fries. For a $ 10-$ 12 burger and fry plate, I want to be full. The burgers leave much to be desired, size wise. The burger couldn’t be more than ¼ lb. Sure, you can add a second patty for $ 3.50, but then you are looking at spending $ 15 on a burger and fries. Add $ 6 a beer, and your tab can be more than you would expect for a tacky themed burger joint. Overall, fun atmosphere, good tasting burger, but you might leave still feeling hungry.
