Because our house closing in October was delayed time and again, we spent 7 nights rather the planned for single night. I can’t imagine a more ideal place to have been in that stressful situation than the Inn at Richmond. It was beautiful and peaceful both inside and out, with views of autumnal splendor in all directions. The Chanticleer suite was elegantly appointed and comfortable. And the stellar innkeeper Johnny graciously accommodated us and offered many kindnesses that we will always remember.

Here’s an update from our recent stay at the Inn at Richmond. While my previous review was scalding and rightly so, we were finally able to correct the past mistake made by Pam the manager. The current manager Johnny was incredibly kind and apologetic for all of the past mishaps and miscommunication between us. My wife and i finally made it up to the Inn at Richmond on a lovely August day and spent several days soaking in the beautiful countryside and scenery. We stayed in cottage #7, a two story building next door to the main house. It had a full kitchen with stove, fridge, pots, pans and utensils, perfect for us since we had a 16 m.o. It also had a small living room adjacent to the master bedroom where we setup a pack and play for our daughter. Johnny was great, he supplied us with a pack and play so we didn’t need to bring our own from NYC. Some notable experiences: 1. Fresh pastries, cakes or donuts on a daily basis. 2. Selection of coffee, tea, jams, granola as part of a warm/cooked breakfast each morning. 3. Friendly and pleasant guests(we even met a couple from London) 4. Multiple rooms/cottages to choose from. We took a look at some of the other rooms, they were cozy and picture perfect. 5, Close proximity to Pittsfield, a 15 min. drive. 6. Easy drive to two lakes and Mt. Greylock(a must on a clear day) 7. Target was 20 minutes away, we needed some items and this was a pleasant surprise Some things to be aware of: 1. Lots of bugs, spiders, bring insect spray, my wife was bitten multiple times 2. No high chair for our 16 m.o. which made feeding time a challenge I do want to give Johnny huge kudos for calling Triple A and getting a tow truck out to the property in 20 minutes to unlock our car since I left the keys inside. He didn’t need to do this but this gesture meant a lot to us. I was so close to breaking a window, his membership was a god send. Big thank you! Last but not least, we met two wonderful sisters from who have been coming to the property for several years. They said that Johnny improved the Inn by leaps and bounds over the previous manager, adding nice touches like flowers, cleaning up the property and keeping it well run and visually appealing. We would love to come back again, perhaps in the fall to see the leaves change color.

Truly enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Richmond. The public rooms are lovely, as are the grounds. Our room was really a mini-suite with a pleasant living room and a very nice bedroom. It’s a B&B and breakfast was fabulous– fiddlehead frittata, with a mixed berry fruit salad Yum! Pam, the innkeeper, is charming and the Inn at Richmond is well worth a visit.
