My husband and I visited this location today for a massage and facial as part of an anniversary gift to ourselves. Nice environment, desk staff was friendly and professional. Finding parking wasn’t too bad. He had the 50 min Swedish massage and I got the basic facial with blackhead removal. My esthetician was La’Torya. I was concerned about redness, possible sun damage and dryness. During my consultation I felt she addressed all my concerns and even made some recommendations that definitely seem doable to protect my skin. La’Torya was very polite and extremely professional and seemed to really enjoy her job. My face feels awesome! The desk staff does try to sell you on the membership, but not worth it for us since we would only book services maybe 2 or 3 times a year. I will definitely check into some of the facial products.

First I would like to say the atmosphere of the place is very warm and relaxing. Immediately you are greeted by the front desk staff where they check you in for your massage. They also have a selection of different types of water they offer you while you wait for your therapist (try the peach water!!!). I started going to hand and stone massage back in May after receiving a gift card from my uncle for my birthday, I was immediately hooked!!! I signed up for a membership that day and haven’t regretted it since. My second appointment there was with a therapist named C’asha and let me tell you, she is an amazing massage therapist. She is very personable and welcoming. I have had chronic back pain from previous injuries and am also an ER nurse which puts strain on my back in itself. I have done physical therapy in the past for my back and never received as much relief from pain as I do from my monthly massages. C’asha always greets me with the most pleasant smile and makes me feel like comfortable. She always remembers what specific request I have had in the past and always makes sure each session is tailored to what areas are causing me trouble at that time. I highly recommend her to everyone I tell about Hand and Stone

First let me say that this location is much more customer friendly than the location in Short Pump, and has a much more talented and professional therapist line up than Short Pump as well. I have been able to try a few massage therapists and have found the one who works with me the best. I always feel welcome and that I am in a very clean environment at Hand & Stone Carytown. I have the membership, and have loved it for almost two years now, looking forward to a couples massage in a few weeks!

Great spa with just a few drawbacks. I decided to enroll in their monthly subscription plan, which has been a mixed blessing. As for positives, the staff is incredibly friendly and organized, the space is clean and relaxing, the range of services are wide, and the price (with the subscription) is great. That said, the massage therapists seem to turn over every few months so it’s hard to maintain a relationship with a therapist, and there is almost always a $ 10 upcharge for something during the massage, whether you’re made aware at the time or not. Overall, very happy with the decision to subscribe, I just wish there was a bit more predictability.

Hand & Stone in Carytown is amazing! The ambiance is almost other-​worldly; very serene and calming.
My sister and I went to try the introductory $ 50 one hour facials. We were greeted upon entering by the receptionist, who directed us to a comfortable seating area to fill out some paperwork.
There was an indoor waterfall in the seating area, and relaxing music played throughout the entire spa.
After handing in our paperwork, we were introduced to our estheticians. They were both very friendly and professional. I don’t know if it’s possible to request someone when booking an appointment, but if it is, I highly recommend Lita. Not only did she do an amazing job on my facial, but she gave a thorough education on proper face treatment and the affects of the different ingredients in the products that I use.
I also appreciated that there was zero pressure to purchase the in-​spa products.
The facial itself was a wonderful experience. One hour of pure bliss! If felt so good, and I was completely comfortable with the process and my esthetician.
The results were immediate and significant, for both me and my sister. Our skin was baby soft and smooth, smelled fabulous and looked light and clean. It did wonders for acne! We looked even better the next day because the lingering products had more time to treat our skin.

Arrive at least 10 min. before your appointment to fill out paperwork.
They accept all major credit cards (including Discover), as well as Spa Wish/​Spa Finder gift cards.
All of the estheticians are ladies.
Gratuities can be paid in cash or credit.

What a delight! I’ve been in for a facial several times and been very happy each time. My skin is smoother and healthier as a result. I had my first massage this week. The masseuse was quite knowledgable and willing to recommend what was right for me. The entire staff is friendly and professional. I feel the pricing is fair.
The atmosphere and décor are rather bland, but I feel the service is as good, if not better, than the more expensive day spas in the area where prices are higher. I would rather not pay for fancy decorating as my eyes are closed most of the time anyway!
Overall the best day spa in the area for any price.

The first time I went to Hand and Stone I was not that impressed (I previously gave them 3 stars). My massage therapist was only okay, but my husband said his was great. I finally got a massage from her, and the 5 stars I’m giving is due to that: C’Asha is a miracle worker. She was very attentive to what I reported as my problem areas. She made more progress on my most tense area than ANY therapist has before, and that was in just one session. Hours later, I am still in a haze of relaxation. I cannot recommend C’Asha strongly enough!

And i have really good skin thank god but i got a little breakout in my check and near my upper lip, so she decided to do classic facial with mango and mud mask and i agreed.
Katherine was really good, at 1^st she began chatting a lil bit with me than i got myself in relaxing mood till i full asleep
She had a golden hands.

overall experience is relaxing, educational and pleasant. Amanda is fantastic and Sacha has been at the front desk on most of my visits and is very nice & accommodating. Clean, comfortable and relaxing environment. I appreciate the stress free atmosphere, the offer of products but no «hard sale» approach.

I had a massage through their introductory offer, in January. I had slipped and fallen down the stairs and injured my upper back and neck. I tried hot and cold press for awhile and then came to Hot Stone and got an incredible and healing massage from John Peroni. It really was amazing. I was floating when I walked out of there and the pain was gone. He totally healed it. That is what a real massage in my opinion should do. Heal the areas that are in pain. Highly recommend.

Wow! I was in Richmond for just 48 hours, and I’m so glad I got to spend one of them getting a Hand and Stone massage. Super professional but still friendly, helpful, and soothing vibe. My massage was so awesome I was in bliss town the rest of the night. I woke up the next day feeling like I could breathe and move better than the day before.
I get regular massages back home, and this was a step above. Highly recommend!

Tina gave a great Swedish. I hadn’t had a massage in years and she made me feel what I’ve been missing, literally and figuratively. She woke up muscles that I’d long forgotten. I felt like Rocky after a victory in the ring, minus the bruises and black eyes. Seriously, highly recommend.

I wasn’t expecting much because I had had a lackluster experience at Massage Envy in Short Pump, but I got a great massage with Tina. I get massages frequently, and she was top notch. I got the intro. price, which was nice. I would only pay full price in a crunch. Their availability is a real plus, when I need a massage asap.

I was lucky enough to get Catherine as my massage therapist – wow she knew exactly what I wanted and was easy to talk to and super friendly! I had never had a massage before in my life and if you’re a newbie, she will make you feel right at home and sooo relaxed.
Everything was really easy, the staff was super friendly and helpful to me, I felt pampered from every single person and they were just as sweet as pie. Aromatherapy was a little bonus I added on and it was a nice little touch – just wish they had more choices!

I had a relaxing and thorough 60 min signature facial with Melissa. I used a groupon for this service and have another groupon for a facial here; I will be requesting Melissa for the second facial because she did an excellent job. Extractions a included in this facial.
The atmosphere was quiet and calming and everything was clean. The front desk staff were polite; they do suggest products for you to buy but were not pushy about it when I declined. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the listed price for this facial without a groupon would be 90 bucks and that’s just nonsense. This is a solid 60 dollar facial in my book. Interestingly, Hand and Stone offers a membership of sorts where you get a massage or facial once a month for about 60 bucks per month. I would have to try a massage there before making this decision but am considering it as 60 bucks for this signature facial sounds reasonable to me.

I had a facial with Melissa, and WOW! She was very knowledgable, and my skin feels great afterwards. I can’t wait to try the microdermabrasion facial on my next visit. I would definitely recommend a facial at Hand & Stone Carytown.

This Hand and Stone is ok. I have been to the Short Pump location, and I defnitely prefer it. It is a lot more upscale, and I find that everyone there is much more friendly. Your experience can vary based on your therapist, so do your research!

I went in for my first ever massage, it was amazing!!! The staff is super friendly, the salon is clean and very tranquil. I will certainly be returning!

Had a lovely introductory deal massage with Tina. She was attentive and did a good job. I would go back to her, and the price was an added bonus.
I rolled my eyes a little bit at their «add ons» push. They give you a sheet of «extras» you can add to your appointment when you fill in your info. Then they give you the speech about membership, etc. at the end of your appointment. Luckily they don’t really pressure you in an aggressive way like some places can, but I think it’s generally a little tacky.
I really like that they are open so late. It’s very convenient for scheduling.
