1st impression, small place and what did I get myself into. Great example of don’t judge q book by its cover. This place is «quaint», clean, quick service, nice and attentive staff. That’s just the location. My daughter by another mother had posted how great her Greek salad was on yesterday, and myself being a Greek salad lover is quite pleased. I order takeout this time… but next time it will definitely be sit in. Thanks Darryl for your review.

Bottom line is… Perfectly mediocre Greek food. There’s nothing special. I will start this review by saying I did takeout within an hour of their closing time and that may have affected the quality of food I received — I would give them another chance to determine whether this was the case. I had an item off of the specials menu — crab stuffed salmon. The menu stated that it had a butter garlic sauce but it actually came in a bed of oil that wasn’t appetizing. I liked my leftovers better after the oil congealed and I was able to pick the meat out of the grease. Nothing about this fish was fresh though… Not the salmon, not the crab, not the sauce. For $ 24.99, I do have higher expectations… I cannot recommend this dish. The salad — the waitress asked whether I wanted to «Greek» it and I said sure since I was at a Greek restaurant. She neglected to tell me that this was a $ 2.50 upcharge which was a surprise once I got to the register to pay. As a former server, I felt like she should have shared this. The Greek green beans — the redeeming food item of this haul. Greek soul food in a styrofoam box. So delicious. I wish that my entire order had been the same quality. GETTHESE. The service — the girl that took my order was polite enough but became short upon me asking her any questions about the menu, even though I told her that it was my first time there. The pregnant waitress who rang me out was friendlier. Go for the Greek green beans…

The Greek salad is awesome, especially the dressing. Heads up that the dolmades are hot and not cold. The gyro… delicious! Especially because the pita has garlic baked in. Prices are more than reasonable and they have a few import beers that are noteworthy.

Wonderful authentic greek food. Greek owners offer a wide menu plus always additional specials based on the fresh ingredients they have on hand. While the combination platter is a favorite of ours, we tried the Athens Chicken which was delicious. Great fun murals too!

I’ve eaten here with my wife a number of times and have thoroughly enjoyed it each time. Reasonable prices, friendly service, and fresh authentic Greek food. Arguably, the best Gyro sandwich in Richmond and certainly the best tzatziki. Also love the stuffed grape leaves. Come to think of it, there’s nothing I don’t like on the menu!

Decent. Gyro is ok, meat is regular gyro meat, wasn’t a fan of the warm tzaziki. Pita was good. The tyropita was some of the best I’ve ever had

I adore this place. It’s a touch expensive for my grad-student budget, but portions are HUGE and delicious, obviously made from scratch. Staff are always friendly too. I’m especially fond of the Greek salad, pork souvlaki, taramosalata platter, spanakopita, and Greek roast potatoes.

I mean I kind of don’t want to tell you about it, well because, I love that I never have to wait. But, okay fine. Go get yourself a daggon lamb/beef gyro. It is UN-FRIGGIN-REAL. I didn’t even think I liked gyro’s, I’m usually a chicken souvlaki kinda gal, but then I had that one taste of my husbands and WHOAAAA nellie. It is outstanding and the fries are just as good. I haven’t tried anything else there, I really want to but I just can’t allow myself to stray. We just moved to the other side of town but don’t you worry Greek Grill, I’m coming back for the gyro.

I’ve visited the greek grill café twice before for lunch. Both times I had one of their wrap sandwiches. Recall them both being pretty tasty. Tonight on the way home from work I was craving a greek pizza so called in a take out order– half cheese half greek. I thought I ordered a traditional greek pizza but when I looked at the pizza it had all this chicken on it. Apparently they have several styles of «Greek» pizza. Even though it wasn’t what I thought I would be getting… both the cheese and«Greek» sides were great. Thin crust, solid amount of cheese and the tomato sauce and chicken both had very unique and delicious taste. Definitely would go back. Only negative is that it kinda smelled weird when I went in the space. Like they had a moisture issue or something which is gross anywhere but especially a food place. Otherwise clean and all great!

Stopped in here off of the Unilocal recommendations, and we were not disappointed! We started out with the hummus appetizer, which was very tasty! Only fault could be for them to toast the pita a tad bit less as it was crispy on the edges. I had the gyro meal with Greek salad instead of fries, again same note on the pita, everything else was great. Lots of meat, fresh veggies and the taziki sauce was different but very good! Hubby had the spinach and feta pie(have no idea how to spell they actual name!) it was a huge portion, came with two meatball things and the grape leaf wrapped thing… sorry I know they began with a K and a D. He enjoyed his meal as well, though due to size could not eat it all. The restaurant was clean and well maintained our service was very nice. The owner was even relaxing with his buddies having a cup of joe! All in all, a tasty place off the beaten path… slightly!

This review is for the Greek Grill Café. I really enjoy myself while dining at the GGC… the interior has a mural on both sides of the interior. Study the clouds for about 15 – 30 seconds… you’ll like what you see. Now for what we always go to a restaurant for, the food! This is really good Greek food. The normal Greek entrees are really excellent and nicely priced. An excellent value for your money, not cheap, but very fair and worth every dollar. Their service is always timely. Yep, it may be in a bit of an out of the way place, but it’s worth it. Westwood is where the Sears Outlet is located. One of my fav Greek places to eat.

Best Greek food in Richmond! My friend and I had a great dinner of traditional souvlaki with all the fixings. Be sure to order your salad«Greeked up» with dolmades and olives. I later learned you can also add anchovies, but it was too late for me. Dessert looked awesome, but we were too full.

Interesting knowledge: the owner is Ukrainian, not Greek. I feel like you can tell that in the flavor of the food. The ‘ziki tasted a little weak to me, not bad, but not that dill, garlic flavor I was hoping for. The fries were a little soggy. Almond cookie was hard and bland. Tiropita was alright, had a great texture.

I almost hate to write a review here, as it’ll mean more traffic for a place that both the spouse & I love and regularly visit. Two things about the Greek Grill Café: the service is friendly and helpful, and the food solidly varies between 4 and 5 stars( Unilocal rating). Can’t beat that. We’ve had, over the past months, the chicken souvlaki, various marinara pastas, the shrimp pockets, and a Greek version of lasagna whose name escapes me at the moment. Oh – and also the tilapia, which is so large we split the dish and order an extra side dish to fill out both servings. If you order any of the pasta dishes, expect to take some back with you. Unless you’ve starved yourself the previous day. Good coffee and tea. Haven’t tried the other drinks, so can’t comment. The restaurant comes up at you rather suddenly on the right, going north on Westwood, just after you’ve passed Tomlynn. It’s opposite the Sears Outlet Store. The parking is actually better than it looks, and the parking in the rear of the building is also not bad, nor is the walk back to the front of the building. DEFINITELY worth a try. Prices are reasonable for what you get, and what you get ain’t skimpy. Edit: If you’ve never had the Greek potatoes, give them a try. They’re sort of like baked potatoes, but in a tomato-ey sauce that has a tangy side-taste. «Waitress? How do I know these are _really_Greek potatoes? I don’t see them waving a bunch of little blue and white flags!» «Well, sir, if you hold them up to your ear and listen just right, you can hear them reciting the Pythagorean Theorem.» Okay, that’s one of the only two Greek jokes I know.

It’s my birthday week, so that means it’s time for some good lunch! I had the Souvlaki with chicken and my husband had the gyro. The difference between the two is the meat and my dish came with grilled peppers on the inside. Both were served with friends. My husband didn’t think he would like the fries. They looked«dark» and he thought they’d be too burnt and crispy. It turned out he loved them, and even went after mine when I offered them to him. The pita was perfectly warm, and not overdone were it’s too crispy or hard of unpleasant. Because of the heat, the feta was able to melt a little, which allowed it to really mix in with all the flavors and create a nice juice. Parking was a breeze, service was quick, and we didn’t wait more than 10 minutes for our food. They’ve got a decent sized seating area, with a back room, so I’m sure they’re pretty popular and can seat plenty. Definitely worth the $ 20 for lunch. They did have some lunch specials, but mostly for things like sandwiches and pizzas, not so much for the Greek items.

A Place That Would Make Every Yaya Happy. I lived with a Yaya(a term of endearment for a Greek grandmother) in Astoria, NY for a year and nearly every night we’d share an authentic greek meal around her tiny wooden table and I’d listen to stories about her homeland. This Greek Grill Café is the closest I’ve gotten to that table and absolutely everything about this place will take you to that extremely blissful food state we all yearn to exist in. Do yourself a favor and venture away from the typical State Fair Greek Food fare — French Fries and Gyros — and you may find yourself, like I did, having a 5 star experience in a 1 star location.(Blink and you’ll miss this place, because it’s hidden around a curve on Westwood avenue). I found everything I tried well-seasoned, hefty, filling, and homey. The staff is friendly. The owners are sweet, sweet people. And you’ll be eating while surrounded by the cheerful murals done by Happy the Artist.

My favorite Greek food in Central VA. Amazing, fresh food, friendly and attentive staff, and the most adorable and sweet owner. This is genuine Greek food. There are all the classic dishes on the menu, and the seasoning is perfect – exactly like cuisine that I have eaten in Greece. The salads are incredible – fresh and filled with a variety of veg, olives, feta, and excellent dolmades. If they have the fried artichokes on the specials, don’t miss it. They are lightly lemony, perfectly cooked, and served with their fantastic tzaziki. The Greek fries are covered in melted feta, also served with tzaziki. Assorted Greek desserts, beer, and wine also available.

Don’t blink or you’ll miss this place as you drive past it! It’s not in the most obvious area of Richmond, but not at all out of the way. If you need some Greek food, consider stopping by the Greek Grill Café. Run by a Greek couple, the food is authentic, the people are friendly, and the restaurant screams Greece. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, but it wasn’t anything spectacular. I ordered the spanakopita, which was a little too greasy, and a little lacking in spinach. Tasted good, but could have been a little better. Our server patiently described each of the desserts in their case, and although I didn’t have any with dinner, it seems like a good place to stop by if you want to bring home some yummy dessert.

I came here for an International Supper Club meeting! The location is somewhat strange, and it is easy to miss when driving on the main road, so be on the lookout! The restaurant itself has a few separate dining areas, and you will notice several bottles of wine around the restaurant. It’s a fairly simple layout inside with modest furnishings, but comfortable and relatively clean. I especially enjoyed the scenery paintings on the walls. This is a very authentic place, and the menu is quite extensive. I was SUPER excited that they had Avgolemono soup, which is one of my favorites. I ordered fish as my entrée, which was tasty and came sitting in quite a bit of olive oil. I was hoping for some skin, bones, and maybe more; alas, it was only a filet. Our group also ordered two appetizers to share: the hummus plate with pita and fried smelts. I suggested the smelts since I love smelts and rarely see it on the menu in restaurants here in Richmond. They were great! The pita was nice and warm, and the hummus was yummy too. At the beginning of our meal, one of the people in our party wanted to know more about the various Greek desserts on the menu(there were neither pictures nor descriptions). Instead, we ended up taking a group field trip to the display case up front, and the waiter pointed out and described each offering individually.(At the end of our meal, I ended up trying the custard dessert, which was quite tasty.) Our waiter was very friendly and down-to-earth, and seemed very proud of the restaurant and its food. He was very helpful and attentive throughout the entire meal. I had a great meal and fantastic dining experience, and will definitely be back! =)

Okay, so I’m not a huge fan of writing five star reviews if I’ve only visited a restaurant once, but Greek Grill Café has won me over. Went here for dinner with the handsome Enoch C. and were seated immediately even though the place was really packed. We ordered the pita and hummus for an appetizer, which was brought out within a good 2 minutes or so after ordering it and it was piping hot. Plentiful amounts of veggies(tomatoes, lettuce, green peppers) were included alongside the pita. And the hummus. Oh dear god. I am not even a big fan of hummus and this was insanely good. One of the waitresses even informed us that it’s handmade in the back by one of their staff. Awesome awesome awesome. For my main course, I got the vegetable wrap. Oh yes, crazy, I know. I’m so adventurous. I wasn’t expecting too terribly much because you can only make vegetables exciting to a certain extent… ORCANYOU??? Ask the people at Greek Grill Café, because I’m sure they would object to that, and so would I. Because my wrap was out of this world good. It was filled to the brim with mushrooms, feta cheese, peppers, tomatoes, all sorts of goods. French fries were also included, which really deserve just as much praise as all the other foods I ate. Sadly, I couldn’t finish my entire meal so I had to box that bad boy up and take it home. I’m happy to report that it tastes just as good re-heated as it does when it’s fresh. Can’t really say what my food-partner-in-crime’s gyro tasted like, but let me just say I have never witnessed a man so happy to be eating food in his entire life. Haha. Service was just as pleasant as the food. Water was kept refilled the entire visit and all the employees were smiling and happy to help. I was soooo tempted to try the baklava but I’ll save that for another time(which, I hope, will be sooner rather than later). You pay your bill up at the front, where a precious old man rings you up and compliments you and bribes you to take their free chocolate. I don’t normally take candy from strangers but when he tells me that I’m in good shape and deserve a piece of chocolate, I will listen and do as I’m told. Atmosphere is cute, no frills, really no other word for it. They definitely went 100% with the Greek theme, with the murals of the country painted all over the walls. Parking is a little fussy, they have their own lot but when it’s busy, it can be a little cramped but that’s probably the worst thing you’ll encounter here because literally everything else is phenomenal.
