Huge fan of this place. For parents who are looking for somewhere indoor for a toddler or young child to play, this is great. Enjoy some coffee or a snack while your child climbs on a jungle gym or pretends in the kitchen or plays with the train set. They have scheduled activities each morning, different each day, so that you can come and have your child participate in singing, art, dance, etc. It is only 30 mins, but the kids seem to really enjoy it. I will keep going back!

We had our son’s second birthday here last year and it was awesome. We planned to have our daughter’s second birthday there this year. I contacted them originally and was told all was well for the day we wanted. All we needed to do was fill out the contract and pay. I contacted them again a couple of weeks later(our party isn’t until January) and they acted really sketchy and non committal. As it turns out they are under new management and were re structuring and didn’t want to promise a time that they could not deliver. That is respectable. However, I was told that they would hold the date for me and I would hear something from them in early November to let me know if that date would work with their new re structuring. Here we are mid December and I have heard nothing. It is just sad because we had a wonderful experience with the previous management. Just thankful I didn’t pay any money. Poor management. Try maymont or cmor for birthday parties.

Can’t comment on the child services they offer because we didn’t use them but we’ve between in twice for a quick cup of Joe and the service was AWESOME. The coffee was tasty as well.

Great place for moms and little kids to hang out and relax. A little pricey for a one time visit but be sure to check Groupon for membership deals.

When I first heard about Cartwheels and Coffee in the Carytown neighborhood of Richmond, I thought that it sounded like a fantastic business model: create a play zone for kids and include a well-tended coffee shop. After visiting, I still like the business model, but think the implementation needs some work. In its current form, the play zones come off as unfinished. There is a large wood play set in one enclosed area, along with riding toys and some big blocks, while the other big area mostly features a train table. For this, the«admission» fee for your child is $ 5.00, and that’s before you buy any coffee or food. Compared to the Children’s Museums in Short Pump, West Broad, or Southside, this is a meager offering for play purposes. Next, the coffee bar itself is more like what you would expect from a cart. A sad display of muffins sits atop the desk, with decent coffee and lattes, but not a full set-up. The muffins and cookies are in a display about the size of the cookie rack at Subway, unrefrigerated. My bill for about a half-hour’s worth of entertainment for my two-year old and my regular(12 oz) latte was 9.50.
