Waffle House

While driving down to Florida, we stopped at a Waffle House in Ashland, VA. After a long nap at a rest stop, we figured, why not go again? Thus, we came to this Waffle House. At the last place we’d ordered waffles, so we made a point to pick non waffle items. I had the bacon grilled cheese, which was part of their $ 5 specials. It tasted more or less like a $ 5 meal.
Service at both locations was curt. Not unexpected, but I did find these ladies slightly more impatient with my brother’s indecisiveness.

The staff are very friendly and the food quality is great. This is one of the better waffle houses.

This Waffle House has five stars. I have no idea why that’s a thing.
That’s not to say that I had a bad time here. But it’s just not a five star experience. Even for a diner it’s not a five star experience.
After being forced off the road by a crazy storm I decided to shack up at the EconoLodge and try out the ubiquitous Waffle House. Both experiences were the definition of mediocre.
The staff at the Waffle House was so pleasant and friendly but the atmosphere was so greasy and kind of gross. Everything was a little shiny from the grease in the air. Heavy. I had a breakfast ‘wrap’ which is really just a breakfast burrito. I took it to go. They served it with mayo which was so weird. Luckily I had sriracha in the car. The wrap was okay. Good tortilla and the eggs were fluffy. The sausage was okay. I wish the cheese was cheddar instead of American.
Even though there are a billion of these in the south I have no intention of returning. My curiosity piqued and now it’s waned. No need to try again. Thanks Waffle House.

The last Waffle House I ate at was in St Louis Missouri, I wasn’t too happy with the food there. On our drive up to Savannah we stopped at this Waffle House I-​95, glad I did. The two man crew, one from Oregon and the cook Milky were excellent hosts. They recommended some items off the menu for the four of us, and we were very happy with the food. All for under $ 20 for all four of us, can’t beat it.

This Waffle House carries on the outstanding tradion of excellent Waffle House breakfast food, service, and clean.
I have frequented this location on numerous occasions and it has never let me down. Close enough to I-​95 for easy access.
