My son and I both ordered the eggs benedict. After 30 minutes the waiter said there was a large party and it would be another 5 – 10 minutes. 20+ minutes later the waiter said it’s going to be a few more minutes and even offered to comp one meal. We were both looking forward to trying the food based on reviews. The waiter was in a bad spot and did a good job, can’t fault him. Won’t be back.

I honestly was looking forward to eating at Marcus café based on their classic menu. However upon entering I was warned about the lack of items present on the menu at that day. Following the struggle to find a viable option I proceeded to wait an hour for food I was to never receive. The owner apparently decided to only serve one party and leave my party and others in limbo. I soon left and went to Frankie’s. The only good thing during the entire ordeal was the waiter, who did a good job at caring and understanding our situation.

I was a bit surprised to find this place more than half empty for Sunday brunch. I hope it was just a fluke because the food and service was great. People are missing out on a gem in Richardson. Had a watermelon margarita to start, and it was tasty. The skillet migas with chorizo was as good as it gets. Relaxed atmosphere.

First visit. The patio is charming. Had a very good mojito. The calamari was outstanding. I ordered the Bleu Avocado Bomb for my entrée expecting a salad. To my surprise it is a round ball of avocado with greens and other salad ingredients mixed in and the ball sits on a lovely drizzle of reduced balsamic. It was fine but I do not recommend it. I wanted a salad not a big glob of ingredients all smashed together. The two people I was with enjoyed their food. As we finished our meal we heard the waitress at the next table listing all the specials of the evening. What? No one had mentioned any specials nor was there a board on the patio listing them. We ordered from a waitperson who was ending his shift. The next person waiting on our table could not know we had not known the specials because we had already ordered. The service with her was excellent until dessert. We had to wait quite awhile for that. I suspect that was the kitchen’s fault and not our waitperson’s fault as she was very attentive.

Went to Marcus with some friends who live nearby. The service was excellent and I loved the ambiance. Outside on the patio, in really nice evening weather, Christmas lights all around. Beautiful. I ordered the lobster ravioli and it was wonderful. My husband loved the sirloin. Definitely check this place out for a fun dinner with friends, or a romantic date night.

I had high expectations going in from previous reviews but it was just okay for me. We started out with nachos and they were delicious and plentiful with mounds of sour cream, guacamole and jalapeños which is unusual. I had the prime rib which was just okay. It was actually a rib eye steak not true prime rib. My husband had the shrimp and grits, again it was just okay. The main reason I probably won’t go back is they keep the dining room lights up bright in the dining room. Our waiter said it’s because they service a mostly older clientele who have trouble seeing in dim light. Regardless, it kind of kills the ambiance. I did enjoy our waiter who was great, Scott.

This place is a gem. It has the charming«Austin» feel of upscale casual. It is a terrific place for dates, meeting friends, special events. The menu is always exciting and they add specials and new introductions all the time — never boring. They have live music on Tuesday nights and Sunday Brunch. I have been for lunches and dinners and always been pleased.

We live right around the corner from Marcus Café, and it’s hands-down our favorite neighborhood place to go for everything from lunch, to dinner, to a casual evening glass of wine and live music on the patio. Now that Marcus Café is under new ownership, the positive changes are evident throughout, and we find ourselves going back again and again! Prime Rib Night on Thursdays is excellent, with a cut of meat that’s tender and delicious, excellent side dishes, and all that for just $ 21. Live music on the gorgeous outdoor patio afterwards is the perfect way to end the evening. Grab a lap robe, sit by the fireplace, and enjoy an after-dinner drink while you listen to the music. Our favorite lunch specials are the El Cubano sandwich, the Chicken Caprese, and the French Dip sandwich. The gluten-free pasta dish with Pork Bolognese is divine! The Ahi Tuna Tower is absolutely delicious, and enough for 2 or 3 people to share as an appetizer. The servers are eager to make your dining experience a positive one, and are warm and friendly. They’re also very knowledgeable about the wine selection, and will make very good recommendations for wine and food pairings. We love the cozy feel of the place with the dark wood, the café lights, the warm, rich colors, and definitely the beautiful patio area(can’t wait for warmer weather!) that offers one of the most enjoyable al fresco dining experiences in the area. The new owners are testing some new menu items, so be sure and give them your feedback. Save room for dessert, especially the Key Lime Pie!

My husband & I had our rehearsal dinner here in June 2015. I really wanted to have it on a patio with lots of café lights so we were so excited when we found Marcus Café. We met with Dawn & Thierry(the chef), several times to set the menu, budget, & work out all the details. We came in for a few tastings, and the moment we tried a bite of one of Thierry’s dishes, we knew right then we wanted to have our rehearsal dinner there. Thierry is from France & he specializes in sauces, so the flavors were to die for. The soups were out of this world. Dawn & Thierry were so nice & personable from the very beginning. Thierry took the time to sit down with us each time to see what our vision was & to make sure we were completely happy. They worked with us to find delicious options for our budget. They made a little individual menu for each guest with choice of soup or salad, 3 entrée options &2 different desserts, & wine & beer. We stayed within our budget for our party of 36 people. Everyone loved the food & the service was great. It was warm because we were outside in Texas in June, but they provided misters which was great! The only thing that could have made it more perfect was to have been able to reserve the entire patio just for our party, but our party wasn’t big enough. That could have made it a little more intimate, but other than that, everything was spot on. It was such a fun process to work with them from beginning to end. We love how it’s a neighborhood restaurant. Lots of regulars go there. There are nightly specials. Everyone knows everyone. The customers are friends. It’s such a cozy place. I highly recommend going here just for a meal, for a party, for a rehearsal dinner, or for any occasion. They will take care of you. Thank you, Marcus Café, for making our rehearsal dinner memorable & delicious! Brittney

Outstanding again! This time I brought the office to enjoy the food, service and atmosphere of my favorite restaurant. As has been my experience every time, it was a home run! Michael was a great help steering us through the lunch menu! You guys have a great staff! Now about your food… I can’t seem to find a menu item that doesn’t impress! This time I tried the chicken sandwich with fries. Oh my god! It was wonderful! And those pickles… Tasty! The table enjoyed the Midwesterner, Ahi Tower, Chicken Gouda Lasagna and Chicken Caesar Salad. Rave reviews were given by all! The patio won raves too! For the appropriate ending I suggested dessert but couldn’t convince everyone to partake in the fabulousness. I knew the deal, though. We took a slice of Reese’s Pieces and coconut cream pie with us to share. OMG! Scrumptious!!! Marcus Café has created a co-dependent relationship with me. I’m sure the others will be returning but not as soon as me! Love this place!!!

Hockey puck pork chop, fishy salmon and rice served with the calamari. Strange and unappetizing. We won’t be back.

Made reservation through opentable app. Arrived to be greeted by a rude bearded man that tells us all he has available is outdoors(it’s 105 today). I told him I made a reservation on purpose to secure a table. He said well other people have come in and I seated them inside so you can sit at the bar. We told him we would go somewhere else and he said nothing. We turned around left and went across the way to Frankie’s which didn’t disappoint. Excellent service and food. Don’t waste your time on Marcus Café. Clearly do not care about their small customer base.

Great spot hidden in Canyon Creek! Consistently delicious specials and the Risotto melts in your mouth! Bread is delicious! Always a plus. Wonderful service always and they are very attentive no matter how large or small your party is. Love being so close to this restaurant!

Bread/tomato sauce — couldn’t stop eating it. Atmosphere: you would never find this place casually — it’s nestled between residential subdivisions, but the area has a walkable, affluent vibe. The restaurant itself feels like a nice neighborhood joint — smaller, well appointed(for not being a steakhouse). Staff: everyone from the host to the chef were very friendly. You can tell this isn’t a corporate chain because they seem informal with each other(I mean that in a good way). Chicken fried steak — well done, but doesn’t have the pepper in the batter for the spice. Chicken was tender, mashed potatoes were good(not too rich), green beans are green beans. Pork chop — had the best flavor. Marinated and cooked very well. California pizza — about as good as a chicken/vegetable pizza can be. If you’re healthy like my friend, you’ll love it. If you’re more like me, order something more traditional, Bc the bones of the pizza(sauce and crust) are very good, and the pizza is reportedly a popular dish. Strawberry shortcake — it is not a Duncan Hines mix(meaning, the cake isn’t pink). It’s a well presented cake with layers of strawberries, cream cheese filling, and dense white sponge cake. Lava cake — very well done, think more flourless cake portion than Big piece of cake portion. Served warm, and ask for a scoop of ice cream. Wine: the septima was probably the smoothest Malbec I’ve had to date. Worth a trip.

I was in culinary heaven yesterday. Had the El Cubano sandwich at Marcus Café and for the first time in years I was pleased to say the least. The Soup De Jours was exquisite as well and it was the best food I have had in Dallas yet. Ambiance at the terrace was great and the owner is the Chef(French) who knows how to cook. Will go there many times from now.

The BF and I went here for lunch on Saturday night and were confused by the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. The ambience on one side was nice, nicely lit with nice décor, almost as if it were trying to more upscale French cuisine place. However, the other side seemed like a loud sports bar with a big screen TV screening the game. It was distracting, to say the least. Our waiter was prompt, and I have nothing bad to say about the service. He never let our glasses become half full and went over the specials promptly. He was friendly but not annoyingly so. We were brought out bread and menus. The bread was nothing to rave about, it didn’t really taste housemade. The oil and vinaigrette dipping sauce was a lot better than the traditional butter. I couldn’t make sense of what this restaurant was supposed to be. They had Tex-Mex and pizza and steak and fish and seafood… It seemed rather hodgepodge to me– like they couldn’t decide what angle to go with. We got the Junior Mussels Mariniere appetizer which was served in this nice butter white wine sauce and was probably my favourite part of the meal. They used smaller muscles than what I am used to. As far as value goes I didn’t think it was worth the $ 14 we paid for them. I ordered the Salmon with Champagne Pico de Gallo Cream– my initial reaction when reading this on the menu was confusion, but I figured I would give it a try. I substituted the potatoes for extra asparagus and was charged $ 1 for the substitution, no big deal. The BF ordered the Chicken Caprese. The champagne sauce was tasty and the pico de gallo, just ended up being chunks of tomatoes and onions mixed into the champagne sauce. The champagne sauce was okay, not super flavorful and probably would have been better without throwing in the«pico de gallo.» The serving size was generous and the fish was cooked pretty much perfectly. Again for the price of $ 21 it didn’t seem worth it. The asparagus seemed relatively unoriginal, unflavorful and the ends were a little bit burnt which made them bitter. The BF liked his. I tried the picked, and they were very generous with the mozzarella. Overall our dinner was okay. Nothing to rave about. We may give this place another chance every once in a while, but it wasn’t very memorable. I don’t see this being a regular place for us.
