This is a small but orderly Amtrak station. It features only Amtrak trains. Only one station south of this station, is the northern hub station for Metro-North(Poughkeepsie-MTA station.). This however, does not feature Metro-North. Trains come, just about once per hour. And, although the Lake Shore Limited trains do not stop at this station, riders themselves will see this train coming past twice every day(one each direction). The only problem you’ll have, if you have a lot of luggage, is there is a low platform, that holds a separate platform step, that will assist you in boarding the train. If you don’t mind paying a slightly stiffer price, this is a good station for the trains you take to New York City. Parking is free everyday. However, it depends where you park. Some spots in an unattended lot nearby the station are free all day(up to several days in a week.) However, there is a lot nearby to the train station itself, that allows people to park for short periods of time. Even closer nearby the station, there are handicapped spots. And even further out(and closer to the station) there are several local-taxi cab companies pulling up occasionally. For the majority of trains traveling through this station(and some even stopping at this station) are trains from Albany(station in nearby Rensellaer), NY. There are also trains that come from Niagara Falls and Toronto, as well as Montréal and Burlington, VT. But choose wisely, as your choice may be more slightly packed, if picked up during rush hour times.
