Nice comfortable room. Beautiful view. Friendly staff and nice breakfast. They warned is of train noise but it didn’t bother us(or even notice) and we enjoyed the Jacuzzi.

Great place to stay for a night but any more than that will leave you broke! The staff were nice and accommodating although most of the time that we were there(just 24 hours) there was nobody at the front desk. There are no refrigerators in the rooms but they are happy to store something in the kitchen fridge and give you buckets of ice. We stayed on the second floor(it’s actually the third floor but second floor of rooms). The balcony was amazing. I could sit out there forever. The décor was artsy and there was a lot of wood which we loved. The bathroom was huge and luxurious. I spent a lot of time in there! The food isn’t so good so take advantage of your free brunch but go elsewhere for dinner.

I wish i could give this place zero stars. We never actually made it up to the B&B because my boyfriend had a death in his family and we had to cancel our reservation 3 days prior to our check in. We called and emailed as soon as we found out about the death — no response. I called back again the next day to find out that they were cancelling the reservation without charging us the full amount ‘as a courtesy’ but really only because the manager ‘worked very hard’ to get the room rebooked(and probably charged the new guests a premium). I was also informed that the Rhinecliff would still be charging us a 10% fee of the original rate because of late cancellation. I asked the manager, James, if he could kindly wave the fee since it was an extraordinary circumstance. He told me that if he did that for every customer who asked for special treatment, he’d be out of business. It’s pretty sad that they could not accommodate my request. the fee comes out to $ 28. I guess they are desperate for every penny that they can get. Needless to say, we will not be staying here the next time we make a trip to Rhinebeck.

Unprofessional sums up my experience with the Rhinecliff. I had heard how charming the hotel was and wanted to stay here during an upcoming wedding. The hotel said it wouldn’t book before three months out. When I called, no one ever answered so I had to leave a message. I called three times and left message before I received a call back. I was now told the reservation would have to be made two months in advance, but they would put me on a list. I called two months in advance… three times and left a message. A week later, I have still not received a call back. Even if business is so good you don’t need to return a call, it is still rude to say the least to not return a call. Many of us who are attending the wedding wanted to book rooms, but after receiving the same non-response, no of us will ever book with the Rhinecliff again, and plan to tell our friends to do the same. Sad.

After searching for a B&B to stay in, I was so excited to find this place. It’s situated right on the Hudson next to the commuter train, so convenient for a weekend trip from NYC if you find yourself carless! Tricia was so helpful checking us in and making sure we were situated. Her friendly disposition made us feel at home almost immediately. Our room was spacious and well kept. The bathrooms had this awesome whirlpool tub and a great overhead shower. Our TV didn’t work but we headed out to watch the Jets game anyway so it didn’t matter Much though would have been better had it worked… Devlin was the waiter/host downstairs in the café. He made us a wonderful French press coffee and everything included. He was so friendly and easy going. A must stay if you are in the area or looking for a place to weekend trip !

My wife and I were extremely disappointed with our stay. Yes the view is absolutely gorgeous and the room is very nice but for the $ 350 dollar per night price tag it’s not worth it. At that price point you’d expect something in the way of amenities, professional staff, perhaps house keeping? We received none of that. The person who checked us in was a waitress and kept referring to the front desk staff as «special» because she couldn’t find the room key. For house keeping we had two very young girls knock on our door at around 9am while we were showering and getting ready for the day. We said now wasn’t a good time and upon return to the hotel that night, they hadn’t returned to tidy the room. The bed wasn’t made, coffee tray wasn’t removed and towels weren’t replaced. It was by no means a romantic get away and not worth the money. Too bad. The hotel has such great potential.

We were looking for a nice place for brunch and my wife came across the Rhinecliff Hotel on Unilocal. My band played there over ten years ago and it was not the kind of place I would think to eat at(I’m being kind). Well, ten years later and the only thing that stayed the same was the name. Everything about the place was wonderful, from the staff to the setting. They even had a great jazz duet, something I appreciate as a musician myself. The food was great. We brought our two sons, 6 and 10. My 6 year old will eat anything, my 10 year old is the pickiest eater I’ve met, and they both loved it. I rarely speak to the manager to express my opinion, but I just had to tell him how much we enjoyed everything. Some reviews mentioned the train station, but it isn’t that loud and actually adds to the charm. The view of sail boats on the Hudson River is amazing. We will be back.

Beware — untrustworthy; left us stranded. Before we even took the long trip there to look at the place, we corresponded by e-mail. I made it clear this would be a small wedding. We checked with James, the owner/manager, that our date was available, and that our wedding party size was ok and visited the site. We confirmed that we would like to reserve the date, and James said he would e-mail the paperwork for us to sign and make a deposit. We shook hands and departed. James then went completely missing! We called and e-mailed. At first I thought he was being his iffy self as he had been a bit sporadic in responding in the past, but numerous phone calls, e-mails, and messages later, we realized he apparently just abandoned us for a larger group and was giving us the runaround. The hotel itself was similarly non-responsive. Luckily for us, we found a more beautiful site — with more responsive coordinator– just in time. However, the lost time and the added stress are nothing any bride needs in an already stressful time. Unprofessional and unethical. Don’t trust the reviews on theknot, either. They screen out the bad ones and only show good reviews. That’s why I hadn’t seen others’ similar experiences with the Rhinecliff.

I love this place. It should be looked at as an ideal example for excellent excellent professional service. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the bartenders, to the wait staff was so so incredibly friendly, professional, relaxing and qualified. I had to get away from the city and their warmth and kindness really helped me ease my stress. The hotel is beautiful, very old school charming with the most beautiful rooms overlooing the hudson river, gorgeous bathrooms with jacuzzi in bath tub right under the huge windows overlooking the sunset. lovely private balconies and the most comfortable beds and pillows EVER!!! woke up to a cozy breakfast in front of the cracking fireplace in the dining room w soothing music playing. Only an hour by train from penn station and literally a minute walk right off the Rhinecliff train stop. makes this the PERFECT getaway spot even for just one night escape from the city. LOVEDIT! Thank you to the lovely staff. My stay was on the weekend of 3⁄15 as reference for the management. :-)

Thank God for the Rhinecliff. They saved our butts big time when Rufflands Farms bailed on our wedding contract 2 months before our wedding! James was so great. He took care of every last detail and gave us a great price. The rooms are stunning and clean as a whistle. We took every room in the place for our wedding and he gave us a great deal on them. The food was really great and they really worked with us to get as many Organic items included as possible, including the brunch the day after the ceremony. When we realized that our garden wedding was going to be rained out(two stunning sunny days sandwiched our rainy(it rained from 5am-midnight) wedding day) they helped us come up with a beautiful rain contingency that looked great. They were so gracious when we asked if a tattoo artist be allowed to come in and tattoo my husbands wedding ring on during cocktail hour. They didn’t even bat an eye lash. The bartender invented a great cucumber, mint martini drink as a signature cocktail. All of our guests had a lovely time. The bridal suite is amazing. Enough said.

Had such a lovely overnight stay at the Rhinecliff. We arrived on a cold, foggy evening, exhausted, and were immediately cheered by the white lights that twinkled on the beautiful yellow building. We received an incredibly warm greeting from the very charming owner, James, and his wonderful staff. Our room was huge, with windows and a deck(although it was too cold to use it) that overlooked the ice and snow covered Hudson. The bathroom was NYC apartment sized, with a giant whirlpool tub and two sinks. Once we settled in, we made our way to the bar for a light dinner. While it wasn’t a full menu, there was plenty to choose from. We had a wonderful cheese board, truffle parm fries, and a big delicious salad. Warm mulled wine. A sweet bartender. Early to bed on the most comfortable king ever; the train did not keep me up at all. Up early to see the most glorious lavender and gold sky over the river. Big delicious English breakfast, way more generous than it needs to be, and they’ll even bring it to your room if you prefer, although the dining room is cheerful. We hated to leave after just one night, but I am sure we will be back! Thanks to everyone at the Rhinecliff for such a great time.

This is a hotel and restaurant right by the Hudson River. To all of my fellow city slickers this is a great weekend get away. Take the Amtrak to Rhinecliff station and your there. I had the brunch which is hard to screw up, had no complaints. It’s a very nice old hotel with bar and restaurant. To my friend who did not like the seafood; my rule of thumb is no sea food if there is no sea near by ie Upstate, NY

Absolutely beautiful hotel room. The jacuzzi tub was huge(I took a bath twice!), and the balcony was great to sit with a book and take in the view of the Hudson River. The train did not bother me very much. Only complaint is that some flies and fruit flies made their way into my room when I had the window open because I think my room was closest to the trash bin. Maybe a screen door would help?

My stay here was as good as it gets! The room was immaculate, service was amazing and breakfast was really good(almost too good and very filling) We were in room 302 and really I was very pleased with everything.

Had a great stay. It was very quite and we were not disturbed by the trains just feet away. I highly recommend the suite(Room 304) with the huge outdoor balcony. Wish we had more time on the balcony. Worth every penny and a great deal compared to other destinations in the Hudson Valley and upstate. Perfect for a break from the city.

Fantastic! Dinner here was delicious, and if the Rhinecliff’s restaurant was in NYC I would go there(this is my test as to whether a place is REALLY good). Views are stunning, prices very reasonable. Rooms are not cheap, but that’s simply the area. The Holiday Inn in Kingston is around $ 150 for a room with no view and it doesn’t come with a full breakfast like the Rhinecliff’s, so this was a good deal. Simplistic and beautiful is how I would describe the décor, and the staff was always helpful! Best wishes to James and everyone at the Rhinecliff!

We had our wedding at The Rhinecliff in May and had been to the restaurant numerous times to try it out and do tastings prior to that. All in all, we absolutely loved the food and drinks – James was amenable to concocting a truly«signature cocktail» based on our guidelines. Many of our guests commented that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. In addition, Erica was a lifesaver the day of – we couldn’t have done it without her! In addition, the bridal suite was beautiful and so functional to get ready in. When we had to move to another room for the next night, it was also wonderful. The rain showerheads are a real highlight! The only criticisms have to do with the availability of the staff. The morning after our wedding, I attempted to call the front desk many times in order to receive the breakfast spread(champagne, coffee, french toast, etc.) that we had been promised. After becoming quite hungry, I ventured downstairs and alerted a kitchen staff member that we were ready to receive our meal. They did bring it promptly after that, but it was disappointing. In addition, some of our guests noticed that the front desk was not consistently staffed, which led to some inconveniences. Still, we highly recommend this venue for weddings and dinners!

A friend chose The Rhinecliff for her wedding, and that was pretty much the best decision she ever made. Worst decision? Getting married the weekend Hurricane Irene hit(not that she could predict that, but oh well). The wedding party stayed at The Rhinecliff and the staff was kind, hospitable, helpful and did everything they could to make us more comfortable and the bride less stressed out. When my husband and I(foolishly!) decided to try to brave the hurricane Sunday morning and escape, the staff stocked us up with freshly baked croissants, several cups of French press coffee and a box of danish. They dug us up garbage bags to cover our luggage. This is all Above And Beyond stuff, too. The place itself is gorgeous; every meal we had was fantastic; the drinks were generous, creative and delicious. I really hope that we can go back sometime on a non-hurricane weekend.

Rhinecliff Hotel was our treat on our East Coast venture. It was a nice bed and breakfast over looking the Hudson River. What a beauty. The room was so nice and the bed, comfortable, so much that my neck actually was sore in the morning, the pillows were so fluffy! The people were alright until we went down for breakfast, the gal was obviously in school at the CIA(which is were my love went, why we went there) and she was so attentive and sweet. The bed: fabulous The view: stunning The room: had a shower head that was in the ceiling and taking a shower felt like you were standing int he rain, a romantic, soothing feeling all at the same time. The bath tub was huge! The windows open up(if you dare) to the deck overlooking the beautiful Hudson River. An expensive treat. Well worth the drive. The surrounding area is peaceful and sweet. The kind of place that a scary murder movie would be filmed(and probably has) and the kind of the place you want to retire to :)

Oh my how times have changed-when I was a student at Bard in the mid-late 90’s The Rhinecliff was a dingy place to get a beer(or 37) shoot some pool, and maybe see a local band. In 2003 the Rhinecliff underwent a major renovation and is now a swank boutique hotel right along the Hudson River-easily accessible by Amtrack or 90 miles drive from NYC. I came here for the wedding of a very dear friend and everything was on point-the staff was helpful, the food was delicious(when is the last time you could say that about wedding food) The location is picturesque it was lovely. As another Unilocaler mentioned if you are staying in the hotel the trains come and go as do some large ships-i’m not a light sleeper but if you are maybe bring your laptop and hook into or bring you ipod(EVERY room has an i-home docking station) The bathtub/shower set up is pretty amazing. The art on the walls kind of reminded me of a Bard Senior Project not sure if it is temporary or permanent.
