I wished I could give this place a 0 or maybe even –1. Filthy dirty place not sure how the remain open. Foods terrible(I had to throw a lot of it away and I hate throwing away food), it was super expensive for such a getteo dirty place and worse if all the guy that worked there(probably the owner) had no sense of customer service. I’m just Amazed such places exist! Wow!!!

I had meat with rice. The rice was dry. No sauce. Only a lemon is served with the rice. Salad is served separately. Meat was okay but not sure if it was really fresh. Same for the rice. Price was quiet high.

Couldn’t believe it I would never have thought the place was this amazing. I will deathly be going back here very soon. Also they have these amazing chicken or beef sandwiches for just 299. That beats Subway 6 inch and foot long five dollar subs any dayit was so damn good I brought my friend back from the barbershop to get another onemake sure you tell them to put limited sauce though my friend actually thought it was something else but it wasn’t a book about kebab house I’m sure there are other dishes are really good but if you don’t want to pay 1099 or 1199 for a person then you can just spend 299 to get a sandwich oh my God

I started this review wishing I could give it 5, stars, but as great as the food was,(And that food was pretty great), I don’t know about the management being racist? The food it’s self was fantastic, and the atmosphere was quiet nice, but some of these other reviews point out that the owner is a racist pric, be that as it may, the food was still really good, and I never met the owner sooo i have to give four stars

Just watch the news, owners refused to pay their employee and in top of all they call immigration on him. Don’t eat and make a profit for people that have no respect for workers. El dueño de este restaurante se negó a pagarle a su empleado y como si eso no fuera suficiente llamo a immigracion, el esta en peligro de ser deportado dejando aqui a su esposa y e hija. No consuman de gente que explota y abusa sus trabajadores.

I’ve been here multiple times and tried a variety of menu items. The Qabli Palau is the signature dish. The rice has raisins and other stuff it in and it’s very tasty(although greasy). There is meat on the bottom. Sometimes the meat is pretty tough and other times it’s all right. For the price, the amount of meat that you get is pretty minimal. The kabobs are OK… not spectacular. I’ve always experienced an inconsistency with the meat. The Persian and Afghan breads are actually pretty decent and freshly baked. If you’re looking for a great bakery for baked breads, this is your place. If you’re looking for an Afghan or Persian feast, keep looking.

I wanted to like this place, but I just didn’t. If the food was better, it’d be the perfect hidden gem. Tucked in a non-descript strip mall in random Reseda. Owner of Afghani descent. Minimalist décor with a fuzz TV tuned to the local news in the back. But alas, the food was unremarkable. I tried the specialties. The ravioli dish was ok. But the risotto dish was boring enough that I walked away from it and got a banh mi across the street after. Wish there was better news to report.

Approaching what is more than a decade of battle in war torn Afghanistan, it was difficult to know what to expect for this culinary adventure. However we quickly discovered the ancient history of trading Persian, Indian, and Chinese spices along the Silk Road, took us to a time where this landscape once flourished. And so the feast began with a less than Persian iceberg salad. Not what we expected but perhaps a deliberate distraction while the owner, his wife and assistant cooked up their signature appetizer; crescent moons of weightless dough filled with sweet beef and scallions, wading in a pool of tart yogurt sauce and topped with spicy, garlicky crumbles of beef. This complex and aromatic dish was simply known as dumplings. The trio resurfaced from the kitchen arms stacked with steaming platters. Gabili Palau, a legendary Afghan rice dish made of raisins, shredded carrots, cinnamon, cumin, cardamom and chunks of beef. Bulani, the Afghan version of Dosa only flattened and filled with a thin layer of potato and leeks and served with a spicy cilantro dipping sauce. Vegetables included sweet, long braised eggplant and Sabzi Chalau, a creamy blend of spinach and onion also with chunks beef. There was a savory chicken dish, curry-like in color and flavor dotted with red and green peppers. And more rice, the traditional basmati variety and Shoala Gushti, a daffodil-yellow sticky rice stewed with garbanzo beans, chilies, dill, and more chunks of beef. The final scene at the table resembled that of a war zone with clumsily scattered dishes picked clean to the rims. But this was the only resemblance to the ravaged third world country we read about in the news today. Khybar is a sumptuous experience in global gastronomy and, as close as Reseda Blvd &405. The bill tallied $ 18 per person including tip and bottled water, $ 15.50 if we only knew to request LA’s finest. And no corkage if you bring your own!

I was there last night, 7 pm, we were the only people there, salad came quickly and it was ok, we ordered chicken and meat cubes kabob and, rice dish with veal(national dish) I noticed that they were using microwave and there was no smell of food grilling, i was annoyed by that but since we already ate the salad i didn’t want to say anything, food came. rice were ok but the meat, over cooked, dry, warm outside but cold inside terrible! Kabob was the terrible meat I ever ate in my life, red meat was almost gray in the middle, I think meals are cooked more than a day advance and they are just microwaving. I don’t know how the others giving good rating! this restaurant is a shame! we ordered the most basic meal kabob, how can any restaurant serve microwave day old kabob, this is insane!!. By the way La Times has review about this place, shame on you to!

Went here for the first time today. I had the Qalabi Palau, which the menu claims is the national dish of Afghanistan. This was my first experience with Afghan food and all I can say is… wow! The dish was big enough for two but I finished it all myself. Minus one star for the sub par service and the mediocre salad. But the food was really just that good.

Khyber Restaurant serves Afghan and Persian cuisine. It’s a tiny little restaurant next to a video store that caters to the Afghan and Persian community. The owner is friendly and will offer advice if you’re unsure what to choose. The meats are absolutely delicious and well seasoned. There are a variety of kabobs and local Afghani specialties. Diners have a choice of rice(a basmati — delicious) or flat bread which is an enormous portion and nearly covers the entire plate. I’ve noticed most locals seem to choose the bread. Either way, you can’t go wrong. Excellent food at a moderate price. The average bill shouldn’t come to more than $ 12.00 per person, and for that you will receive a very filling meal.
