Went to this restaurant because I love middle eastern food. WOW, Horrible… Not only was the food old(I guess because it’s not busy), the service was terrible. I saw a cockroach on the floor. They should exterminate… DON’T TRYTHISONE.

Not sure how to review the place its a mixture of good and bad . The restaurant seem to be run by a family, a mom a daughter(maybe) and a gentleman who can maybe the husband or the owner or the waiter I can’t tell . I love family run restaurants and I wish I could give a better review but here is my observation : Gentleman taking the order was a bit confused about what we ordered, came back a few times to repeat it and had a hard time understanding that we wanted BOTH the humus and the eggplant as appetizer(could’ve been a language thing) . I asked if they had a special drink he offered the yogurt– mint drink that we often see in middle eastern markets and restaurants . I didn’t really understand when he said«yoghurt» first so I asked if it had milk in it to make sure we are talking about the same thing? He insisted it doesn’t have milk so I asked him to bring out a one bottle and the first ingredient was listed as milk on the back of the bottle. So I stuck to water . So we ordered: appetizer humus and eggplant and a cucumber salad and a mixed plate of food that listed the usual minced beef and minced chicken and chicken chicken kabob and fish kabob on the menu . Food came out wrong, instead the eggplant we got some mixed pickled vegetables. The lady who may be the owner … quickly took it back(the gentleman from before walked out at this point and never came back) and 5 min later brought out the eggplant. Which was very good by the way I have to give it 4.4−5 stars. Humus 3.5– 4 stars cucumber salad 4 stars . The main meal came and when I looked at it I could not identify the fish and I pointed to something that I hoped was the fish and so I asked the lady… she answered: «that’s beef we don’t have fish«. Dear waiter, please tell the customer up front if you don’t have an item that day. Dear owner tell the waiter what is missing from the menu . I don’t eat red meat and the whole reason we ordered the mixed place is because of the fish . There was no apology or nothing simply«we don’t have it «. Part of the rice was under cooked and hard. Part was good. Also the dead animal skins on the wall should come down its unappetizing.

I was initially intending to just check in at this place; but I was surprised by all the single stars I saw, which is why I’ll try to put in my 2 cents!!! To the contrary, I’ve had very pleasant experiences the handful of times I’ve been there. This place is in fact a small hole in the wall place in a 7 – 11 strip mall and it isn’t a 5 star gourmet cuisine. However, it does offer tasty ethnically diverse meals at a decent price. Customer service I received has been good all the times I’ve been there and will definitely go back in the future.

I must say I liked this place. The customer service is decent, the owner is mainly always there and he’s very nice. The food tastes good and fresh, his prices are also reasonable and you get a good portion and your money’s worth. I usually get the koobideh or the kabob or mantoo. If your in the area looking for good Persian food try it, you won’t be disappointed!

Okay so the food is decent… That’s not what the one star is for. Food-wise, 3 stars. My mom likes this place, so we grab lunch here about once a month. Sorry mom, this was the last time. So first off, they don’t update the prices on their menu — so you’re likely to get charged $ 1 more than what you think you will. But wait, here’s what really ticked me off: I wasn’t feeling too hot and ordered hot tea, the menu reads«Hot tea(one refill) $ 1.75». When I got the check, I see it’s about $ 2 more than it should be. I’m not a cheapskate, I usually tip very well, but I expect to be charged the right amount — I’ve had a few small places try to over charge by a couple bucks(I think they get away with it with other people?) So here’s how the convo with the guy went: me: «How did you come to this total?» guy: «You got two teas» me: «I got one refill» guy: «that’s two» me: «the menu says ‘one refill’ « guy: «the third refill is free» me: «so even though it says it includes a free refill, it’s only after you pay for two?» guy: «yes» me: *with a very confused look* «that’s stupid» so I left ZERO tip and have ZERO intentions of returning. I’m not sure if they poorly wrote their menu or if the guy made up some bullshit to rip me off — but either of those result in the same thing, a lost customer and a bad Unilocal review — I hope it was worth the $ 1.75 you got from me.

I’ve been here twice for the lunch buffet. I do have both good and bad things to say about this place so I prefer to start with the bad. The BAD: Even though the buffet is all you can eat, they do this weird thing where they make you use really small plates for refills. So when you want to get more food, you have to stack it all on these little saucers. Not sure why, but I hope they’re doing it to minimize waste because it makes them look like total cheapskates. Also the service is lackluster. Both times I’ve been there, nobody has ever come by to ask how the meal was or haul the dirty plates away. The GOOD: It’s only $ 7.99 for all-you-can-eat Persian Kabob so I can’t complain too much. They had both ground chicken and ground beef kabob the first time I went but the second time they had only ground beef. That’s ok because between the two, I prefer the ground beef anyway. Because it’s served on a buffet steam tray, the meat is not quite as hot or as succulent as something you’d get at Shamshiri. Still, it’s not bad and definitely *way better* than Adelina’s(Is that place still even around?) in the Northridge Mall. The first time I went, they had stewed okra which was alright but not that flavorful and Basmati rice that looked better than it tasted. However, the second time I went, they had replaced the okra with stewed spinach and I thought the rice tasted much better. The spinach seemed like their own take on Indian Saag, but whatever it was, complimented the rice deliciously. Service as usual, was basically non-existent so I assumed they weren’t expecting a tip. That actually works for me because my main pet peeve about eating at sit-down restaurants is feeling compelled to leave one. Here, I feel no such compulsion and I’m free to focus on the food — which is what a buffet is all about, right? And at $ 7.99 for all-you-can-eat Kabob, it just might be the Mid-Valley’s best lunch deal.

my boyfriend has this obsession… OBSESSION i repeat… with kabobs. he craves them in the way i will randomly crave hot cheetos. weird. ok. so i’ve had kabobs and i dont know how memorable they are. but i came to visit him at lunch and we went here so he could PROVE to me that it’s amazing. i wasn’t amazed. but i didn’t dislike it. i love how they bring the rice with butter and have the tomato too. its so simple but so good. reminds me of my childhood where i had steaming rice with butter and soy sauce.(yayy go asians…) i got the chicken koobideh. ok… seriously? i expected it to be dry and well… chicken. it was tender and juicy and flavorful. if you ask, they will bring you whole serrano peppers but they are FRICKINSPICYMOTHEREFF. i LOVE spicy so it was great, but dont ask if you dont want it. also, they have this… spice? its like a dried plum tasting thing. its a bit on the bitter and sweet side. i could do without it. but try it. i will come back here for the sake of my boyfriend. but i’m not at the point of CRAVING it yet. i gave it four stars because it was good food and the service was WONDERFUL. our lady was sweet, accommodating, and smiled a lot. but the tv is a bit annoying. watching smurfs in the native language is just odd while im trying to eat.

The food is good but the portions are very small considering this is a persian restaurant and persians don’t eat that little. Price is ok. Customer service is good. I will go back there but only on the days that I’m not very hungry!

I went here because I had just picked up dry cleaning from nextdoor and was hungry. The food was not very good at all. The salad that comes with the meal had crappy ranch dressing on it. Every Persian and Middle Eastern restaurant I’ve ever been to has always served some sort of lemon homemade dressing so it was already starting out on a bad note. The rice had the smallest amount of saffron on it that I had ever seen. The only thing that is giving it more than one star is the chicken. It was juicy and after squeezing lemon on it actually had some flavor. Will never go back.

I went here and I was disappointed. The rice was ok and didn ‘t have much flavor, and the guy that took my order was just plain out rude. I asked him for a menu and he gave me look of disdain because they had a menu on the wall,(well I didn’t have my glasses so I couldn’t read it) The only reason I went there was because I was craving Persian food. Overpriced, bad service and overrated.

so… i went to this place last night with 2 other people. I said Unilocal had great reviews and we need to give it a shot. THEWORSTEXPERIENCEEVER!!! So bad that all we could do was laugh about it. They didnt have ckn koobideh which is one of the skewers that came with the combo so we said we would pay the difference for a ckn kabob, which on the menu was $ 1 difference. We suggested that we would pay the $ 1 and the waitress did not understand at all. We ordered Hummus and they were out of it. She asked if we wanted the yogurt instead and we asked if we could try a little to see if we like it, she brought an entire thing out and when we didnt like it she still charged us for the entire thing and gave us an annoyed look. We ordered tea and it was basic tea and they charged us $ 1.50 per refill., and didnt let ud know… not worth it. In addition to all ofthis, The bill came out to $ 46 for 2 meals. one meal was $ 10.99 and the other $ 15.99 she charged us $ 7.99 for the substitute ckan kabob and said thats how much one swewer costs, even though they were out of the ckn koobideh and it was in its place! We tried to explain to her for 20 min that we didnt understand how the skewer could be 7.99 and that we didnt want that yogurt. All she did was take $ 3 off. FOR A HOLEINTHEWALLPLACENEXTTO A 7ELEVENFOR2MEALSITCOST $ 46ANDTHEAWFULSERVICE. i will never go back, ever!!!

omg, if you like Persian food or you like Kabobs in general you absolutely must eat in this place. The place is a little far from ventura blvd but that makes it a hidden GEM! I rate this place 5 Golden Stars, the BEST and I mean the BEST Koobideh I have ever tasted anywhere in the world. They catered a party for me last week, 200 people all loved the food and couldn’t get enough of it.
