Dr. Kales has been my Optometrist for over 30 years. He does a terrific job. He was able to diagnose early stages of cataracts in both of my eyes. I get my eye exams every couple of years and it’s always quick and efficient. I recommend Dr. Kales.

I needed an eye doc that would take medicaid for contact exams. I called this place and the lady over the phone told me that they did take it. So I made an appointment and when I walked in, the lady at the desk was digging around in her filing cabinets and she didn’t turn around to greet me for a good 45 seconds. And before even saying hi, she looked at my hand and told me to put my soda down on the counter.
I checked in for my appointment… and waited uncomfortably for the doc. He comes in and introduces himself to me and then goes around the desk and starts arguing with the receptionist. ARGUING. It seemed like they were married to each other. I wouldn’t be surprised.
So this doctor, tyson kales, starts doing my contact exam and he pulls out a contact case and fills it with solution. He tells me to take out my contacts… he didnt show me to a sink so i can wash my hands first or anything! Wtf! Then he asked me what insurance I have. I told him medicaid and he told me that medicaid covers glasses, and not contacts. He said he doesn’t know why the receptionist told me that they accepted medicaid. I specifically told her; for CONTACT lenses. I even specified it in my information forms that I filled out while checking in.
He asked if I was going to pay out of pocket for the exam I said so. He told me that he can only give me a regular glasses exam. Ok fine, I guess. Free glasses? Better then nothing!
So he started checking my eyes and he wanted to know what brand contact I had, and if I knew what my prescription was. I told him something like –3.50 and he asked if I knew what the «power» was. I didnt. He then went on to say my eyes haven’t changed much and he wrote me the same prescription i already had. He then took me to another room, and told me i could pick out a pair of «free glasses». I was surprised at the selection of frames I could choose from. That was the best part of the whole experience. The selection of glasses.
So I chose a pair and then he sent me on my way… The glasses took about two weeks and they called me to come pick them up. I really didn’t want to go back in that place so I had my boyfriend go pick them up for me. I won’t be coming back here ever again.

Please do not come here if you have keratoconus! This doctor claims to be an expert in keratoconus but when I got there he looked at me and told me what do you want me to do for you I don’t treat that… I came out of this facility crying because he humiliated me. Please look elsewhere there are better doctors I promise!!! He still charged me and my insurance by the way even though he did nothing but the fact that I took his «time»

Very good doctor. His office is like a home and he greets you when you come in. He also does the eye examination and then helps pick out your glasses, which I appreciated. I assume the doctor knows what is best for you, right? All in all, a very good experience. I would recommend him and his staff.

Dr. Kales is awesome. I have been going to him for many years. He is a quiet and very polite man who takes his time in his evauations. He makes very sure his prescription is correct. He also can pick out GREAT frames. Very stylish and flattering.
Karen has been with him for many years also and is a doll to deal with. They can get you in quickly and have Saturday hours, too.
I would recommend this practice to anyone who is looking for a new eye doctor. Actually, I have… several times.

Recently decided to try Contacts. Went to a big box store where I was told it woudl be fast & easy. I had a terrible experience. A friend recommended Dr. Kaels and I was so happy I gave contacts another try. He is located in a darling little house on Arlington, simple easy parking and both Dr. Kales and his staff were so friendly & helpful. I kind of felt like I was in his home, not a stark office. My perscription & contacts are so incredible now I just love them. Dr. Kales always came out & greeted me and the other patients and escorted us into the exam room personally. We weren’t put into a room and made to wait for the Dr. to come. I saw a lot families there. It was just a very pleasurable experience
