Gotta love this place! I mean where else can you get steak, mashed potatoes and soup for 4.99?! I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve been here to eat lol. the service varies it could either be really fast or extremely slow but other than that the servers are very kind. Plus while you wait for your food you could always just play keno!

The food here is so-so. It’s cheap but you get what you pay for. The service at this restaurant is subpar. I felt like the waiter didn’t care so much about his job and it impacted his quality of service. If service is not a huge factor in deciding where to eat, this place is just acceptable.

Meh… You get what you pay for. You can’t expect decent dining from the cal neva. I’ve been here a few times before and always go for the steak. My most recent visit I came in after the ms Reno ink competition. After starving myself all day I was hungry and it was the closest place. We had to wait to be seated. There was nobody at the front. It was late so I see why we waited for so long, it was still frustrating. Our servers name was Justin. He was really polite and prompt. Our food came out quickly and as mentioned was just meh. I do really like the horseradish sauce. I doused my steak in it and the other sauce. I ordered a side of soup that was pretty tasty. My boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy. It seemed pretty small, but he eats a lot and it was only $ 5. Would I go out of my way to «dine» here again? No. Do I ever come to the Cal Neva? Heck no, but IF I am forced to go to the Cal Neva and IF I’m hungry, I would come back.

Yes, This is probably one of the cheapest meals I’ve ever had. BUT, like the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The BF and I decided to come here to try out the cheapest meal in town(sort of say) and It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t very good either. I originally ordered my prime rib rare and I actually got it medium, which I should’ve ate and assumed the cook was doing me a HUGE favor, but instead… I just had to have it rare and sent it back. BOY, did I hate myself. The meat was pretty hard to eat. It had this weird stench when you chewed it, almost like a formaldehyde type of thing going on(remembering this from OChem), after a few bites I just couldn’t stomach it anymore. Also the boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs, his steak was cooked medium rare and was more edible than mines, but still not very good. Overall. I don’t think I’ll be back to Top Deck, though they do have cheap meals, maybe we should’ve ordered something a bit safer to eat. I’m not saying don’t eat here, but be warned! haha

This restaurant is a really great. How else can you describe a place that gives you a platter of biscuits, gravy, eggs, and ham for $ 3.99? With good service too! For the price, you can’t do any better. The people are down home and friendly. Even the busboy stopped to wish me a Happy New Year. The staff was mostly older people but that didn’t slow them down at all. Those people know how to hustle. The waitress took my order quickly and they had my food out in about five minutes. The portions were very generous for the price. I got a platter filled with biscuits and gravy, ham, and scrambled eggs. The food was hearty and tasted good. I usually prefer my biscuits a little lighter and gravy a little runnier. Those are very minor critiques however. The food was quite good for the price. You can’t beat the service and the friendly attitude of the employees here. I didn’t feel like I was going into a cold corporate restaurant when I sat down. It felt more like I was visiting neighbors or some folks from your local church. They really are a friendly bunch. The kind I wouldn’t mind visiting again. Thanks Top Deck!

A good place to go to eat if you’ve lost all your winnngs and could not afford a buffet meal. Love their breakfast menu like cornbeef hash, biscuits & gravy, and pancakes. Establishment serves plenty that will fill you up. My only desire is that the place can somehow be more ventilated as casino smoke(cigarettes) outside the restaurant tends to make their way in.

We’re visiting from San Francisco and I didn’t feel like cooking tonight so I Unilocaled for a reasonably price place to eat for 8 people. The rating/price/photos looked like it was worth the ride from Truckee so off we went. I called in advance to ask if they took reservations and was told no. The garage/parking lot was just a little confusing. When we arrived, I was told the wait would be 30 – 45 mins AND we would be seated at multiple tables because we were a large party. That was acceptable. 4 of us ordered the prime rib, the 6 oz $ 5.99 special was ok in portion. The next two were ok but probably would have been a better deal to order 2 or 3 regulars. Everyone in our party was not swept off their feet with their choices. My husband ordered the king size prime rib which was $ 15.99 and asked for medium rare & got rare instead so he was not pleased. They took it off our check which is the reason why I even gave them a 2 star rating. I showed the host a picture of the popcorn shrimp in Unilocal and told him we must’ve gotten the offsprings of what was in the picture. He said it was because they changed vendors. I didn’t take a picture of what we got but the largest one is probably the size of your pinkie nail. I know it’s Casino food but after reading all the high ratings I expected more.

TD baby! TD!!! Top Deck has to have, by far, the world’s greatest $ 5.99 prime rib, and to be honest with you, it’s far better than many places I’ve had it for way more money. It just may be the world’s greatest bargain! Expect the ambiance to be bad and don’t you come on here and be a big fat whiner about it. Just go to the Top Deck to eat, eat well, and eat at a wonderful price! I hereby declare that every American city NEEDS a Top Deck!

This place has really good food, but they need to hire more employees. I think there were three people taking orders, and the wait was 30 – 40 minutes apparently because they didn’t have enough staff, and there were too many empty tables for the long wait. They were out of the famously advertised margarita, but the menu was huge!!! And the prices unbeatable(I was scared it wouldn’t taste good because it was so cheap) With at least 3 meals I wanted tonight, but I ordered the Garlic Chicken Mozzarella flat bread pizza, a side of fries and ranch. The food took about 30 minutes to come out but was really good… although my flatbread was really good it could have been the minced garlic and red onion flatbread pizza with how much was on there. With real meals for about 5.99, beer for 1.50, and the food being deelish, everyone that has an appetite should eat here. Our waiter Jessie was overwhelmed and service suffered for it. He took our order, brought the food out, and brought the check. We needed napkins and had to find them, and when he came and dropped the check off he said thank you without looking up and quickly walked away. I still had a lot of food and had to get up 8 minutes later to walk to where the food was coming out to ask for a to go box because we were on our own after the food came out. All in all I would come back because the food was great, and there are several things I want to try on the menu including their corned beef hash. Cheers to the cooks in the kitchen!!!

Prime rib is my favorite food. Top Deck charges $ 5.99 for a large piece of prime rib, a side, and a soup. Extra 50 cent charge for to-go. Can’t beat that– I ordered 5 to-go. I ate them all. They were delicious. No regrets.

We came in because on Unilocal this place has a 4star. I got the BBQ flat bread and it was drenched in mozzarella. Nothing special about the taste. My fiancé ordered a omelette and the bacon dry/hard. The popcorn chicken was burned and did NOt look like the picture on the entrance. Our friends got the NY steak and Country fried steak and they loved it.

The shrimp is really nasty. It’s so dry. The eggs were terrible. The soda was the best thing I had. Their napkins are really good too.

$ 5 steak and eggs?! Yes, please!(Oh, and don’t expect quality with $ 5, but it’s a good enough of a bargain and good enough of a dish for a repeat!) Note: My waitress asked me how I wanted my steak done. I said«rare.» Well, that cow came back as dead and well done as a dinosaur. The eggs over easy and taters were well done though. They also(surprisingly) have a wide huge selection for $(cheap).

Saw the big sign that shouted out $ 5.99 for prime rib meal from the main street of Reno. At first i was hesitant in trying to the place out because no prime rib is ever that cheap. After venturing out in the Cal Neva casino where the restaurant was in, I finally walked in. Walking it, it felt like a Denny’s kind of environment. It was pretty much filled up and as i was scrolling down the menu, the prices were dirt cheap. I told my friend… we were going to get an upset stomach after this but i can proudly say that it’s been a few days and i am okay. So how did the prime rib taste like? It was a little plain on its own, but with the A1 sauce provided… it was actually pretty good. French fries were mediocre. The popcorn shrimp was majority grease. The meal also comes with spicy sausage soup which probably was the best part of meal. It had a nice little kick to it to start the meal. Servers were friendly but sometimes customers could take a while to get noticed. I feel like this place is definitely for Reno participants who probably have lose some money in gambling during the trip. Overall a decent place for a quick grub but not a must die for location. 5.99 prime rib? can’t really complain much… A for effort.

Top Deck is the destination where gamblers from all of Reno congregate after the cards had not been in their favor the night prior. It’s the perfect breeding spot for the wraiths and banshees that grasp the machine handle every other minute in hopes of bathing themselves in riches and luxury. Literally nothing in the restaurant emanates happiness or hope. The minute I step in, I feel the presence of pity and regret exerting pressure on my skull. But, who cares? I’m here for the damn food. Anyways, the prime rib dinner is the perfect meal. For $ 5.99, I expected a half-ass slab of meat that the knives couldn’t even penetrate. I was extremely satisfied, especially for such a budget meal. Furthermore, I’ve tried the steak&eggs and besides the hash browns I ain’t complaining. My friends tried the 2 pound burrito and reported it to be dirty and unappealing after devouring 1 ¼’s of the burrito, but definitely worth the price. All in all, this restaurant is an excellent option to fill up on an empty stomach with a limited budget.

I’m still amazed by this place. So incredibly cheap and good. This round of a few visits in one trip, we ordered the country fried steak, the prime rib dinner, the southwestern turkey melt, the belgium waffle, and the garlic chicken flatbread pizza. The only item I don’t recommend is the prime rib, it came out cooked too rare and had an insane amount of fat on it. It was not appetizing. No wonder it’s so inexpensive. Oh, and I guess I’m not a fan of their Bud Lights anymore either. If I’m remembering right, it used to be $ 1 for a 24oz. Bud Light. But I could be wrong. However, I absolutely know it was a better deal last time I was here. Now it’s $ 1.50 for a 16oz. But everything else was so delicious. The garlic chicken pizza was super flavorful with tons of garlic, and very rich sauce and cheese. They didn’t even skimp on the chicken. The Belgium waffle was cooked perfect and tasted so sweet and delicious with the strawberries and whipped cream. It’s hard to mess up a waffle, yes, but it’s also hard to make it so much better than average on a budget as well. As for the turkey melt and country fried steak, we already knew those were good from the million other times we had ordered them before. I don’t think I could ever get sick of this place. They have such a large menu and the prices are so perfect for cheapos like me.

I’m giving his restaurant 2 stars for the food, however, it deserves 4 stars for the value! We came here while on a Tahoe trip and were lured in by the dinner special, $ 5.99 for prime rib dinner. The prime rib dinner came with two sides(option of salad or soup and mashed potatoes or fries). The prime rib(I ordered medium rare) was cooked correctly and was pretty tasty! The mashed potatoes came with equal parts potato and overly salty and thick gravy. The mashed potatoes were tasty without the gravy. Overall, I’d recommend coming here for the value if you are in Reno!

Not a good sign when the cooks are on the grill making sounds like they’re hawking up a loogy and then start laughing… My server was very polite like normal and the food is OK. I’ll probably never come back to eat here ever because I’ve watched the movie Waiting and can’t stop imagining what the cooks could be doing to the food we consume here. Preparing food for others is not a joke and should never be tampered with by any means. Very unprofessional… On to the next diner

It’s quantity, not quality here. Cheap meals, plenty of options on the menu, but the food is lackluster. Like another reviewer said, diner quality. Bf got the veal with spaghetti and I got the beef stroganoff and an orange juice. The oj was very diluted, not worth the $ 2.50 that it costs. The garlic toast on my bf’s spaghetti was the cheap kind, the spaghetti was okay, and the stroganoff was pretty good. Service was good. Although the good isn’t anything to write home about, it is inexpensive and you get what you pay for. So it isn’t a disappointment.

Came here around 10:30PM on 11⁄28. A trip to Reno is never complete if we don’t stop by to have their $ 5.99 prime rib. Who would have thought that a $ 5.99 prime rib could taste so good! I’m glad I found this place on Unilocal a few years back because my family loves their prime rib. I like the fact that they usually stay open 24 hours during major holidays. I think they also open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday nights, but don’t quote me on that. If you are ever in the area and craving prime rib, you should definitely stop by because it is worth every dollar. The price can’t be beat for the portion and quality. Blake, our server was also very attentive. Already looking forward to coming back…
