I dont know why anyone would ever leave the sands to eat at the strip casinos when this restaraunt is here… prompt seating, excellent service, and delicious food… after being super disapointed at one of the big casinos we walked back to the sands and were seated immediately. I had a delicious rib eye steak and my boyfriend had the combo plate with ribs steak and shrimp with dessert all for $ 45!!! Will be our go to place in the future

I recently graduated from my Masters’ program and wanted to celebrate with an excellent dinner at a location that I had yet to frequent. Having spent the past few months reading Chef JP’s weekly posts regarding his specials in the Reno Foodie Group on Facebook, my daughter and I decided that we just had to pay the Copa a visit inside the Sands. Great decision, what a night! I contacted Chef JP through Facebook regarding my celebratory occasion, and asked a few questions concerning the menu, as Kathy, my daughter, is an extremely picky eater. After a few IM’s back and forth, he suggested a customized menu which would suit the two of us perfectly, and he took down our reservation. The hostess, Brianna, alerted the Chef to our arrival and he appeared at our table in order to personally greet us, and congratulate me on my graduation. We began the meal with a bloody good Seafood Appetizer, which contained a few of Kathy’s favorites. This was followed by our special, off the menu entrees. Kathy had a Bacon Wrapped, Bleu Cheese Stuffed Filet Mignon surrounded by sautéed Prawns. She does not like bleu cheese. At all. Chef asked her if she would trust him, and he evidently put just the right amount of cheese in the Filet because she loved it! For myself he prepared a Country Fried Steak from a marinated 16 oz Cowboy cut Ribeye, which was incredible. The portion was enormous! Finally, Chef JP flew us to the tropics with his Flamingo Dreams dessert, which involves a coconut-battered-deep– fried pineapple slice, topped with fresh custard, fresh fruit pico, and a raspberry purée. We spent our last breath on a slice of the Chocolate Suicide Cake, which was delicious chocolate death. In a nutshell, the quality of food, the value, and service was nothing short of excellent. In conclusion, if you want to feel special and experience an outstanding meal, be Chef JP’s guest. He came to our table and discussed the different flavors and ingredients that came together in a very sophisticated and classy way. Our evening was so great that we made a return trip within the same month to celebrate New Years, and the second experience lost none of the luster or fun from the first.

We’ve gone to the Copa Bar & Grill for the last 4 years for New Years Eve, our party of 9 now was seat quickly. The waitress was a little slow to arrive, and the manager was clearly new, she showed us the table & bolted. The first thing we noticed was the restaurant was pretty empty at 6pm. The waitress came back and we ordered all of our food. She didn’t take any drink orders, she said would return for those. We asked for a side of veggies for my toddler nephew, and she said that they didn’t have any veggies as an option, although every year before it wasn’t a problem. The waitress sent the manager back about 5 or so mins later to get the drinks, and I asked her for veggies, which suddenly wasn’t a problem. Perfect, maybe the waitress is new & didn’t know. As our drinks and meals arrive, almost at the same time, the kids’ drinks were missing, we asked repeatedly for their milk which arrived after they finished eating. We were also missing my meal, which wasn’t ordered with everyone else’s…although the waitress said that someone else took my meal. We were sitting at the kitchen and of the 6 other tables, no one had what I had ordered… so probably not. My meal finally arrived after everyone was finished with their dinners and they were all starting on desert. I had ordered the filet mignon and lobster. I serioulsly doubt the slab of meat they are passing off as a filet mignon is actually that on the label when they buy it. Mine came a great medium rare, but the texture looked grainy and rough. I chewed it like gum and didn’t make much progress. My sister in law had the same cut, although hers came out burnt but grainy and chewy. They kept walking by apologizing about me not having my meal as everyone was eating. But at a normal restaurant I’d expect an update on time or someone to ask if I wanted bread or something in the mean time… but instead they just«So Sorry» as they walked past, but didn’t even stop. The«best» part of the meal was the desert. I’d avoid this place… it used to be great, but they need to make quite a few changes. Horrible customer service.

Love Copa! They are like family(kinda happens when you are a frequent flyer) Carrie and Bre are the absolute best and love me for my extensive special orders and JP the Chefs food has been exeptional the last few visits. Hell even the big boss Terry is great. Great honest service from all of the Copa staff. I swear I should have a signature dish there. Ooh and be a pain like me ask them to sauté your spinach with butter and add parm DELICIOUS!

Good food. Good service. Not pricy. I had a burger, wasn’t feeling like fancy because of the seafood buffet the day before. She had the surf and turf. Our friends had the ribs steak and shrimp and our other friend had a french onion soup and a wedge salad. Everyone finished all their food and liked it. The shrimp were tasty, my burger was perfect. The filet she said was a smidgeon overdone bit the lobster tail was very good. I was pleasantly surprised. Our servers were fast efficient and friendly. It’s inside the casino so all and all a good experience.

The Copy Bar & Grill at the Sands casino is the best restaurant there! I’m not being funny when I say this. As an eating establishment, The Copa is a good place at fair prices. Be prepared to pay about $ 10+ per head when you go. The service has always been good, regardless who I have as a server. This time, I had the pleasure of Shelby’s attention. She’s nice, bubbly and just down right fun. This time, I was with my dad and friends. My friends were already seated when I got there. As I was seated, Sheby came over and took our drink order. I ordered a Newcastle which was the daily cerveza special at $ 2.00. Great deal. By the time the drinks came, the live entertainment arrived and started playing out by the bar. Where I was seated, the music was just loud enough to hear without being overbearing. Wow! It almost felt like I was in a steakhouse! Speaking of steakhouse… A restaurant like this is best suited for their prime rib. Which, their end cuts are great! This time, I was healthy and had their Caesar. It was ample in size and the lettuce was fresh and crispy. I would recommend their prime rib over the salad any day! For most of the year, there is ample parking, both in their east facing and west facing lots. If parking structures are more to your liking, they offer a multi-level parking garage. Like all casinos, there is a decent small walk to the restaurant. Check online, the Sands sometimes offers discount coupons for the Copa! — — — — — — — — — — – Bottom Line This place a great for locals and out of town visitors. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s decent and if you score Shelby as your wait person, you will have a very nice dining experience!

We he lobster tails, steak, and shrimp scampi. Everything was delicious! And the ambience is lovely. Live music, I wish I would have gotten his name… he had such a beautiful voice. Most importantly, the service was great! Ivory was so attentive and took very great care of us.

Seated right away. Greeted by the wait person who if memory serves was named Ivory, she was great and an enjoyable personalty. The décor to me felt and looked cheap. Had a half off from the Reno Aces. The food, oy the food. Ordered the special of steak and lobster, I had the baked potato with mine as did my sister and Gus the twice baked potato. It was to come with seasonal veggies which consisted of one small florette of broccoli and two very small wilted cherry tomatoes. The broccoli was not lukewarm but refrigerator cold. The steak was room temperature as it was served and tasted nothing like a steak and a one bite size. The lobster was small as we expected and tasted ok that was a two bite size. Unfortunately the potato was the star of the plate, tasting like a potato. Well except for Gus’ twice baked. I think it must have been twelve times baked as it was hard and dried out, much like the steaks. As I said we had a half off coupon, with out that this disaster of a meal would have been 90 some bucks, with it about 45 bucks. The chef, or manage or whomever decided to concoct and execute this meal should be ashamed. Truly God awful. But the waitress was GREAT.

After being surprisingly happy with our room at The Sands, we tried The Copa. The food is great and the service was fabulous. We sat at the bar and our bartender/waiter Jason was the best. So far we’ve eaten here twice this stay and we’ll be back.

Came here with a coupon for half off of the total dinner bill. Let me preface this by saying that I had never been to the Sands before. The area around it seemed a bit unsavory, so it was always low on the list of places to go. If I had known how good Copa was, I would have been there sooner! Me and my dining companion came here on a Friday night and were promptly seated. The dinner rolls to start off the meal were the right texture and the right sweetness level and the pound of prime rib that I devoured was seasoned and cooked just right. The bread pudding for dessert was outstanding and hit the spot as well! Add to that amazing service from Iris and this place, my friends, is a winner! When looking for a good meal in the downtown area, look no further than the Copa! You will not regret it!

The Copa bar and grill is located in the sands casino. This is a very nice restaurant, you can come in a tie or jeans and a polo. My wife and I decided to go here because we had a 50 percent the entire bill coupon from the aces. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, we were there ballon race weekend and I think people were already in town for the air races. We were seated right away and our server ivory took our drink orders right away. My wife ordered th prime rib and I ordered the copa cheeseburger. You have a choice of baked potato, fries, or cole slaw. I chose the potato. The burger I ordered medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. They use only fresh beef, nothing frozen. This was just your regular cheeseburger topped with red onions, tomato and lettuce. But the burger was far from regular, with cheddar cheese melted on top of the patty and everything on a brioche bun, it was www uite delicious. We will definitely be back and i will try there surf and turf.

Went there for the farmers market & decided to stop by for dinner. On a Thursday at 6pm with maybe 5 patrons, I was informed that there was a 15 min wait. Really?!? Once inside, the ambiance is tastefully decorated. An acoustic singer is playing live in one corner. Food was decent, but nothing impressive.

The Copa has gone through more than a few changes in the past few years. It had always been hit and miss. Lately though, it seems their new executive chef and team has taken the kitchen to the next level. I had their special, a bacon wrapped filet which alone was an amazing value at $ 20 for this size filet. It also came with 3 jumbo prawns in a scampi sauce. Delish. Add a twice baked tater and you’ll remember why you enjoy dining out versus going to the gym. Job well done!

Service was slow even though it wasn’t very crowded on a Saturday night with the hostess also being our waitress. My medium rare prime rib came out very dry and almost well done. My friend ordered the cheesesteak and it was fine but nothing memorable. Not sure what the hype is about this place except for the convenience factor if you’re staying at the hotel.

Oh! I just came to the town Reno for visiting the Lake Tahoe. As we stayed at the sands regency hotel, I get some coupons from the front desk. So we walk into the copas restaurant. The service is super great and makes me comfortable. The restaurant is very clean and elegant. I like the bread and the soup. And the entrees material are very fresh. The environment is very nice. The piano music in the room makes me relaxed. Suddenly I fall in love with this town, Reno. And I think sands regency is a very good hotel too. Omg what I had in Las Vegas cannot compare this wonderful evening I spent at Reno! Great price for dinner and hotel. Super high value and quality

Ivory is the best waitress ever. Carrie and John came out to say hello and it was a great experience. Highly recommended especially on Wednesdays for locals. Portions are unbelievable for the price and the food is presented beautifully. Get yourself down to the sands and enjoy this phenomenal hidden gem!

This was dinner last night. Was seated promptly and Cesar provided great service. Had the lobster tail /shrimp plate. Came with a perfectly cooked baked potato and some fresh vegetables seasoned well. Had a coupon as I was staying here so I splurged for the peach cobbler(made in house) it came warm with ice cream melting all over. Absolutely delicious. Will be back when I’m in town again.

Visiting from San Jose ca area for a friends birthday celebration. Staying at the sands regency and decided to come here for dinner. There were 5 of us and we got seated right away. Our waitress Ivory was beyond amazing! She was one of the best waitresses any of us have ever had. The steak and shrimp was AMAZING! And only $ 9.99! Didn’t expect such a great meal from such a crappy hotel. All of us agreed that it was probably the best shrimp we’ve ever had. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely come here again thanks to the amazing customer service and great food!
