Sad to have walked by this tapas restaurant this week to see that it has closed. Suite 103 closed as well. What’s happening to the unique restaurants closing? Luckily, I redeemed my Living Social offer before the establishment closed. Good luck to the owner and employees.

Not sure there’s more I can add to the reviews giving this place as many stars as Unilocal allows, but I’ll try to come up with something clever. We’d been by this place a handful of times, always talking about how«someday» we should try this restaurant. I could kick myself for waiting so long. It. Was. Remarkable. With each dish, we became more impressed. First, their gluten free options are abundant. So they really had me at hello there. We started with hubby’s bleu cheese salad and my roasted Brussels Sprouts with a balsamic and brown sugar reduction. Don’t say«eew». These aren’t your grandma’s Brussels sprouts. We moved on to the paella. I’m a total spice weenie, so we had it prepared mild. Ohmahgawd! We couldn’t stop. We had to have the prosciutto wrapped scallops. I swear I had a When Harry Met Sally deli moment.(Privately). I begged my dearest to stop ordering food because I was so full, but he was unstoppable. We finished this gorge fest with the Spanish hot chocolate(strawberries for me, cinnamon churro a for him) and the date-fruit-thingy dessert. id be speechless if that were ever even possible for me. There wasn’t a dish we had tonight that didn’t blow us away. Our server, Kevin, was so friendly… he even shook our hands and thanked us for coming in. As did the owner(…I think) and the bartender. We will be back. Again and again. Given the menu variety, we’ve got at least 5 or more visits before we start the menu all over again. Wow. Seriously.

Prince once posed the question, «What does it sound like when doves cry…» I’ll tell you what it sounds like. Basque chorizo. I love tapas the way Giada DeLaurentis loves whitening strips and Fuegos made that love even stronger. I now want Fuego every day. We decided to spend our 21st anniversary at Fuego. It’s always a little dangerous spending an important anniversary at a new place, but Fuego didn’t disappoint. They made our bond just that much tighter. Everything about Fuego is enticing; the smells, the view, the service… I rarely remember someone’s name unless I’ve met them at least 11 times and possibly been roommates at one point – but we were served by the most effervescent server I’ve ever met. A dead ringer for Amy Sedaris with a bubbly personality to boot. She made great suggestions which took me straight to my happy place. Thank you, Jenni! You made our night! I really hope your name is Jenni. I might have to check with the wife on that one. We showed up on ladies night/happy hour so my wife ordered the white sangria and got a second for free! Gratis! I took many sips and it was… Really satisfying. Like I won’t be drinking beers there again… I want white sangria. I want all the sangria. Because we showed up during happy hour we got a complimentary order of Fuego chips. Fuego chips are addicting little bites. I’m gonna warn you now – these bites are a class 4 narcotic and will leave you jonesing for days after… You’ll sit up late at night, rocking yourself in a dark corner – desperate for some Fuego chips. Looking around your house for things you can sell easily – wondering what relatives might loan you a little scratch to get you by. Just counting the minutes till you can score another order of Fuego chips. Fuego chips dull the pain and light up those pleasure centers… And brothers and sisters… There ain’t a twelve step program for Fuego chips. Anywho, I just really love me some Fuego chips. The only complaint I can make are the Gorgonzola stuffed dates. They were a really weird texture – a little too sweet and maybe refrigerated at too low a temp. The Wife and I ended up making a game out of eating them. Meaning, I have to eat them so she won’t have to. They never really grew on me. Other than that it was just an amazing first visit. I want to do the entire thing over again. Even the dates. Even misjudging the curb height when I walked in and tripped almost breaking my face on Fuegos’ front door. All of it. Jenni what nights do you work?

I love tapas and wanted to get out of the casinos and try a local restaurant. The atmosphere was casual but sophisticated. The waitstaff very friendly and attentive. The food was just mediocre. Their paella tasted nothing like paella, more like just yellow colored rice. The shrimp scampi was a bit bland, too much cream and not enough garlic. The potato dish was pretty underwhelming as well.

Casual earthy feeling restaurant with great service! The greeters and our waitress were warm, extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. We started out with a glass of the recommended house red, it was very good! For the price it had a surprising rich-complex body and the tannin levels weren’t over powering. I shared the fruit and cheese platter with my friend. It was a little smaller than I had anticipated, but it had a good selection of fruit and the cheeses were good quality. My main course was a bowl of their Gazpacho and this was delicious! In my opinion, as good as Gazpacho gets: super fresh, well seasoned, not to salty. I topped it off with a bread pudding dessert that was very different in flavor profile than I expected(bread pudding was heavily seasoned with aromatics: cinnamon and nutmeg), but was very tasty and was generously covered with fresh fruit, whip cream, and chocolate drizzle. Lastly, I like their idea of ordering a lot of small dishes and sharing it with your table and the fact they had several vegan/vegartarian options for me :)

Fuego was fantastic. We came on a Tuesday night and it was very slow and mellow inside which was great and added to the calm and soothing environment. Our server greeted us and she was really friendly and knew a lot about the wine list(BONUS!!!). She explained the menu to us and let us have a few minutes to chill and look over our choices. Oh man! Fuego has such an awesome variety of yummies to choose from. We settled on the meatballs, the asparagus straws, gazpacho and brussell sprouts. All of it was fantastic. I really wanted to try the lobster puffs but wasn’t able to. I will definitely order these the next time I am here. I can’t wait to come back here again. Keep up the great work Fuego!!!

I love sharing my favorite places with friends. She let me order for us since it’s one of my favorite spots. I take that responsibility serious because I wanted her to sample the reasons I love this place. We started off with the medium paella fuego style, asparagus straws, lobster puffs, filet mignon skewers del fuego, and prociutto wrapped scallops. What I love about tapas is being able to share. This was the perfect amount of food for the two of us to share and have enough room left for dessert. The paella was nicely spiced but not overly so, it had a fantastic flavor to it. The asparagus straws were still nice and crisp. The dipping sauce that comes with them has a nice zesty flavor to add some spice to the asparagus. The lobster puffs… I dream of these things. They are my favorite item on the menu. The creamy but slightly spicy flavor really make them stand out. The crisp of the flatbread adds the perfect crunch. The filet mignon skewers were perfectly cooked and plenty delicious. Last but not least were those scallops. You could put prosciutto on anything and I will love it! For dessert, we shared the Spanish hot chocolate & churros. This is a traditional spanish hot chocolate with cinnamon sugared churros for dipping. I love being able to eat with my hands and this dessert is perfect for it. Honestly, I could drink that spanish hot chocolate and be a happy camper but combining it with a churro is pure genius. There are plenty to share! Its rare that I share a dessert but I was feeling generous and nice. You won’t see that happen very often when it comes to desserts! Believe me, I could have finished those all off on my own! Overall, the service was prompt and the waitress was very friendly. The food was delicious, as always. I will definitely be returning again soon!

We enjoyed a dinner here and shared several dishes. The service was excellent, and the flavors of the food were great. We had the artichoke, two salads, the stuffed mushrooms, the scallops, and the marinated beef strips. All were excellent. We will bring friends and family next time and sample our way through the entire menu! The owner stopped by the table, which was a nice touch. Even though there was a large party near us, we did not feel it was noisy. The acoustics are great. Just a great choice for dinner in Reno.

My wife is vegan and this menu has a great selection of vegan options. Service was superb at every level(host, bartender, server — and owner/manager, who was kind enough to stop by twice; charming and very informative). Everything exceeded expectations — for starters we had a great gazpacho and a very nice, light, flavorful kale salad, and for tapas: potatoes(with tomato sauce), Brussels sprouts(delicious), black eyed peas with spicy tomato base, and ridiculously delicious tapenade stuffed mushrooms. Nice atmosphere, a fine classical guitarist providing music at the perfect volume(never overpowering yet clearly audible). A delightful evening. Highly recommended!

Fuego means HOT. I love this place, however, it’s not hot… its warm… really, really warm. My wife and I have this place… we rate every restaurant by what we feel is the amount of love that they have in their kitchen. They don’t have love, however they really, really, really like their patrons. Their food is good… really good. Their treatment of Asparagus and Brussel Spouts was awesome. The fact that they served sourdough french bread totally sucked. I want doughy thick bread to go with my meal… other than that, this place rocks. We’ll be back.

Tapas are awesome! Love the idea of sharing food so you can try more dishes! Delicious high quality food with a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy a meal with friends. It was so good we ate here twice in one day! Would recommend the gazpacho, artichokes, albondigas, tapenade and house made bread. We also enjoyed the red sangria and Malbec wine. A meal isn’t complete without dessert, loved the flan and berries with bread pudding. Atmosphere was also lovely with large wood grain bar small couples tables.

This place lives up to their name because the food is fire! Great fresh choices and good size tequila selection. It’s a perfect place to grab a few bites and a couple drinks then head downtown or to a movie. Definitely try the scallops, unless you’re on a budget because they are one of the more expensive items. Otherwise you can get a number of different dishes for a reasonable price. To maximize your experience, go with friends or a date and order multiple items so you can sample a bit of everything. There wasn’t anything I tried I didn’t like though. The atmosphere is nice with light music and medium lighting. I sat at the bar with a friend but there is plenty of seating and it didn’t look like a reservation was needed(even on a Saturday night). The service was a bit slow but I chalk that up to a fairly busy night. Overall the servers and bartender were very accommodating, though the bartender seemed a little light on her knowledge of the very tequila behind her. I will be back, probably multiple times.

Such a fun date place! We always get 2 sangrias, 4 tapas, and a hot coco with churros. The bill is usual around 45 $. They atmosphere is fun and lively. The staff is friendly and respectful. And usually the manager or owner will come to the table to make sure everything is perfect. Now about the tapas… The lobster puffs are to die for! The cheese plate is filled with fun Spanish cheeses. The meatballs are in a lovely sauce.

I so wanted to love this place because tapas are kinda my thing, we even served tapas at our wedding, but alas it was not to be… Let me start by saying the bartender was so rude I literally bit my tongue, but I did not let that influence my review. After a short wait on a busy Friday night, we were seated in the middle of the room. The nice waitress that helped us in the bar after my bad first experience with the grumpy bartender ended up being moved into our section to be our server. It helped save our evening because she was really great(Jennifer I believe). The food, was super ordinary. The antipasti plate was good but served with bread that really over powers the finely sliced meat and cheese. Bummer because I loves me some meat and cheese! The stuffed peppers were good but lacking on the balsamic. The filet skewer was a favorite but small, really more like beef nuggets. We had chorizo, potato croquettes, and the scallops, but nothing really stood out. I hate to say it all pretty much tasted the same. I did like the wine selection which was very heavy on Spanish varietals. I would probably eat here again, with just my girlfriends, for an early snack and a bottle of wine, before we headed out for dinner somewhere else.

I was so excited to find Fuego when I moved to Reno because I’ve studied abroad in Spain(Sevilla!) and am absolutely in love with Spanish food and they way that they do meals– Tapas style! I first went to Fuego with a girlfriend of mine and we decided we wanted to have a «good good»(Pitbull anyone?) night– so we got a pitcher of red Sangria for both of us to share. Word to the wise– do not get the pitcher for 2 people unless you are a) very good at handling your alcohol or B) looking to get white girl wasted. The red Sangria was AWESOME and we loved our first 2 glasses of it.(After that finishing the pitcher became a bit of a chore– you could say our eyes were bigger than our stomachs.) Because of this, the night got a bit foggy but I do know we ordered the croquetas and the asparagus. I forget what else we ordered.(Don’t worry– we weren’t that drunk– it was just 6 months ago and I wasn’t into Unilocaling then.) I remember being a bit disappointed in the croquetas because my Host Mom in Spain made them much differently, but they were still good at Fuego. Fast forward to last weekend when my boyfriend and I went out on our first date in awhile– we had gone through lists and lists of restaurants downtown that we might want to eat at and each was met with a «no, not tonight» from one of us. Finally, he suggested Fuego and it was just exactly what we wanted! We started with drinks for both of us– I got the white sangria this time(just a glass this time too!) and LOVED it way more than the red, even though I enjoyed that too. He got started with a nice glass of Spanish red wine. We decided to share a meat and cheese plate because we loved jamon from spain and also wanted to try their tortilla. I was a bit surprised at the tortilla because they served it warm– normally in Spain it is served cold. I’m honestly not sure if they just don’t know this or if Americans like it warm better. Remind me to ask them the next time I go! We liked the meats and the cheeses– the chorizo was incredible. We got the shrimp next and although we weren’t blown away by it we did enjoy it and it was filling. By this point we were pretty much full(the meat plate is pretty big for 2 people) but we wanted dessert and dessert drinks. We ordered the fruit and almond crème dessert and he got another glass of wine and I got the 43 + milk drink. I was impressed with the almond crème but the dessert is a little small– we killed it in less than 3 minutes. Overall, I enjoy this place quite a bit and look forward to having a taste of Spain in Reno.

What a great find in Reno! We’ve been here for over a year now(moved from the southeast) and had yet to try this restaurant. We love tapas but have always tried Mediterranean and not Spanish… what were we thinking? Marvelous! First the atmosphere– I would describe it as intimate and romantic. The kind of place you can go and have long conversations over a glass of wine and escape the stress of everyday. Dark color scheme, Spanish background music, and a long beautiful bar makes this place great place to spend a Friday night. Service– Wish we would have remembered her name because she was wonderful. Because it was Halloween they were slow and sent the rest of the servers home. You know what happens… they became busy. She handled it all like a pro! She was great at suggesting dishes for us, and everything came out beautiful and perfectly timed. The Food– Melt in your mouth! We started with the Spanish cheese plate garnished with kiwi and berries. I’m not gonna lie I love cheese and can be pretty picky… but every selection for the plate was perfect! Next we shared the lobster puffs, pork tenderloins, stuffed dates, and the stuffed mushrooms with an olive tapenade. Perfect way to have a date night and sample the cuisine by sharing plates. All of the food was prepared to perfection! The lobster puffs were spicy so if you do not like the heat… ask for them to leave the cayenne off the dish. Great place to unwind and have a beautiful dinner in Reno. In my husband’s words… I think this could be our new favorite place!

Just updating my review on my second great experience going here. I got to try the meatballs and gazpacho this time which were both AMAZING! I am a huge fan of the meatballs which they use corn chips to bind together! If you come here make sure to try the meatballs and the brussel sprouts both are great and a win for me! Great staff! They are very attentive and are willing to work with allergies! Can’t wait till I am back in Reno and can go back. Wish they were open Sunday’s we would have went once more!

I am mixed about Fuego. We have been here a number of times over the years and I very much enjoy it, but it is not WOW! for me. I am a fan and I will continue to come back. Pluses: + Atmosphere — comfortable small tables to encourage sharing both food and conversation, live music, and tasteful decorations + Service — staff are always friendly and are knowledgable about the items. + Location — For us it is great as we can walk. Also Close to Pioneer Center for a bite either before or after the show. It is walking distance from the downtown casino/hotel corridor + Food — It is something different in Reno. My favorite items: Asparagus straws, Lobster puffs, Chorizo and my husband really liked the scallops + Love the Sangria! Minuses: — when it is busy it can get very loud. — the food is a mild disappointment, not bad just not WOW. The Croquettes sound better than they are, and the meatballs are ho hum. — Parking is an issue for some people — there is very limited parking in front, otherwise you will have to walk from the big lot across the street. The«Three Tapas on One Plate» is the way we usually go and then share. With an order of two plates, drinks and generous tip, our total bill was around $ 80. I would recommend it for an evening out with friends, or a little date night with your significant other.

We tried Fuego on the dine the district food walk several times. Tonight we wanted to take the time to look at their menu and choose what we thought would be good My husband described what he wanted in a white wine and the waitress selected one for him. She should have brought him a small pour to sample instead of a entire glass. He wasn’t exactly thrilled with it but she did offer to get him a different wine. I enjoyed the Malbec 22. On the food walk in May we had tried the sangria neither of us were pleased with it at all They do have two full pages of tapas plates. First up where the fillet mignon Skewers. The flavor of the beef was great and so tender you could pull it apart with your fork trying to get it off the skewer. Scallops wrapped in prosciutto was our next plate. The scallops were good in size but could’ve been a little warmer through and through. The third plate where the lobster puffs. They were a little disappointing the spice was so overwhelming you couldn’t taste any lobster in the mixture. They were just spicy hot and the more you ate your pallet couldn’t taste anything else. We finished with a small plate of stuffed dates. They were yummy soft dates with a little piece of blue cheese and almonds they were delicious The server was nice offering different suggestions for wine and the plates. She was there when you needed a refill. compared to other places I’ve had tapas style food at — I’m just not sure this is the place I would go back to I’ll just keep it on the food walk Service was good. Food temp Luke warm

My little, a buddy and I came in here to get a pre-show bite with only about 30 minutes. The stafff understood our schedule, got us to the bar and had us drinks and menus in seconds. Then, with the help of the staff, we ordered puffed lobster, spanish meatballs and caviche. The Caviche was very authentic to Southern California(it aint Moma’s down in Cabo). Nice texture and plenty of flavor. The meatballs were fantastic. Fantastic texture and sauce with a great kick of heat a the end. Then the lobster puffs. You cannot let another day pass without eating these things. Crazy delicious and unique. The lobster is so flavorful and light yet when you add lemon(as suggested by the staff), it takes it to another level. I’m going back and I’ll def have the lobster again.
