I am returning to sailing/racing after a 15 year break, and found this club on Unilocal. What a wonderful group of people! Rick took us out for Wed Beer Can racing and we did a 2 hour course in the bay. We had 8 people on the boat, over half were new to the club, and everyone got along great. Club is all ages and backgrounds, singles, couples and families. We returned during a beautiful sunset, had drinks on the patio, then a communal dinner of burgers, salads and stuff in the dining room. I’ll definitely be back.

Awesome laid back with a fabulous youth sailing program! Wednesday nights are wonderful; very welcoming for all; and the social cruise out’s are constant and inventive.

I ventured out on the Sequoia Yacht Club hosted«Laser Sailing Day» and had a blast! Everyone is very friendly, easy to sail with and nice enough to pull you out of the water by your thumbs if you fall in. Excellent! We had a few sailors go for an evening swim in the marina. It was fun and a great time. Excellent club. Well worth the 5 stars.

My first experience at the SYC was this past weekend(5÷19÷12) where I was invited to their South Bay Opening Day celebration through a friend. Driving up to the marina you notice how nice buildings and the grounds are. They had some grills going with hot dogs and burgers along with a banjo band. All the people there were very nice, friendly and quite interesting. You can tell it’s a professionally run organization that balances both safety and fun through an easy going nature. I left that experience wanting to come back the next time the sailing bug hit me.

Nestled deep in the Redwood City estuary labyrinth is the Sequoia Yacht Club in a modest wood frame building. It’s décor is dark rustic and a bit dated. I’ve been there many times for regattas, but only ate there once and it was a do it yourself BBQ. I think SeqYC has the right idea with the big barbeque pit and communal do it yourself cooking. Afterall, if you screw up the steak, who can you blame?
