Sandwiches were good. This is a small little shop with no seating but the portions are a good size.

This is literally a hole in the wall restaurant located in Reedwood City along Middlefield. There is not too much around here for lunch options but did manage to find this spot and can say it is one of the best tortas in the bay so far. For all u Unilocalers that don’t speak spanish, not to worry they speak english too. The menu is in spanish. I recommend a traditional Cubano torta or La Eva con asada(grilled steak). Ask for extra peppers! Yumm.

The best tortas in the Bay Area. Everything in the menu is super tasty and extremely well served. If you like a torta with everything, be sure to ask for a Cubana aka La Nirurka and be prepared to be totally full!

This is a group review. It’s not super detailed but rather just a few key notes that most of us agreed on. — Very small location, fits maybe 8 people –No beer served here –you had a choice of 3 different meats for tacos, they were all good. The chorizo was very moist. –Try your tacos with their aioli sauce! –No restrooms

This is the best place for tortas in the Bay Area. The Eva never fails to satisfy. The bread is crispy just the way I like it. The Niurka is fairly good as well.

Seriously, wow. These tortas have set a new bar of torta goodness. The chipotle sauce is spicy enough to make your lips burn but delicious enough for you not to care. «La niurca» has thigh, ham, avocado, jalapeños, beans, quest fresco, mozzarella cheese, milanesa and chorizo! I can’t recommend this place enough. The seating is super small but who cares when the foods this good

Best tortas ever. We came in like at 8 and he totally made me a fresh torta. I got la sofia which has chicken breast. It’s so good. They even put jalapeños inside. It’s exactly what I needed. I’ll definitely come back and try something else

Tortas as big as yo head. Not for the faint of stomach. Good, juicy, tastey tortas. Every vegan’s nightmare, every carnivore’s wet dream. I always get La Cubana — jamon, milanesa, salchicha, jalapenos and a bunch of other yumminess. Things that might scare people off — it’s very small inside, loud music, in Lil Mex, $ 10 –but those people should stay away anyways

First of all I am not Mexican but for sure I can appreciate good Mexican food and these Tortas were nothing to brag about, the gentlemen misjudge us by giving us whatever he wanted, we ordered a Milanesa and a Costilla one and he turned around and gave us 2 carne asada one’s which we rejected immediately and gave us 1 Milanesa and another carne asada which at this point I didn’t want to argue about it… enough said… for this trash Mexican hole in the wall… Les doy 2 estrellas una por puercos y la otra por si la pierden.

My boy Nate brought me here for their famous Cubano sandwich. Their version of the sandwich is much different than the authentic type. It’s a Mexican Version which consists of: Bacon, ham, chicken, steak, and more. The bread is pocket-type which holds a lot of these ingredients/toppings. I honestly loved this Cubano sandwich. This will fill a person up in no time! It’s filling, full of flavors, portion is huge and price is just right with about $ 10-$ 11. I’d definitely come back for more! The real version of the Cubano sandwich is much slimmer with less toppings but more flavorful which id rather have more but this version is good and worth trying!

Best torta place! Its a tiny place with only about 8 seats inside, definitely best ordered to go. The style is that of DF, so the names, the spanish rock, and chilango humor all takes me back to visiting DF, definitely feels authentic. You even pay after you get your food like in Mex. You get more than you pay. cash only. Highly recommend it.

Delicious torta here this weekend… We tried the torta de Milanesa and it was great(and big enough to share). My only complaint was that it was a little dry. I wish it had some sort of yummy sauce or salsa on it – then it would have been perfect. Also– we had to specifically ask for jalapeños, which were an absolute must for that sandwich.

I ordered the carne asada torta. And it was a decent size for around $ 9, i can eat this by myself at one sitting(although for sure I’ll be stuffed for the next five hours or so). The bigger torta option(just one specific kind) costs around $ 13/14, and this one is definitely two meals. Anywho, the torta had this spicy mayo sauce which had a nice kick to it and the torta overall was tasty, like a 7⁄8 out of a 10. The reason I give it 3 stars, well I would really give it 3.5 stars if possible, is because they are so SO unsanitary in their food handling! The same worker who handles cashier duties(touches money and all kinds of other stuff) makes your tortas. I literally saw the worker receive customer’s cash, give change back, pack up the food in bag, touch some random stuff on the counter, go to the cook area(which is in full view from the waiting area) and with the same bare hands start making the tortas. worker didnt use thongs or something to pick up the ingredients to put in the tortas but picked them up with his bare hands and placed them in the tortas. Then the worker just kept on repeating the process over and over and over again… I gave him a disgusted look and he at least had the decency to rinse his hands at one point with just water(probably cold water too) for like two seconds and then wipe them dry on this dirty rag used to wipe down the counters and other nasty stuff… Yeah, I still ate my torta, and i’m not gonna lie i enjoyed it too, because it could be worse I’m sure, and I don’t think his unsanitary ways could kill me. But, still… I don’t expect much in terms of sanitation from a hole in the wall torta place in the middle of… um. not such a fancy area…, but just thought it’s worth noting. Ok. Hope you enjoy the torta! :)

Got a tesorito torta here after going to house of humor for my costume and it was really frickin good. I hadn’t eaten all day and had to drive to the city so I just got it to go. The smell was so good and got to me so badly that I ate it in the car, while being stuck in the usual city traffic! Good thing about this place is that it doesn’t take a lot to run and is simplistic. I liked the service, the people, the food and the off-couture décor that you would expect from a mexican place. Definitely a must-try. Plus point: Ask for the red dipping sauce(wasn’t salsa) with the torta.

Place is very small. which I don’t mind at all. But I was really hopping that the tortas(aka sandwiches) were awesome. But they’re not :( They’re just OK, not impressed. The flavor factor is not up there. Would I go back… yeah. maybe

**3.5 Stars** La Casita Chilanga is a literal hut of a restaurant. With only three small tables and nestled along an industrialized section of Middlefield Road in Redwood City, the unassuming structure adorned with the colors of the Mexican flag(green, white, and red) is an homage to a comfort food straight from Mexico City: the torta. For those unfamiliar, the torta is an impressively-sized sandwich served with an array of delicious ingredients. The roundish french roll is toasted on a press, similar to a Cuban sandwich, and served hot with a grilled selection of meats and vegetables. One of the most popular versions here is the traditional cuban sandwich, nicknamed«La Niurka,» on the menu after a popular attractive actress from Mexico City. It literally has a kitchen sink of ingredients: leg, smoked ham, breaded veal cutlet, pork, cheese, and turkey sausage. Toppings of avocado, tomato, onions, some jalapeño peppers for kick, and a nice spicy chili mayo round out the sandwich. At $ 9.50, the price may sound high, but the portion size is enough for two meals. On any given day, it’s easy to be the only non-Spanish speaking customer here, so it’s clear the place is authentic. The San Francisco Chronicle named Casita Chilanga a notable Bargain Bite of the Bay Area and if you enjoy your meals hearty, like soccer(playing continuously on the small tv in the hut), or simply enjoy trying new cuisine, La Casita Chilanga is definitely worth a stop.
