Was surprised to find this quaint brewery in a strip mall off of Marsh Road! It’s on the small side, with a couple TVs for watching sports and such. The craft beers seem pretty popular(sorry, I don’t drink so I can’t say much about their brews — but hubby had the Red IPA which he said tasted fine yet the«hoppiness» caused him some minor discomfort later). The BBQ smells and tastes wonderful! I sampled other people’s platters while enjoying a Classic Freewheel Cheeseburger with extra crispy fries. My homemade version is still better, but theirs was on the grill giving it that unique flame-charred flavor that I can’t get at home. A band happened to be set up the evening we were there, and this made for a memorable birthday party for a long-time friend(long as in 30+ years). Hard to believe we’re getting so old! But back to the review — if you can put up with the long lines to order food and drinks(they should have separate systems), it’s a nice, unexpected local hang-out.

Everything is great! I’ve had all of the beers, and when they introduce a new one to the menu I’m on it. If you’re not sure what beer to have, get the beer sampler! I’ve had all of the heartier fare and my favorite is the cheeseburger. My coworkers and I hit them up at least twice a month and it’s usually on «Taco Tuesdays». The fish tacos they serve might be a tad spicy for the average person but they are freakin’ epic! If there is a down side, it would be the amount of room they have inside. Once in a while it gets pretty packed inside so you might have to wait for a table, but I’m pretty sure that’s a good sign. Get in here and make Andrea choose a beer for you! Cheers!

Solid selection of house brewed cask beers. The food is solid but not inspired. Nice atmosphere and they have one giant table if you come with a group. Great spot for some after work suds or a quick dinner with the family.

Had lunch there the other day-What a local gem. Wonderful fresh cask beers, and the burger-well let’s just say it was wonderful. Cooked perfect served up with great fries. The beer, again, was just awesome. Thank you for this great local brewpub!

Came here with a friend for their 3rd year anniversary. She got the Anniversary Burger and I got the Sausage plate. They were both $ 14. The burger came with two patties, pulled pork, bacon, AND a fried egg(with a side of fries). The sausage plate came with two sausages, cole slaw, mash potatoes, and some toasted bread. Both were very delicious and we were satisfied with what we ate. If you check in through Unilocal, you get a pint of their real ales for $ 5 which is cool. I got the Big V amber ale, and it was really good. My friend got the raspberry and jalepeno IPA, which she wasn’t a huge fan of. It had too much of a jalepeno taste, but it did pair well with the burger. The beers here were good, and it seemed like they have live music on occasion.

Veg burger was pure baby food mush = ick! Fries were big and super dry = ick! Fish & chips, three tiny two bite pieces of bland fried fish and thick cut super dry fries = rip off & ick! Other than the food the place is pretty cool and they have live music, games and live comedy. Eat at the Mexican spot next door.

The British-style cask ales were delicious. Something for everyone. Devon, the barman, suggested starting with a 6 taster flight and it was a great idea. Devon was super friendly, as well as the brewer Malcolm. Cozy place. Decent food. Great beers. I’ll be back.

So glad they moved to town! One of the best parts of the revival of Marsh Manor shopping center, this place is starting to feel like Cheers to me. The younger crowd there probably wouldn’t even get the reference, but no matter, everyone is welcome. Either you like this style of beer English cask ale) or you don’t, but no one can say it isn’t flavorful. My personal preference is the stout, and I also appreciate being able to try new microbrews they bring in regularly. Truly a cozy and friendly gathering spot, a personal favorite for a local bite and brew.

Muy buen ambiente y muy buenas cervezas. Hay mismo se ve los tanques donde las hacen. General y Luckypuk fueron mis favoritas. También tienen comida para picar. Tienen musica en vivo, espero volver pronto

I am surprised to find hand pump beer in bay area! As you know most draft beer served on tap is frizzy, lots of bubble. But Ale shouldn’t serve as ice-cold and bubble infused! I am very glad I stumble upon this place. The beer are good, I really like the London one, the wheat flavor blast into your mouth as after-taste. We also had some food like fish and chips, typical decent bar food. You can also buy a growler and refill over there. I think I will do that next time!

So. Good! I was a little dubious — I’m not a huge beer girl, but the beers here are really good! When in doubt, grab the flight. You’ll get a good taste of what’s on tap, and if you really want more afterwards [which I didn’t — those tastings are generous!], you can order whatever you want. But the FOOD. Is it weird for a bar/brewery to have such good food? It shouldn’t be. But I’m not complaining! Their burger is so delicious. Their soups have been very consistent as well. And the pulled pork sandwich. Omg yum. Sometimes when traffic is crazy bad to get onto the Dumbarton, I just pull over here and hang out and wait out the traffic. Great spot!

Who has two thumbs and orders fish and chips(and a pretzel) for delivery from four miles away? This gal. The pretzel was a little tough but okay. The mustard must have been so hot that it melted the plastic cup it came in. The fish and chips came with tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon, no cole slaw or malted vinegar. The fish was a little soggy, and the fries were a little hard. I think that’s because of the transit time. Despite that, the fish tasted fresh, and the batter was good. I’ll give it a shot in person again, but definitely not a four mile delivery. That was definitely my mistake. Never again.

i came here as part of a group of 10 for drinks and late dinner on a thursday evening. when i called earlier in the day, i was told that things start to quiet down around 7pm, so i didn’t bother trying to reserve a table. unfortunately, when the first people arrived a little after 7, the place was packed and they had to wait a bit for a table of 10 to be available. fortunately, the staff were able to join a few tables together to allow the 10 of us to sit comfortably, right in the center of the restaurant! upon arrival, i quickly realized that this was not a full service restaurant, as you need to order at the counter, take a number, and wait for your number to be called before going to the pickup window to get your order. you also have to pick up your utensils on your own, conveniently located next to the pickup window. if you want water, you can help yourself on another wall, which is also next to the trash and recycling. and of course, when you’re all done, you’ll need to bus your own table, sort the items into recycling, compost, and trash and ensure that you don’t accidentally throw away your utensils! i ordered the fennel & pear salad which consisted of baby arugula with lemon fennel dressing, seasonal pears, toasted walnuts, blue cheese crumbles, and fennel poached in olive oil. i requested the dressing on the side and no cheese crumbles on my salad, which made it a pretty healthy salad. the arugula was very crisp and fresh, the fennel raw, yet tasty, the pears sweet and juicy(lucky for me, it was the start of peak pear growing season), and the walnuts crunchy and slightly smoky. i only dabbled a touch of dressing on my salad for taste, and i have to say that the lemon fennel and oil mixture blended nicely with the salad ingredients. pretty good for $ 7! in general, i think all of my friends enjoyed their food and drink, most of them ordering one beer and a burger with fries. a few of my friends ordered the pretzel which was timely since oktoberfest was just around the corner. the portions were quite generous and the kitchen staff also did a nice job with the presentation. overall, i feel the food and drink were solid, and the prices very fair. and i really appreciated that one of the staff came to our table to check on us and ensure that everything was what we expected.

Beer is good, as far as the food not so much. Could use an upgrade. Service was nice tho! I don’t think I will be coming here for food.

I first visited Freewheel last September when searching for breweries in my area. I found it interesting that Freewheel specializes in cask ales, and so off I went to try it. You order and pay at the counter(sometimes with the line snaking all the way back to the front door), seat yourself and your food will be brought to you when it’s ready. My first time there I believe I got a pulled pork sandwich and a flight of all their beers. I recently went back with another friend and we both got their special of chicken apple sausages with mash, coleslaw and bread. I also ordered a delicious Mind the Gap IPA. My friend ordered one of the guest taps they had that day. The sausages we had were so good! Also, whatever spread was on that bread was super good too — I tried to save it as my last item to eat but I couldn’t hold it. The chips I saw some people ordering looked so fresh… I really wanted an order of that but I will save it for next time. The pricing of their food is a bit on the high side… but I don’t want to drop a star just for that. The portions aren’t as big as I imagined for the price I’m paying, but at least the quality meets it. Service is fairly quick and very friendly. Remember to utilize your Unilocal check-in offer for a $ 5 pint of beer! Kudos to the compostable plates, especially in this time of drought. I can see the benefits of both compostable plates and reusable ones but it’s super cool to see a restaurant make some sort of step towards eco-friendly operations. Plenty of seating inside, more seating outside for if it’s a nice day or for when there’s a live band playing! It does get busy and loud — I went on a Friday with my friend and the place was populated with techies fresh off work. There’s some cool photography on the walls — although hung up with fishing wire and I’m scared for the frames haha(I used to hang art and I suggest looking into metal wire hanging systems if the fishing wire ever goes wrong!). Great place for a beer and quick dinner. Tucked away in a little shopping center in Redwood City. The other restaurants seemed pretty busy too! I look forward to visiting again and occasionally spotting Freewheel at various beer fests!

This place is actually A pretty good place to grab a couple of drinks and perhaps some lunchtime grub. Came here during lunch a couple of times and rocked a chicken sandwich as well as a burger and an IPA. The meal was pretty good on both occasions and the beer was decent, a tad on the warm side but decent… The service and overall location are great and they are extremely prompt. Overall, not a bad lunch spot. Pros– Beer options Location Service Food Price Cons– Parking Beer a tad warm

Great English style beers. I enjoyed the English IPA and the London Calling the most. Their food service was quick and the food was good. I got the chicken and strawberry salad special, minus the chicken to make it vegan. Sadly, I still had to pay for the(lack of) chicken which is always a bummer, but I ate the whole salad. It hit the spot. All the food is served on paper plates which I’m on the fence about. It’s great that they have compost, but still seems wasteful to throw out every dish. Then again, with CA’s water problems I guess not using a dishwasher is good?

A qualified 4 star rating based purely on a visit from Freewheel Brewing Company to my work campus where they offered a tasting of three different beers. I tried the«Mind the Gap IPA» and really liked it. It was slightly crispy with a citrusy after taste… and would pair well with just about anything. I favor stouts over ales but they ran out. From this first experience, I’ll definitely try out their restaurant and sample other beers… and update this sparse review.

Let’s hope the roach infestation clears up soon. Would it sway me back? probably not. I ordered food and a beer sampler upon my last visit. That’s when I made my way to the ladies room and saw the floor dotted with cockaroach traps; not one but I’d say a good handful of them all along the walls. It left me wanting to run right out of there. I carefully sifted through my food and wiped the rim of my glasses. I wish they would’ve taken care of their mess in a more discrete way. Definitely bad judgement from the management.

A nice bar close to the menlo park 101 exit Located right next to the taqueria, this bar is actually pretty decent, with trivia night and a good vibe. The food was pretty expensive, but not bad – the portions were a little small given the price($ 12 for fish and chips, with not a lot of fish), but in terms of food quality it was ok. The place has a wide selection of beer, so definitely come for the beer and not the food! The wait service arrangement was also pretty weird – you go up to the bar to order food, and then when the food is ready, they put the food at a separate window, but don’t really tell any of the patrons whose food is being put on the window. So for a lot of the food we ordered, the food was just sitting their on the window, until we got curious why the food was taking so long and double checked with the bar etc. Definitely need to get that process fixed if they want to keep people ordering food. In any case, the food quality was good. Overall the place is good for drinks, but probably not worth it for food.
