This place is great. Family run, mom and pop kind of place. Great service from people who actually learn about their customers. I went with my husband for lunch fairly regularly for a while, and after I had my baby, we didn’t go for a good long while. and yet when my husband did go back to pick up lunch for me(because you know, baby) the owner remembered him and even remember MY order. Stuff like that stays with you. Oh, and the food is consistently good. I generally get the spinach wrap. But my husband and I have tried a lot of the other food on the menu(particularly when I was pregnant with weird cravings), and we’ve never been disappointed.

If you’re ever in the Redwood Shores area, you need to check this place out. It’s family run and the owners are super friendly and treat you like family. They use fresh ingredients and make everything exactly how you like it. I particularly like the Tuna sandwich, and falafel sandwich. They have a salad and fruit bar that is really good too. Why support a chain restaurant when you can get fresh and home cooked meals from a place that treats you like family?

I was so happy to find this mom and pops place in RWS! My dad brought me here for lunch today. It’s a hidden gem to say the least located in an office neighborhood. For starters, it’s a corner spot with huge windows overlooking a lagoon(close to RWS dog park). Lots of seating too — outdoors and indoors. The couple that owns the place is super nice. The man allowed us to try today’s special(mortadella) since we hadn’t heard of it before. My dad and I both built our sandwiches and had them heated up! Yum! I also ordered a small regular coffee. When she saw me heading towards the coffee dispenser that was out she stopped me and told me her husband would make me a fresh one. Ahhh… freshly brewed black coffee. They gave me a large instead too! I was a happy camper to say the least. Best part is I got to use their Unilocal deal! Bought a $ 6 voucher to get $ 10 off. How can you go wrong? I really don’t care for any of the dining spots in RWS so I will definitely be coming back to Bay Leaf now that I know about it.

This is the perfect little neighborhood café and restaurant. Good enough variety of tasty food, and some unexpected food like falafel and baklava. It’s a perfect place to unwind after a walk around the neighborhoods of RWC. The owners are really friendly.

Family owned with genuine owners. Fred and Nahla are absolutely the nicest couple who try to cater to your needs. Nahla is usually at the register while Fred helps with the back of the house. The menu has almost everything… sandwiches, burgers, pizza, salad, soup, shwarma. you name it! Some of my favorites: the falafel sandwich(hot sauce on the side plz), chicken nuggets, BLT Avocado sandwiches, homemade soups and YUMMY breakfast sandwiches! The things i’d hold off of… clam chowder soup and sometimes the flavored lattes. I will say that I have yet to try EVERYTHING from the menu so I can’t comment, but if there is something wrong with your order, they will try to fix it. Be sure to subscribe to their weekly emails to see what’s on the menu!

Everything they offer is home-made — the eggs for the breakfast sandwiches are fried up right there, the potato salad is fresh, different soup every day, salad bar with plenty of options, and almost any other little snack you could think of. I found flavored bazooka bubble gum here — changed my life. Their coffee is awesome, they are QUICK, and I know people don’t really care about this type of stuff, but the owners are fantastic — if people were gems they’d be diamonds. They are so friendly, really want to make sure their customers are happy, and what really got me was one time when I ordered a bagel with bacon, and since I usually I get it with no bacon, I was charged the same price I usually was. It was bugging me, so I went back the next day and told them I owed them another dollar and they a) thanked me for my honesty b) offered me a coffee on the house and c) wouldn’t accept my dollar! For the quality of the food and service, especially with the huge range of options, this place offers the best meal within miles. It’s nice to watch dogs playing while you eat too =)

Considering the food options in Redwood Shores(e.g., Bayshore Technology Park, Oracle, EA, etc.) it isn’t so far, and definitely worth the trip to Radio Road! Great food stuffs of all sorts. Breakfast and Lunch. Vegetarian or Meat-lover. They are open till 4pm on weekdays, which is awesome considering most places close up at 2:30 around here. They were open on weekends when they first opened but may not be anymore. Good sandwiches! Salads, Soups, good selection of drinks. There is parking in front, 9 tables inside and about that many outside in the patio area. Great places to walk nearby, some nice deserts, ice cream, all sorts of goodies. Management/staff is friendly and helpful, kitchen is neat, everything well kept. You can call in an order and they will make it for you to pick-up. Wow I really enjoyed lunch at this place. They also have free WiFi so you can stay connected to work or do other WiFi things if you must, but really, it’s a great little area, may as well put the devices away and enjoy the area and good company. Cheers. I got a Pastrami sandwich on dutch crunch with their garlic spread and mustard, lettuce tomato, baklava for dessert. Jaritos Tamarindo to drink. Perfect. Not too expensive. The garlic spread wasn’t overly garlicy but just right amount of flavor, bread was toasted right, my mouth is watering again thinking about how yummy it was. Thank you, Bay Leaf Café! I’ll be back for sure, and will bring my coworkers from Redwood Shores too! Ask me what else they do? Sure, I chatted with them and read the menu of great choices. They ALSO do Burgers and Fries, Philly Cheese Steak, Coffee and Espresso drinks, everything!

My GF found this place by accident and suggested we try it out, and I’m very glad we did. It has parking, which is a big plus compared to some places, and a patio for outdoor eating — very peaceful. We had the garden burger and it was very good. Looks like they have a good salad bar. And the price was very good. We will definitely be back.

A great choice of foods and sweets and chips and drinks :) They have it all. The location is «a little out of the way». but the trip to this area is a must, if you don’t live locally. There is a dog park across the street and they have a patio, so you can enjoy some sun and ice cream or coffee there with your pooch. I sometimes go when I don’t feel like cooking, but still wish to have some home cooked food. The owners are very friendly and make you feel right at home! Parking is always available, because the café is by the office buildings which don’t seem to be in use. After a nice lunch or a snack, take a walk alongside of many trails in Redwood Shores. Your dog will make you want to come again, and again,…

This was such a nice surprise after I visited the dog park across the way for the first time! The owners are super sweet. I ordered a caramel latte and their falafel sandwich with the hot sauce. Great sandwich! I liked the pita bread they use and the fact they cut the falafels in slices so the sandwich stays flat and the pita bread holds the ingredients better. The hot sauce was a nice addition. They brought the caramel latte over to have me taste it to make sure it was what I wanted… just in case it needed more milk or more caramel. How nice is that? And it was the perfect coffee drink. Not too sweet. They use quality coffee that has a rich taste. I’ll definitely be back to try something from their breakfast menu. It’s too tempting to stop here after a nice walk with my dogs. It’s very clean. The menu has nice variety. The sitting area outside is protected and pleasant. On the way out the door she wanted to give me a dog cookie for the my dogs! There are so many good things about this place and the customer care is awesome.

I love this little café. Everyone here is smiling and so so generous. They have coupons for a free item on saturdays and they upgraded my white mocha to a double for free. My usual order is the falafel sandwich and I love the hot sauce they provide. The sliced cakes are a steal. The coffee is organic and fantastic. The bottled beverage selection is also huge. All of the ingredients in the salad bar look super fresh. Every time I call in, my order is hot and ready for me. My only concern is that the onion rings looked like the frozen variety and the baklava was store bought. No big but I would love it homemade :)

Five stars for the following: Really close to RWS dog park, very friendly people, tasty food, clean surroundings, and has a tv up high in a corner that’s nice for watching a game. I had a toasted vegetarian sandwich with their garlic sauce. The garlic sauce must be homemade. It was mellow and didn’t overpower the sandwich, but you knew it was there. Great quality!

My boyfriend and I are here now… we stopped after our run on the trail. The place is a bit tucked away… but it is definitely worth trying! A little jewel in a minefield. We ordered a turkey sandwich to share and it was PERFECT! The owners are really friendly and the place is immaculately clean. The new owners took over in May of ’09 so don’t pay attention to any previous reviews. We will definitely be back!

I used to live in an apartment across the street from this place. I never tried it until today though. I was actually quite impressed for being out of the way it’s actually pretty good food. Better than my work’s cafeteria. I had their special of the day which was a mexican lasagna served with rice and green beans. It was like a backyard bbq but at a restaurant. Could have really gone for some corn bread, but oh well. Also had a mango peach smoothie quite tasty and I think made from pulp so you get some bits of peach and mango in it. The staff is very friendly and seemed to know everyone as they entered and greeted them by name. Overall I think I will come back here some more. * Has a little patio with a gas grill outside too. Very nice setup. Too bad its hidden so far up RWS Pkwy.

A little known secret deli spot deep in the heart of Redwood Shores towards the water end of Redwood Shores Pkwy. Very tasty sandwiches served by a very friendly mom and pop type operation. You can choose from a number of Bay Leaf specialty sandwiches, request your own, choose from the daily hot item special, or make your own salad from the modest salad bar. The Rutherford sandwich on fresh dutch crunch was super with warm roast beef, pepperjack cheese, peppercinis, and pesto sauce(see picture). The place itself is a part of The Pointe at Redwood Shores office complex just off Redwood Shores Pkwy and Radio Rd and the usuals are the employees of the offices there. I think the place is only open for breakfast/lunch on weekdays from 8−3pm. There’s ample indoor seating and outdoor patio seating but not much of a view. They do catering too. Parking in the office complex parking lot is a bit sparse. Bottom line: Friendly deli for tasty sandwiches if you work/live deep around Redwood Shores and don’t want to go through stop sign hell(must be like 10stop signs) on Redwood Shores Pkwy to get to other lunch places closer to 101. Nice low key getaway for others if you don’t mind the stop signs.
