Gail Ellen Messler, MD – HealthCare Partners

This review is not for the doctor, but for the people that answer the phone for Dr. Messler. I called and tried to make an appointment for Dr. Messler two times and both times they left me on the phone hanging for more than 20 minutes. I thought the first time they just were busy so I called again in another 30 minutes. They left me on the phone again and said they would be right back. After waiting along time again I just hung up and located a new doctor. The new doctor is able to fit me due to my severe burn. I believe there are other doctors in this establishment and the receptionists are the same. People need be valued and respected. This certainly was not the case at HealthCare Partners. Good luck.

I thought about writing this all day long. Dr. Messler is the worse doctor I’ve ever experienced. I juggled questions in my head all day long today, why was she so rude? Why did I leave her office in tears? Why did she make me feel like I was just another number and not human? Was it the color of my skin? Did I look like an ignorant person? I still don’t understand what happen today, why my doctor would tell me «my 20 mins are up and that she can’t spend hours with me» as she is walked out the door, not Even a proper «have a nice day» or «do you have any other issues you would like to address». I wasn’t asking for hours I was just looking for my doctor to help with some medical issues and answer all my questions, if it took 30 mins so be it. I pay for medical insurance, i work my ass off and should never be shoved out the door because in her head she can only give me 20 mins of her time. Worse experience in my life.

I met Dr Messler for the first time today and normally doctors are very much in «doctor» mode and Dr Messler was very much professional but most very personable she was AWESOME it was a blessing to have met her and to have her as my now Doctor. Her staff was just as amazing as her. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, honest, and truthful Dr Messler is the person. THANK YOU…

I’m in the process of changing my primary doctor because I’m unsatisfied with my experience with Dr. Messler. I went in for a physical and was told that I only need a pap smear every three years «because I’m young and healthy so there’s no need to it every year.» That really put me off — cancer can develop and escalate exponentially in that amount of time regardless of how young or healthy I am. There are people much healthier than I am that end up with cancer.
Second, she treated me like a child the whole way through the exam. I’m 22 years old — not 6. I’d like to be spoken to like an adult.
Third, I’ve been having a recurring issue that I want addressed. She brushed it off with the typical diagnosis. I know what my condition feels like and that this issue is different, but she wouldn’t really listen.
I’m changing my doctor for all of these reasons. The only reason I had to switch to her in the first place was because Dr. Rahmani (who I adored) switched locations. I shouldn’t need to make an appointment but put it off because I don’t trust my doctor to not brush off an issue or treat me like a child.

Dr. Messler has been my PCP for 3 years and I have no complaints. She’s attentive, compassionate and helpful. She diagnosed my auto immune disease when no one else seemed to be able to figure out what it was. I will be staying with her as long as she practices.

I would not recommend anyone to Dr. Messler. My main intent in writing this review is to offer a word of caution to other’s who may be seeking her care. My mother saw her, and we are now in a spiral of other health-​related issues because of her diagnosis. We had to find a another doctor to treat my mother effectively. Similar to S.F.‘s comments, she’s exhibited strange behavior and not adept at communicating/​expressing herself, which seems integral to a doctor’s practice.
We are now under another doctor’s care, and it’s a polar opposite situation than what we experienced with Dr. Messler. Our new doctor is clear, articulate, empathetic, knowledgeable. I really do hope others don’t have to experience what we did.

I went to see Dr Messler last June when I was having stomach pains. She checked me over and recommended that I take medicine for heartburn. After we discussed that option I told her that I had a few other issues that I wanted to talk to her about. She told me that she didn’t have time and I should schedule another appointment. Two months later, I was still having stomach aches that seemed to be getting worse. I called Dr Messler and she told me to double up on the heartburn meds because she «didn’t know what else to do for me». I eventually went to the ER and had the problem taken care of immediately (I had gallstones and needed to have my gallbladder removed. Not related to heartburn at all). I decided that I would change doctors because of the poor care that I’d received from Dr. Messler. As I was looking for a new doc, I came across the previous review and decided to give Dr. Messler another try. I arrived for my appointment 10 minutes early but sat in the waiting room for 40 minutes before being called back. Another 10 minutes passed before Dr. Messler came in. Her care was better than last time and my issues were resolved but I wasn’t convinced to keep her as my PCP. It seemed like she felt as though she had somewhere better to be. My experience wasn’t horrible but I just feel like there’s someone that will actually care about my concerns and not brush them off.

I was extremely surprised by the customer service of the Healthcare Partners office staff, nurses and Dr. Messler. I chose Dr. Messler because she had next day availability, I had no idea who she was or what to expect. I went in with low expectations as with most doctors (so I don’t get false hopes), but was quickly amazed at how quick the office was (I waited a full 60 seconds in the waiting room before being called in), then it only took another 60 seconds or so when the nurse came to take my vitals, then another 60 seconds until D. Messler came in to visit me. She was very courteous, she explained everything in detail, she was patient, honest and forthcoming with her procedures and plan of action. I have never experienced such good service from a doctor. She even listened to what I had to say. Then, she gave me a clear plan of action to take care of my issues. She recommended a blood test and flu shot, I hate needles, but the nurse who took my blood was so patient with me and talked me through the process to get my mind off the needle. It was almost like nothing happened at all. I then got X-​rays, there was not wait for that either. Entire process from start to finish including bloodwork, flu shot, urine test, doctors consultation and x-​rays was 50 minutes out the door. WOW! I love this place and Dr. Messler, highly recommend!!!
