Black Bear Diner

Food is great and the wait service is great too. However the last two times I have come to eat, it takes 15 minutes just to pay! Very frustrating to have to wait that long!

Just ate breakfast there and the food was bad. Asked for no onion in the omelette and they put onion in and the server new it as I heard her tell the cook it was supposed to have no onion and she still served it. Once she brought the food she did not even come back to the table do I could let her know. The potatoes were also very under cooked, half raw. So I basically had warm bread for $ 14 for breakfast since they only warm up bread for toast. Giving them 2 stars because a lot of the time their food is decent, kind of hit and miss, and service is usually far better.

One star for the poor service, food was okay but overpriced for what was offered. Atmosphere was a little kitchy.

I have eaten here for breakfast and always had good service. Tonight was not the same. Maybe it is the young servers but they were soooo unorganized. The food was as not prepared as ordered and when I mentioned the issue the cook had issues when he is the one who made the mistakes. Rebecca did try but all the other servers felt it was gossip night at the counter.

Ate here twice this week for breakfast and it was good both times. You get plenty of good food and the coffee is a bit stronger than most restaurants. I noted that the menu is smaller than the Black Bear in Beaverton, but still adequate. I would recommend this place.

I can not believe an establishment would turn away hungry firefighters. I guess whomever made that decision does not appreciate their efforts to keep her area safe. After hearing this story I would keep going rather than stop at this establishment

I love Black Bear Diners — yet this one refused to serve wildfire firefighters. These individuals put their lives on the line to save people’s property and lives including this diner if it was threatened. But they were turned away because a tour bus would be coming in an hour. Seriously — what a lame excuse

Seems rude server Heather is now a manager. The same manager who refused to serve 4 vans of Wildland Firefighters last week because a bus load of Canadians was to arrive in an hour. Her excuse was that they wanted to sit together and choose to leave to upper management when confronted. After reading these reviews the common thread is a server née manager with no tact.

Won’t stop here anymore on my trips up north. As long as Heather works there, I won’t go in.

I got the big burger and it was huge. It was delicious with thick pieces of bacon on it and great toppings. It came with a big portion of fries which I very much appreciate. It’s never overly busy so service is always quick and attentive. My dad killed a plate a ribs that he seemed pleased with. My wife got the turkey burger and thought it was okay. I tried it, kinda flavorless but that’s after I had eaten mine. Great large menu with lots of options and breakfast served all day. Always room to sit and I like the bear décor. I think the wooden bear statues are awesome and I wish I could put one in my apartment. Prices aren’t bad for the portions either.

Just had the worst service ever. I wait over an hour for a ticket of 5 to find out that hey hadn’t even made my food yet. The manager heather was rude and refused to speak with us when I requested a manager for 20 mins! Straight up refused to help her customers, saying «I had my own section to deal with». Her reason for our untimely service is that they lost my ticket in the middle of making my food, wait what, you were literally making the food and lost it, you have to be kidding me, so they just didn’t make it. Nor did the bother to come communicate with me that there was a mistake and that they were working on it. How is it that you lose a ticket of 5, your management needs to be put in check and so does your crew. 1 hour later and you still have even started is ridiculous and just flat out not worth my time or money any more so don’t worry I walked out refusing to pay for our coffees and attempted to set the manager straight! Black bear you have lost our service for a life time but rest assured we ordered, tipped, and got better service and food from the pancake house!

Had breakfast here very friendly wait staff yummy food but HUGE portions way too much for me to eat!

My family and I enjoy going to the Redmond locations. The food is always good as well as the service.

Had a group of 17. Was able to make reservations. Had a nice room in back to fit our group. Waitress staff was great. Food was delicious and wonderful portions. Will come back next convention. Thank you from The Vegas Blackjacks RV Club.

Never had a bad item here and the fried chicken and chicken fried steak are excellent and I never leave hungry.
I am sorry I do not remember her name but one of the best waitresses I have ever had works there. And I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the country.

Not surprised to see the negative reviews here. My friend ordered the club sandwich and it was clearly missing a piece of the sandwich. Will attach the picture. The waitress said she did not understand what we were complaining about. We showed her a picture they had there at the table of a similar sandwich and she said «I’m still not understanding.» WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?! She started counting the pieces of toast and said that is always how they make it. She could have at least said «let me double check with a manager or the chef» but nothing she angrily snatched up the plate and said «ok fine I’ll have another one made for you !» She ran off before we could tell her they just need to make the other quarter of the sandwich! We told the cashier that our waitress was very rude. She says, «A lot of people think she is rude but that is just the way she is.» Maybe it is time for a change Black Bear of Redmond! Our receipt said the waitress’ name is Heather.
That being said… BB of Madras and Bend are great… Redmond my last 2 visits have been so bad they are now on my boycott list.

I seem to always get blah service when I come here. Which is why I only have been here 3 times. It’s always because who I am meeting or with that day want to try it. The service is always slow. We ordered very simple things and it look over 25 minutes to get it and there were only two other tables with people. The food isn’t great and a little over priced for what you get.
2 stars for a cleanliness.

I live in Portland. I took my boyfriend to Redmond, Or yesterday morning, and he got so excited when he saw Black Bear Diner. He said «oh man, we got to go and try the chicken fried steak, im craving it»
I went to my dad’s first, he strongly suggested we went across the street to the Nook, but my sexy, suave, but stubborn boyfriend insisted we go to the black bear diner.
When I walked into your establishment, I was greeted by Tori, who instantly commented negatively on my outfit. I didnt realize there was a dress code to have breakfast…
Anyways, she sat us at our table, and we ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with Hashbrowns, and I ordered the Eggs Benedict.
My boyfriends toast, although looked toasted, was soggy and moist, but not like it was moist with butter.
Our hashbrowns were EXTREMELY mushy, or old, and tasteless.
My eggs benedict– I’m pretty sure no one bothered to toast, or heat my english muffin, and the holindaise sauce was gritty, not saucy.
And, not to keep the complaints going, but there was something truly wrong with the chicken fried steak. The gravy on top didnt even have sausage in it.
We both couldnt help but laugh at our plates.
We’ve never had such a bland, mushy, oddly textured breakfast.
We both are not one’s to complain at the restaurants, and put the waiter/​waitress in an awkward spot. I mean, she didnt cook our meal, she only boldy remarked on my wardrobe as if it were her place at all to begin with.
Needless to say, next time we’re taking my dad’s advice and trying the nook across the street.

I did NOT like the nut/​grain pancakes… gross.
they had to remake them because they were not cooked all the way through.
I am not sure if they discounted the bill because my parents picked up the check. I hope they did. I had to sit and watch my parents eat… yay.
Eggs were normal and ham was super tasty! :)
