The Low Cost Interlock device has been in my car for four months. You are meant to blow into a plastic tube which will then determine whether or not alcohol is in your system. Here are the problems with this device.(1) The plastic tube you blow into doesn’t fit tightly onto the hand held device so almost 100% of the time one has to attempt to get a reading about 7 times before the system stops saying it is an «insufficient sample.»(2) The device is wired to your car’s battery. The device has drained my battery twice necessitating a jump start.(3) If you drive a stick shift auto, holding and blowing repeatedly into a device is next to impossible and makes one very accident prone.(4) Know that the device will not shut your car down once you’ve done the first test even if you can’t get it to work on the second test which comes approximately 3 minutes after the first test. Do know that if you are in an emergency situation and don’t have the lung capacity to get the bloody thing to work or if it is, as it often is, malfunctioning, you will not be able to start your car. I, too, am against texting while driving a car but using this device on the road is far worse and far more dangerous. Note, also, that Low Cost Interlock offers a $ 50 rebate when you sign up with them. I sent in my rebate the day I had the device installed. Some three and a half months later I still did not have my $ 50 rebate in the mail. I called and was told that I should have complained during the 14-day«grace period» and therefore was ineligible for the rebate. I did not stop there. On my third try I reached a supervisor and promised that individual very bad press about the company’s device. Well deserved bad press. That individual then applied the $ 50 rebate to my next almost $ 80 payment. I hope this information is helpful in making a choice about which company to go with.

*Beware* They say no hidden fees… not true. They give you 2 months from the date they shipped it out for you to have it calibrated. So if you dont get it installed for another week or two you have to go back in sooner than they advise otherwise you have to pay to remove the lockout or pay to have your car towed. They are really nice until after you have the machine installed.

this place was a horrible disaster. its stated off great til they promise you 1 month free and ½ off the next. well they charged my account for the promised free month and biledl me Full price for the next. i had to call and speak with two different supervisors just to get this resolved. so the next month i used a different credit card to pay it an i was some how charge TWICE. so now the second charge caused my account to be overdrawn and they refuse to settle the difference. Some person in the billing dept named is a real BITCH. it just sucks that i have to deal with this horrible company for five months thanks to the state of California. if u can stay away from this nightmare. there are better companies out there

It’s sucks and it’s just a way for California to steal money it really doesn’t help at all. It should be for multiple offenders not one dui. Anyways it’s dangerous because you can’t start your car in an emergency. They equipment is faulty it can also mess your cars electrical system. And the equipment is so faulty you have to take it in for service monthly. The state of California and the DMV are the criminals.

This company appeared to be great when i was inquiring about the company and the service they provide. Everyone was friendly and all the questions i had before the installation were answered appropriately. HOWEVER right after i got my IID installed i had a lot of issues with my IID. I’ve been a customer since 3÷11÷2015 i got my installation done in Newark at My Fixr. They were great BUT everytime i have an issue with my IID i can NEVER get any help no one knows who to call or how to proceed. Right after i signed up all of a sudden NOONE from Low Cost Interlock can help me, the service i receive and continue to receive is a joke. I call to ask for a manager they are all busy no call backs. I get treated over the phone by staff in a very irritating manner. I feel that the staffing NEEDSMORETRAINING!

I hate that this service even has to exist, but if you’re going to have to get a device put in your car this is the one I recommend. Competitive pricing and great service. Thanks Becky and Karina.

Great professionalism and customer follow up. The manager, Tracie, provided exceptional advice and solutions as to my situation and I would recommend them to my family or any of my friends. They have a great sign up promotion and are forthright with all the fees and cost. Great company because of the awesome employees!
