Cute place inside – my son loved the wall murals. Terrific food and coffee and friendly service. Very generous portions. They know what they’re doing when it comes to perfectly cooked egg omelets. They also brought us a little plate of sample bites of their ridiculous cinnamon rolls. The only«con» is that the prices were a little steep. But the quality is certainly there, so you don’t necessarily resent the big tab.

I first discovered Yak’s four years ago — the one on Bechelli Lane that recently closed — and have made it a point to stop there every time I was passing through Redding(about 4 times a year). So when I drove up and saw it was closed, in a panic, I Unilocaled to see if there was another Yaks anywhere in Redding still. Which brought me here. Let me just say the beverages are still excellent. The hot paninis are still fantastic and gooey and still served on that amazing, fresh baked, thick sliced bread, which they really should consider selling but won’t because they’re jerks and want us to buy their sandwiches at their place. The service is still friendly. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed. The Wi-Fi is free. The parking is not as ample. I understand that the original owners of Yaks have sold this location to a new owner who will be giving it a new name and possibly tweaking the menu in the upcoming months. While I understand why they’re doing this, I implore the new owners to not let go of everything. Especially those sandwiches. Add to the menu, of course. But please, keep those sandwiches on that bread.

This is what a coffee shop should be. When you walk into Yak’s on Hilltop, you feel at home. There is plenty of comfortable furniture and places to plug in. I consistently pull 5 Mbps down with their wifi and have never had an issue with request time outs even when the shop is pretty busy. The best part about this shop is the sense of community that the owners and employees foster. You are treated as a person, not just a customer. The business transaction aspect of your interaction is only a tiny percentage. They genuinely want to get to know you. They exemplify good service.

I love that they have a drive thru. Also, their customer service is pretty good. Every time I visit this location, the employees are very friendly. All of their food is quality. Their scones/oatmeal cookies as well as their bagels are delicious. I like to order their Asiago Cheddar or Pesto Bagels for lunch. Their tea is better then their coffee in my opinion. I am a bit of a coffee snob and like my coffee made well. One of my favorite teas at the moment is the Blueberry Jasmine Iced Tea. DELISH! Perfect way to cool down on 100 plus weather. I’m surprised their other location closed on Dana, but happy they kept this one open. It’s also close to the mall and the corner area of Hilltop. Seating outside is limited, and inside is decent. I’ll be a regular soon enough ;)

I would give it 4 stars but I’m not quite there because the food is a little expensive for what it is. It is however, a pretty good place for panini’s. They offer a half panini and salad combo that I think is an excellent meal but for two people at lunch comes out to about $ 27 for what we paid. I guess I just don’t see it that worthy for the price but the food is quality and fresh.

An excellent place for leisure and gathering of friends for coffee, tea and food. Purchased a breakfast chicken burrito and the Coconut team ed with the Moroccan Mint Tea. Both were very good!

Until you guys improve I will go to «Brew» This is more for the owners. You are a coffee house… make good coffee! I usually will get a mocha when coffee houses have low standards. This place messed up a mocha, how to you mess up a mocha? Take your horrible coffee/ill trained baristas and dump chocolate on top to hide the horrible flavor. Food is okay, I enjoy the saucy burritos every now and then. The salads are big but make sure you get the dressing on the side or you might get a salad swimming in overly sweetened dressing making it not eatable. I would recommend getting the cinnamon swirl bagel with cream cheese or a burrito if you like sauces. Stay clear of the coffee, yuk. Owner recommendations: 1) go to «Brew» and ask jason or any of the baristas to come train you on a good coffee. Seriously, drop the ego and ask for help. 2) Your restroom is dirty and makes me feel like I am in a convenient store, that’s right your bathroom is being compared to a convenient stores. 3) The small things matter. Your trash can top in front of the bar doesn’t allow for your plastic togo cups to drop in easily and they have to be pushed in. 4) Understaffed Okay I’ll end on a positive. The employees are nice and the atmosphere is relaxing. The wifi is normally good and allows for good study space with power along the walls. I think this place has potential with a lot of effort. These reasons along with your cinnamon swirl bagel with cream cheese and burritos are why I gave 2 stars and not 1. Be Better.
