Very disappointed with this restaurant. My «veggie chili» was not chili at all… it was minestrone. I honestly thought they made a mistake and gave me soup instead of chili. I asked the server and he said, «Oh yes that’s our chili.» I told him it didn’t have the thick texture of chili and it was soupy. The food was nothing special. The prices are also out of control. I will definitely not go back.

We got lost on the one-way streets but agreed the restaurant was worth it. Excellent healthy food at reasonable prices. Very nice staff. I had the chicken gumbo and side salad. It was great. My friend had the lentil soup with a side salad and she also enjoyed the very healthy lunch.

Had breakfast while visiting in Redding. Food was good and they’re easy going and helpful with orders. Wanted corn beef hash on the side which the waitress was kinda iffy about doing but the cooks had no problem doing so. I usually hate breakfast but everything was good ;-) cute place too

Went there with family and friends and it was clean, reasonably priced and excellent cooking. Fresh local ingredients and some ingredients you wouldn’t normally see on some menus! The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 was how long it took to get our food and I will say we believe that their was just a mess up on some of the food so they had to recook which happens to the best of chefs so I could understand! Will definitely be back next time we visit friends and family in Redding!

I love this place! The food is fantastic and I love what they do to help the community. They do get busy, so make a reservation or be ready to wait during peak times.

My husband and I went here to have a late lunch and I ended up not feeling well once we got there and let me tell you… My waitress and the cooks did everything they could to safely get my husband his meal to-go and make me as comfortable as possible while I was waiting. I have never had service like that ever in my life. They actually genuinely cared about me. What a really great place and their food is allergen friendly and good too!

Me and my girlfriends went on half priced wine night. We also ordered their Gaelic fries and sweet potato fries, they came with this chipotle sauce that was TODIEFOR! We were serenaded by live cruise ship music. Some oldies, but goodys!

Had biscuits and gravy. It was delicious. My wife had an omelette, which was great and my son had a pancake. Josh was our waiter. He was very friendly and helpful with the menu and he kept our drinks full all the time. We did not have to wait for a table. Good atmosphere. Great coffee. Great all around experience. We will be back.

The Spoon knocked it out of the park today! The Easter Omelette was fantastic. Roasted cherry tomatoes and pesto made this a delicious dish. My wife had the french toast with strawberries and lemon in the whip cream. Delicious! Friendly staff makes this place a regular for us.

I haven’t been here since they moved downtown but my husband and I loved their breakfasts, they had a ton of options and the veggie sausage gravy was amazing. My husband loves the loaded potatoes and I love the veggie scramble. The lunch was not our favorite so we mainly stopped in for breakfast or the flat rate Valentine’s day dinner which was delicious. he service was always good and the community feel was great.

Went there twice. First time we went in and waited at a table for 20-minutes and not one person stopped by to offer water, a menu, or anything. We walked out. The 2nd time we had some burgers which were pretty good, but that was about it. The blue chips were soggy and served sloppily. The«blue cheese» dressing was runny and not consistent and it pretty much ruined what could have possibly been a good dish. It also had some crumbles on it, but they piled it all on a couple of chips and it over powered them. They did not take the time to spread it evenly over the chips. Also the dressing and the crumbles had a funky flavor to them. I love blue cheese, but this stuff was just not right. I went in the bathroom and it was disgusting. That was pretty much the final straw. If the bathroom(that the customers can see) is that filthy, I can only guess how unsanitary the kitchen must be. This place has had great reviews, but I just have not been real impressed with what I have seen and tasted. They have potential though. The wait staff was really good the 2nd visit. The guy with the shaved head and muscular body was really nice, but also really loud and boisterous. He was standing behind the counter talking to other staff and was really loud and obnoxious. I wasn’t paying attention to what he was saying, but it was just loud and distracting. It was personal talk and not about customers or business, so it was annoying. I couldn’t even hear what my wife was saying right across the table from me. I just couldn’t get past the mediocre food and the disgusting bathroom. They are now moving to a location downtown that has had one failed food place after another. I think it was a bad decision, but I will probably still go check it out once they are up and running. Like I said, the place does have potential, but in my opinion they should have stayed where they were and improved upon what they had. One thing I did like was that they did do a lot of charity things like«pay what you can» on Mondays and they helped out others also. So that is why I wanted to support the business. I have heard them say that they will probably not do that at the new location because of the homeless in the area, however I would like to see them do something to help out. That is something I could get behind and support. I wish them all the luck in their new location. It sure would be nice to see a successful business there again.

Super stoked to find this place with a few empty tables on such an empty stomach! The staff was super friendly and the vibe was comfortable … They use organic eggs and the strawberry jam alone will have me looking forward to my next visit to the savory spoon!!! I would say the best way for the place to improve would be the music … If you like classic 80’s music while you eat breakfast than cool but for me not so cool

Haiku Review Swampy chicken parm, with diced weird chewy chicken– salad was good* though *not good enough to make up for that hot mess of a bland sandwich

I have been wanting to come check them out at their new location. It was nice. The ambiance was lovely. The hostess tried seating us in the center of the restaurant so we requested a booth at the far end of the dining room. It was much better but the seat back of the booth was so deep I couldn’t rest my back on the booth which was hard for me. I will sit in a chair next time. The food was really good. I got the Don Luis with Shrimp and my friend got the Ahi Tuna Salad. I got to taste hers as well. Both were really good. The shrimp on mine could have had a bit more flavor for my taste but it was good. Our waiter, Josh, was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu which helped. He didn’t know the answer to a question and without hesitation went to get me an answer. That made me feel like he valued me enough to find out. Thanks Josh! The bathroom was cute with a little table and chairs in there but there was a big gap between the sink and the wall which made me feel like the sink could come crashing down at any time. My friend though the restroom was dirty. They have a weird lift on the handicapped toilet which was just a bit odd but I am sure it is because they are trying to accommodate their special needs customers, which is awesome. Overall, it was a good experience and it was my friend’s first time. She liked the food but thought the salad could have been more generous. She went away hungry and said she was going home to eat some more veggies. I had only been to the old location a couple of times and have been happy every time. I look forward to exploring more of their menu selections.

This was my very first restaurant encounter since I moved to Redding for work. My first attraction was the Vegetarian menu. While I am not personally Vegetarian, I find that restaurants who offer this type of food typically have quality ingredients. My hunch was correct. I was torn between the Ahi Burger and the Ahi Salad.(I’m currently trying to eat low-carb foods). Personally, I would recommend the Burger, it looked more substantial and was cheaper. The Ahi quality was up to par, great flavor, prepared perfectly. The greens were very fresh. I added a side of Wasabi aioli with the soy ginger dressing, and I think that was an excellent choice! Overall, their food appeared to be very good quality, the prices were a little high, but to be expected at this type of restaurant with quality ingredients. The quickness of service was about average, the staff was very friendly. I gave it a 4 star simply because of the price of what I ordered. I guess I expected a little more Ahi Tuna for $ 18. Go with the Ahi Burger($ 15) and just take the bun off next time. It’s the same thing for a cheaper price.

A well meaning yet slightly skilled kitchen. The front service was active, and attentive yet unskilled. The owners purchase good food, the raw materials were good. The preparation was pedestrian. In particular, the kitchen washes the fruit poorly. My grapes tasted like onions, and still had field grime on them. It’s simple to prepare grapes. Use a clean large bowl, a gallon of fresh clean water, a cup of pure vinegar: agitate gently, rinse clean. Swish with a little lemon juice and a tablespoon of sugar. Plate. Done. These little steps take you from«meh» to «wow!» Use the same vinegar wash, cold water rinse process with untrimmed strawberries. Your’s were unwashed. Then use a sharp paring knife to core and top each strawberry. Swish with lemon juice & sugar. Plate. Look at this sad looking fruit you serve. You lopped the top off of each berry didnt bother to core them. It says«we’re in a hurry, we dont have time for details» Nothing exciting there. Was that a mouse poop on my pineapple? I don’t know, but it shouldn’t come with my food. You’re small town, and may take this review the wrong way, as harsh or rude even. Don’t. I’m telling you this because the details are what separates«meh» from«wow!» Sausages were tasty and warm, not hot. Potatoes tasted and looked sad, also warm not hot. Waiter was a good kid. But you guys have to look for ways to take yourselves from just doing a job to taking pride in the little details.

I passed through Redding on my way up the interstate, so I decided to try The Savory Spoon given the positive reviews at its old location. This new place is across town from the old one. Service is great, but the food could use some work. I tried their loaded mac, which they give you three size options for. I found that a medium wasn’t very filling, and it was $ 14, so it didn’t seem worth it. The cheese was basically a soup. The dish also comes with jalapenos, which I’m generally fine with, but I felt like there were way too many and that it overwhelmed the dish. I would stick with other dishes. Burgers seem especially popular here, and they have plenty of options if you’re vegetarian or vegan that are labeled well on their menu.

Love the food and new location– it is our go-to restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner! On Sundays, there is a special brunch menu that includes eggs Benedict, which is my favorite. The service has always been great. The tables are kid-friendly with paper tops and crayons available. They have a romantic atmosphere for dinner that is absolutely lovely. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

This place has just moved and is beginning to establish itself. The food is still excellent, and staff is very friendly. Try the mousse. I am not a big mousse person, and some how Savory Spoon managed to make it amazing. Not too rich or sweet, the mousse chocolate is almost like brownie batter and so good, with house made whip cream. I hear the Sinco DiMaio mousse is one worth a stop in for as well
