This was one of the first places I visited when I moved to redding, greatly enjoyed it. It was fun for a first date and sitting at the grill kept it a fun/non-awkward experience. Also, the staff was awesome, which makes all the difference. While there is some newer staff, including myself now, I can tell you everyone there works hard to make your meal enjoyable and fun. P. S. There’s some good sushi that’s not on the menu! Try Kobe out, and if you have been, come again!

It’s one of the more luxuriously fashioned restaurants in Redding. The food is good, but the prices are higher than most places here. I think this is due to where they get their supplies from, «choicest meats, scrumptious seafood, and garden-fresh vegetables», as stated on their website. It’s fun to watch them cook and put on a show.

LOVELOVELOVE… last time the food was just warm at lunch, a bit disappointing but still gets 5 stars because I’ve been there many times and it was always amazing.

Delicious! So very fresh. Food and sushi. A little entertainment and a lot of great flavor. The volcano roll is big enough to share and the best I’ve had anywhere. Beef is cooked to order right in front of you and delicious. Our favorite place to eat in Redding.

I eat at a table, my mistake worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant. The waitress yelled at me, told me I was wrong, followed me out of the restaurant to let me know I was wrong. The service I received is my opinion not hers. I will never be back, most discussed

We couldn’t help but notice this time that a lot was missing from our take-out order(items that are normally always provided) along with reduced portions of the main entrée in the bento box dinner meals. It’s normal for restaurants to reduce portions if they’re looking to increase the profit-to-cost ratio, so my main gripe is with the missing food items inconsistency. Two out of three bento boxes came with the advertised side order of California rolls while one did not. Normally, wasabi, ginger, and packets of soy sauce come with the meal — to accompany the California rolls. So, just to update my review for Kobe, unfortunate oversights do happen. And when they happen on a large order, it’s cumbersome to rectify when you pick up the food since it involves opening a dozen boxes at the restaurant right then and there. So I see the burden of responsibility for making sure each order is complete falling more on the staff members.

Is it a 5-Star restaurant… no. But for Redding, I’m going to rate them a 5-star because it beats 99% of all the other restaurants in town! We made a reservation for three in advance, wanted to celebrate my son’s b-day on a school night! We arrived a few minutes early and were told to wait 15 minutes. I get that they want people there to fill up the seats around the grill so we were cool with that. We were not cool with, however, with the rude hostess who offered us a table elsewhere because the other grill tables were full and there were only two chefs on duty… which again, I was cool with but don’t say«oh my God» and roll your eyes at patrons. best way to lose customers. Aside from that, our waiter, Seth, was the man! He was attentive, friendly and accommodating! Andy was our chef! He was fun and kept us entertained! The food, was great, no complaints, and there was plenty of it for the prices! Great place to kick back and appreciate the ambiance, the aromas and the laughter all around the restaurant. We ordered the spring rolls, a dinner Bento box and theTeppanyaki chicken. All very tasty and well prepared. Full bar… nice place to get dolled up for yet still a laid back atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back with out of town friends. A real treat this place!

I’m a fan of Kobe. I have always had good luck there. The chefs are very pleasant and the food is fresh(I mean, it is cooked right there in front of you!). There is plenty of food for you to split with someone(the hubby and I usually share and they are super accomodating about it). I have also had the sushi there and it’s very good. Make reservations — this place fills up quick. Come hungry because you do get the following: soup, salad, two shrimp appetizer, rice(fried or steamed — here’s a tip — go with the fried, it’s fabulous!), vegetables and whatever protein you have picked. You may want to wear a darker top if you plan on catching the broccoli with your mouth if you aren’t the most coordinated. Make sure you get the tepanyaki tables towards the back, the front ones are drafty. People claim it is a little pricey, but I beg to differ. You get a ton of food and a show. I recommend it for a fun, leisurely night out.

tried this place for the first time today, loved it! personally I love hibachi places and watching the food be cooked right in front of me. I ordered the hibachi chicken lunch for around 11 $! the meat was incredible, perfectly cooked and seasoned. the meal comes with onion soup, fried rice, and veggies. the soup was actually very good, a great beginning to a great meal! the fried rice was cooked perfectly with egg and some veggies. the actual veggie side the cook prepared was also seasoned and cooked perfectly, the veggies were cooked at the perfect point where they are steamed and softened but not over done! my boyfriend had ordered the hibachi New York steak and chicken, and the steak was also soooooooo good. I cannot get over how amazing the cook was at seasoning and preparing the meat so well. the atmosphere of the place is also very nice, unfortunately my boyfriend and I had to sit with some extremely loud and annoying children, but that’s not the restaurants fault! but it did definitely make the environment just a bit less enjoyable. the portions were over all good. I expected a little more meat, I felt as if the amount of meat given could barely make a full meal. so my only dislike is that I wish the portions were a tad bit larger! overall I’m very satisfied with this place, and I will for sure return again.

There are two sides of the restaurant, the Teppanyaki grill side and the sushi side. I have eaten on both sides. This is a place I will gladly take our out of town family members to eat. The Teppanyaki grill options are tasty and so fresh. They will not seat you until your whole party is there, so keep that in mind. It is a really fun thing to do with a big group. If you like sushi, order some rolls, they are delicious. I really enjoy the pepper tuna appetizer. Also, we took sushi roll suggestions from the waitress, all three of them were the best I have had in Redding; zombie roll, Dragon and a chef special not on the menu. I know«best sushi in Redding» doesn’t really hold much water typically but they were really good. Promise.

Ok SO, the only reason I am compelled to shoot them 4 stars is because it’s a teppanyaki grill and there is entertainment while you eat. Aside from that it’s pretty much you’re average corporate sushi place. There is nothing fabulous about the food. It’s defiantly over rated that’s why I am only giving 3 stars — but be prepared to leave smelling like a vat of oil. Seriously. PRETTYAVERAGEPLACE. But the service, atmosphere and entertainment is pretty chill. Hella expensive for not so memorable food — but super tight for a date. Don’t get me wrong I would eat here again I just wouldent out it on the map MAP.

I have been several times to Kobe’s and I have yet to have a bad experience. I have always eaten at the grill so maybe that has something to do with it? Those that are going with a group, make sure you all arrive together or you will not get seated at the grill unless your entire party is there. Parking can be a challenge so I always opt to park in the underground parking lot just a block away.

Called in an order for pick up and Wes was awesome! I asked for all of my food to not be made with margarine. He was friendly quick and asked the chef, love this place for great customer service!

LOVELOVELOVEKOBE Teppanyaki! Hv bn a cpl/few times for lunch and dinner. Ordered kalbi bbq beef ribs, New York strip and filet mignon, fried rice, steamed veggies usually consisting of zucchini, onion, carrot, medley, 2 shrimp appetizer, occasional salad and Asian onion or miso soup. Super tasty! Portions are HUGE. Filet Mignon melts in the mouth. New York strip is tender and juicy. Bbq beef ribs were so delicious I didn’t even see my guys eat them they gone so fast! Shrimp was divine grilled in garlic butter. No fishy taste. Veggies fresh and crisp. I LOVE their onion soup. Very simple broth w/crispy onion and mushroom. Miso ws VERY salty. Communal seating is super fun. Meet new people. Laugh. Visit. Be entertained by other diners as well your chef. It’s all super interactive! TIPYOURCHEFPEOPLE!

I’ve lived here four years and have been waiting to try this place. Today we went for a spur of the moment lunch. I ordered the Korean bbq beef plate and fiancé ordered the Habachi chicken bento box. We did not enjoy it at all :/my meat was tasteless, the salad was drenched to soggy, my plate had so much raw onion that I felt like all I ordered was a raw onion, the teryaki sauce didn’t taste like teryaki, fiancé’s chicken was so dry we could barely swallow it, California rolls had no taste either. The only tasteful thing was the Philadelphia roll @ $ 7.50 a pop. Next time I’ll take my happy face to Tokyo garden where they are $ 5. The service was GREAT though.

Good value for good sushi. We also ordered the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Plate along with the fried tofu. I wouldn’t order the fried tofu again, though it had bonito flakes atop it. I like the friend tofu with the crispier skin. The thing I missed when entering and leaving this sushi bar is the greeting by the chef and staff as I come and go. That is a nice Japanese custom not apparent this night.

Their teppenyaki grill is awesome. Their filet lunch is slowly becoming my favorite lunch in town. Our server Ben is always friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend you give it a try.

By far the best sushi in Redding. Melts in your mouth! I get the Kung Fu which never disappoints. Super fresh ingredients. Service is okay, not spectacular, not horrible. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. The servers really need to step up their game. On our last visit our server forgot to put in the order for one of our rolls and it came WAY late, surprised he even charged us for it.

8.27.2015. Having lamented loudly and with great enthusiasm the lack of any passable sushi digs in Redding, California… I was informed of this spot by three separate friends in the same day. Insofar as my one visit is concerned, this was a five star sushi establishment. Tue only reason for the absence of star five here is that my order of green tea saw a bag of Lipton in a micropot delivered to my table. This spot features a backlit bar, several tepenyaki stations, an open floorplan, friendly staff and non-intrusive music. The head sushi chef is both humble and fearless… Evidenced by his choice of creations for my ‘Chef’s Choice’ roll. Heavy unagi, collar, and ultra-spicy tuna. Tue plating is fantastic! In addition to my chef roll, I ordered a special: the monkey brain. Very artistically created, easy on the palate, and using both fresh and ripe ingredients. I enjoyed the plating and culinary ability enough to leave a 100% tip… So, being that frugality is next to cleanliness in my life… That should tell the reader something.

Stopped in for lunch but didn’t have time to sit at the grill or sushi bar. Definately plan to next visit because we missed a great«show» not being at the grill table and the sushi bar lit up & looked like it’s be beautiful at nightl! We plan to go for dinner to see it all in a darker atmosphere :) As per Unilocal comments, the place is very clean & well kept w/a nice atmosphere! So. I had the Scallops Lunch Special. Came out sizzling :) and the best, most delicate & tender scallops I’ve had anywhere! The vegetables were also piping hot, tender, fresh & a delicacy. All in a phenomenal sauce! My Hubby agreed as he tasted my scallops while awaiting his Chicken/Veggie/Noodle dish(didn’t get the name of it but like a stir-fry). Yep. My Hubby’s dish was as fresh, etc. also in a very nice sauce & piping hot! Thanks to our great server, Elijah, who helped us order(based on our«likes, etc.»), we will definately be back for a dinner at the grill AND a Sushi Bar lunch!
