Great breakfast! Potatoes and sausage was superb. Great service… and value. Coffee was average. .only reason for not being 5 stars

Friendly enough place to stop for a quick meal. The teriyaki bowl wasn’t as good as all the reviews suggested. It wasn’t bad… It just wasn’t great.

Had a great breakfast, their special chicken fried steak and eggs w/hash browns. Hubby loved his eggs over easy, sausage and hash browns. YUMMAGE! Compliments to the chef! We’re so coming back!

Service was excellent, very friendly and accommodating, and presentation was great. The jalapeño burger was the best item, very tasty and almost medium rare(as requested), and the tater tots were deliciously crunchy. The chicken teriyaki was yummy and tender, but the vegetables were slightly overcooked and lacking in flavor, we would have preferred sushi rice rather than plain steamed rice, and would have liked a little more sauce drizzled overall. In the dragon bowl, the eel was fine but skimpy(I expected about twice as much), and same problem as the teriyaki bowl with the veggies, rice, and sauce. The udon soup flavor was sort of muddled, the noodles were slightly mushy and broken up, and the shrimp tempura was heavy and doughy rather than light and crispy. To be fair, we were asked how the food was and responded that everything was good. We were mid-road trip and didn’t want to spend extra time there, and it’s hard to complain to such a friendly server.

The four stars is still a compliment. This place is a diner, so the ambience is exactly what I expected. The service gets five stars times ten. Super friendly, indeed. It’s so nice to be treated with such a big smile, positive attitude and fast service. Our burgers were standard diner fare, and that is also a compliment. We left full, without a big dent in our wallet, and headed back south on I-5. Great place to stop for some good eats, and a warm welcome. Oh, and free wifi is a nice bonus.

Great service, great ownership, always get the cheeseburger/fries or salad special which is one of my favorite cheeseburgers ever! Cheaper than a fast food meal, and it’s so much better!!!

Ths restaurant is hidden behind a large tree on Main Street mkng it easy to just ride on by. The café itself is dark and dated. The employees tend leave the front door open with a type of metal security gate welcoming customers in. This would be great, however, being they’re located at the towns most active intersection, sitting at a front dining table is NOT the best of ideas unless you’re into inhaling exhaust fumes from all the vehicles that stop and go every 2 – 3 mins. Take a seat in the middle if available. Its your best option. Wait staff demeanor is hit and miss. Again, I try to order take-out whenever possible to avoid a potential disaster. wink! wink! We’ve ordered their Teriyaki Chicken w/rice and veggies and the cheeseburger special. There are options as to how spicy one would like their teriyaki-which is fabulous! and LOTS of veggies are provided(broccoli, zucchini & baby carrots). They’re rice flavorful, altho @ one particular visit it was icky sticky-yuck, too, much H2O. The chicken is moist and tender and comes in small strips. They’re like man-sized bites, so, ladies, be prepared to take 3 – 4 bites to their one. The cheeseburger special includes fries, drinks are ALWAYS extra of course. Water is complimentary :) — drink up! Overall the food is great. Service… hmmm…hit and miss. Prices are reasonable as the teriyaki plate was abt $ 9 – 10 and the cheeseburger special abt $ 4 – 5. We’ve not tried any other items on the menu, altho we’ve been to this establishment 3 – 4 xs now. LOL We’d definitely recommend the Chicken Teriyaki.

The Sugar Shack is in our usual weekend breakfast rotation. Always get a good meal here. Owner\cook always comes out and makes sure we enjoyed our meal. Great prices too. One of the best values in town.

Monday two thirty the need to feed hit me and since I was right outside the Sugar shack I decided to go in. Best choice ever. thing, used the restroom it was immaculate and clean and stocked with paper towels that was a good sign. Cheeseburgers and fries, wash shut it down with a Diet Coke with a twist of lemon all is fine. Friendly too, and they count your change back correctly.

SYNOPSIS: A never-fail bet for a great meal! You can’t miss with this hidden gem. REVIEW: Having lived in the area for several months, I must confess we passed right by Sugar Shack’s Main Street location on many, many occasions without giving it a second glance. How wrong we were to pass up such a gem based solely on its low key exterior! I do not say it lightly when I say we have never had a bad meal at Sugar Shack! Hubby is a fan of the Teriyaki Bowl and I have sampled several salads and sandwiches as well as their perennial cheeseburger and fries special. We are so impressed, that we have taken several lunch dates to Sugar Shack after first cautioning them to look beyond the façade. Lunch time brings a crowd to this local favorite, so be early or be patient.

I travel a lot. As such, sometimes I get out of the car and need to use a bathroom before I look at a menu or think about what I would like to eat. This strikes me as normal human behavior. This morning I arrived in Red Bluff early and stopped in here. I asked if I could use the restroom and right away was told that only customers could use the bathroom. Amazing because she had no idea whether I was a customer or not. I opted to leave as I don’t give my money to businesses that don’t let people use the restroom, which seems inhumane and stingy to me, because they assume they can’t get enough money out of them. I would rather give my money to a small business, but in this case I ended up at Starbucks where I could walk right into the bathroom and the staff was super friendly. And guess what, I gave them my money.

I’m a foodie and was not impressed. Sushi here was not good. I could have gotten better sushi at Safeway. The rice was a blob of smush and bland. I was honestly very very disappointed. I have never felt so unsatisfied with a meal. I rated this place two stars because maybe there is hope for the other food items they offer. If I was rating based on the meal I had I would have given 1star. Customer service: the lady that helped me was nice.

We were hungry and looked up a place to eat on Unilocal. This place got good reviews so we figured why not. Not the best choice. Sushi was bland and mushy and the crunchy shrimp was decent but not the best. For $ 50 it was not worth it.

Terry’s getting it done! I had the Bento box… a ton(cali roll, teriyaki chicken, rice, and tempura veggies) of really good food for a decent price.
