Hey kids, let’s all take a trip to Divey McDive-Town. This place is beloved by the locals. And why shouldn’t it be? It has all the calling cards of your favorite local hole in the wall. Off the beaten path? Check. Unassuming, plain Jane looking structure? Check. Simple, straight forward menu with comfort food classics? Check. Smiling, friendly service? Check. Where this place kind of drops the ball, though, is the food. The beer selection is also severely limited. The wings are decent — medium size, nice crispiness, wide sauce selection. The nachos were dreadful. Topped with a paltry amount of dry meat, they really left something to be desired. And somehow, the chips themselves were overcooked. It looked as though they took old chips and tossed them back in the fryer. I know the tortilla chips in nachos are supposed to simply be the vessel in nachos, but in this case, they were burnt, bitter, fried beyond all recognition, and actually took away from the dish. Not sure what they were thinking there! My burger was completely overdone. When I ordered, I did so assuming they’d overcook it. Sorry, I’m just paranoid. So in this case, since I wanted a medium-well burger, I asked for it done medium. Well, it came out well done. Just like in a diner(no matter how you ask for a burger in a diner, even if it’s rare, it WILL come out well done). So I told the server, she took it back, and it came out well done AGAIN. I think it’s literally impossible for small, divey places and diners alike to cook any meat to order. It must just be an unspoken rule that I wasn’t aware of. As for the beer selection, if you like IPAs, you’ll be in luck. Outside of their IPA selection, it’s Miller and Coors variants. I can see myself coming back here for a beer and finger food with a few buddies, but I would never consider it for a real lunch or dinner.

Excellent craft beer selection and fantastic wings. Love the old school atmosphere. A real hidden gem.

Great little place bar food and drinks. Seems like a local secret. Bartender, Jennifer, was helpful and attentive. Nice bar menu. I asked two girls at the bar what they would suggest. The wings, brick house fries, Greek salad and quesadillas are good. We had a half portion of old bay fries(lots for half portion), stemmed shrimp, scallop special and Greek salad. Everything was great! Fresh. Clean. We’ll be back for pre-hockey eats and to catch NHL games.

I agree, this is a hidden gem. Who would have known! Really nice beer selection on the tap. Variety of Wings, salads, and sea food. Good menu. Overall good mix of drinks and food. Loaded potato was delightful. I highly recommend this place.

This was our first time here and it was a good first impression. You drive through a neighborhood and there it is… I like where it is located. I had wings and they were really good, fried very crispy just the way i like them. My wife had a shrimp special and it was great. They had a good selection of beer and it was a pleasant atmosphere. We will be back

This place has amazing food– great wings and fries! Drink prices aren’t bad and they keep seasonal beers on tap. The bartenders and staff are super friendly. It’s a small but very cute little pub in a nice area. We go there all the time because it’s so close and we have never had any issues.

Had wings here for the first time on Sunday afternoon. First off let me just say they have a list about a page long of all the different flavors they offer! I had a dozen of the tres amigos wings, and my friends and I shared a pitcher of beer — all domestic pitchers on Sunday were $ 7. Pretty good deal! The wings were crispy, flavorful, decent size and came with veggies and ranch or blue cheese(your choice). I was able to sample my friends wasabi ranch wings and that was a really great flavor too. Who woulda thunk it?! Considering how crowded it was in the middle of the afternoon our server was very friendly, and all of our food for the 5 of us came out on time, nice and hot, and all our orders were correct. I’ve always loved the brick house for beers and hanging out with friends, but now I know it will be one of my tops choices for wings too! Yum!

I couldn’t believe it. This is truly the quintessential brick house. It’s located right in the heart of a neighborhood in Reading. You could mistake it for any other spot on the block if it were not for the neon signs. But once you get up the steps and through the door, you know, this is what the beer scene used to be like… that spot everyone knows your name. And wit hit blending in with the other houses in the neighborhood… it truly was home for me. The line up for beers are right on the money and the prices match. $ 4 a pint? And for big names like Blue Moon and Heavy Seas… works for me. As for the grub? The nachos, were good. Nothing that blew my mind, but very good. The wings are where it’s at. They have tons of flavors and the two I happened to order knocked it out of the park. The Hawaiian ones… that’s what I recommend. It was a chill evening, but the service was great. We were able to sample everything before we ordered. Very accommodating. A must try if in the Reading area and looking for something unique.

OK, you’re all gonna call me a whimp for 5 starring this, but I really enjoyed this. My first impression was«does this place take credit cards?» but just one step inside changed my mind. Not only did they have a placard bearing all of the cards, they had a terminal that just screamed«feed me plastic!!» All the joking aside, it’s very small looking from outside, but very«homey» and warm when you get in the door. Nikki(hope that’s right) was tending bar, and she seems to be a favorite of all of the locals and the reason is probably because she does her job so well that she can hang out and still get hot food and cold beer to lie before you, well before you are expecting it. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with some really«fresh» fries — all hot and tasty just waiting to be eaten. It was wonderful — dripping with sauce yet crispy because of the croutons and lettuce — AWESOME! So service was an A+. Food was an A+(not really gourmet, but that’s not what you’re in here for!!). An finally, I met some fine local people(Sean & Chris) that had some wonderful conversation and a bunch of laughs to share — so A+ to the atmosphere! I think that justifies 5 stars! If you’re in Reading(and the Good Lord knows, we’ll all be in Reading… someday) get a designated driver, take the trek into the neighborhood and enjoy the evening!
