Good drinks and appetizers. The hotel is beautiful and very comforting. I loved the relaxing yet chic vibe! Can’t wait to stay there next time! The service was also excellent. I recommend sitting outside around the fire pits.

One of our friends has a vacay home in Palm Springs, so she took us to State Fare at the Ritz Carlton for dinner. I wasn’t sure what to expect since, c’mon, we were at the Ritz and the hallway leading to the restaurant had Picasso paintings up for auction. However, it was super low key. We sat on the outdoor patio, shared a bunch of plates, and listened to live acoustic music. After dinner, we walked along the property and took in the cliff-side view of the city. Not a bad evening. For a table of 4, we ordered: + Truffle Brie Mac N Cheese($ 9): pretty standard stuff but tasty nonetheless + Haas Avocado Fries($ 11): loved these; wasn’t sure what to expect but it’s actually fried avocado slices; definitely a highlight + Wild Arugula Salad($ 14): big portion, very light + Ripe Summer Tomatoes($ 15): this is really all about the burrata; nice, light dish but kinda pricey for what you get + Steak Frites($ 29): also comes with a small salad; steak was cooked just right but nothing to write home about We finished just about everything, and we were very satisfied. I would come here again. It’s a nice evening out, the view is beautiful, and the live music really adds to the ambiance. Make sure to get a seat on the patio. Parking is valet(tip only, I think).

At Ritz for friend birthday and dinner at state Fare our first. Night. Staff was amazing. Excellent service from all staff which was plentiful. Good was great especially avocado fries, arugula salad, scallops, short ribs, pasta… okay everything! It was a special occasion and they treated us fantastically from a private room to service that went above and beyond with special that to Spencer and Paulette! Thank you Ritz!

Came here for dinner and sat in the outside terrace– great view. For starters we ordered a lobster & crab special as well as the ripe summer tomatoes with burrata cheese– both were delicious and prepared very well. My husband had the prime burger while I had the sea bass special. While the bass was not the best I’ve had, my husband’s burger was very tasty– perhaps I’ll have to come back just to order one for myself. What I did not like was having to constantly ask for my glass of water to be refilled and having to refill our wine glasses ourselves.

Awful service and food! I keep going back. I must have been here 10 times, hoping that the quality would be better. This ain’t a Ritz Carlton, right? Waited for everything… Far beyond what one would expect. Twenty minutes before someone approaches the table. Order drinks, another twenty minutes. We ordered food, twenty minutes later the waiter. comes to tell us that they are out of chicken. Having been in the business, I know their POS system is capable of not over selling an item. WTF. The manager comes to render an apology. I’m sick of inept management, untrained staff, and a chef that has no idea of how to run a kitchen. It’s an embarrassment to my experience. I’m afraid I won’t be back to spend 485.00.

Amazing food and service! My husband and I stayed at the Ritz for our second wedding anniversary. We dined and drank at State Fare all weekend. Drinks: the drinks were delicious. I especially loved the vodka/champagne/lemon/Rosemary infused cocktail and the Bloody Mary. My husband drank old fashions all weekend. Breakfast: my go-to was the smoked salmon with whipped cream cheese, capers and onions on a jalapeño bagel. This had just the right amount of kick. The lattes were great also. Lunch: standard lunch options that were all really good-sushi, wrap, sandwiches, flat breads, etc. Dinner: superb! Loved the meatballs and short ribs in horseradish sauce were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Service was amazing all weekend! The staff is so friendly and engaging, and treated us so nicely. They all wished us a happy anniversary all weekend and brought us out some special desserts. What a memorable weekend!

My husband and I came here for drinks and ended up ordering a few plates to share for dinner as well. We sat outside and the view was beautiful. The plates we shared were the seasonal pickled veggies, cheeseburger and the mussels. All were very delicious and satisfying. The service here was also excellent. I definitely recommend coming here for a relaxing date night.

Very nice Hotel at the Ritz with a great ambiance at one of the restaurants; State Fare. Quiet, comfortable, stunning view overlooking the valley with fantastic service. We shared their version of a Caesar salad and it was good. The bread served was fantastic. But the hamburger was good, but not the best we ever tasted and not for $ 18.00. We also had the steak frites. The steak was over cooked so we sent it back. The next came perfectly prepared to medium rare but the taste was just OK. Go for drinks and appetizers, head elsewhere for dinner. Very expensive and just OK in terms of taste.

From the minute you enter the property, there is class and great service. Greeted at checkin with champagne and table full of candy and lemonade. The room itself is beautiful with a great jacuzzi and shower. Right outside has outside patio sitting with fire pits for each room that you can hang out and drink. The pool and restaurants are amazing as well. Highly recommend it

We stopped in one evening to relax and enjoy the mountain views, check out what the Ritz Carlton had to offer and enjoy a glass of wine and a meat/cheese board. We snagged a great seat on the patio and enjoyed our time. The menu is rather pricey, but to be expected at a Ritz Carlton.

We arrived at the Ritz starving and so grateful to have the State and Fare open for lunch. Our group of 4 were promptly seated at lovely table in the center of the room. The views outside were beautiful. A delicious bread basket was placed on our table with the creamiest butter. I ordered the most Devine cocktail, the ginger mallow. It’s tasty not too sweet the most beautiful hibiscus pink. Highly recommended. We ordered the Cobb salad it comes with an untraditional dressing but was delicious; the shrimp and Greek salad, shrimp was perfectly grilled, very good; vegetable dip and flatbread, flatbread was warm and perfectly grilled spreads were eggplant, hummus and beet all fantastic esp when layered on the flatbread; burger, this was amazing! Be warned its a little greasy and about 1000 calories but we split it in 4 for sharing and I didn’t feel even an ounce of guilt. The service was fantastic. Our waiter recommended the breakfast buffet so we returned the next morning for breakfast. Good recommendation! Breakfast buffet is $ 28 and comes with a coffee bar, made to order omelettes, the best smoked salmon, bagels, bacon, fruit all the best. We stuffed ourselves. Kids are $ 14 my son actually eats more than the rest of us combined so a good deal for me! I really recommend the State and Fare for the delicious food and fantastic service!

Four of us went there last night for restaurant week. We got there at 8:15 and sat outside. It was still a little light outside, but we needed to use our phone lights to read the menu. Later, when it got darker, the small candle poorly illuminated the table. We ordered 1 glass of wine, 1 beer, and a bottle of wine to share. Our friends ordered a bottle of water. One glass of Merlot came out.5 minutes later the bottle of wine was opened and served…5 minutes later the glass of beer. Our friends had owned 2 restaurants in LA and we all have eaten at many restaurants and were expecting 4 Star service. This is the Ritz Carlton right? First glasses of wine were poured, ice bucket brought… water was served. Total order was taken from appetizer to dessert from the restaurant week menu upfront. Although the outdoor seating had about 10 full tables, the whole inside dining room was empty, so I didn’t think there was an issue serving us. Before the appetizers arrived(took about 20 minutes) no one checked to see if we needed anything. Fried artichokes and cold pea soup were ok… waiting…still waiting… servers are serving, but no one comes to check on us even though we are at a visible table, Well guess we will have to pour our own $ 40 bottle of wine. Finally, at least a half hour later, our main course arrives. One friend ordered another glass of Merlot, and this time asked for it to be poured from a newly opened bottle because the first glass had been a little off. 3 short rib dinners with mashed potatoes and 1 sea bass. We are all foodies and enjoy cooking… plus our friends who owned restaurants… so I feel we understand food and service. The short ribs were hot on top warm in the middle and mash potatoes were lukewarm. thank goodness for the horseradish sauce and fresh ground salt and pepper on the table. I could see the kitchen from my table(open kitchen) and there was no swarm of orders. My friend who rdered the sea bass hated it, she switched with her husband who kept adding lemon juice to it. No one came to see how our dinner was. Time to pour our own wine. We managed to get another bottle of water for the other two, and had to ask for glasses to drink it. Time for dessert… we may have to get a room overnight and have our dessert in the morning. Finally it is here. Fruit tart strawberries are hard and bitter(this is a farm to table restaurant remember) The worst part is the top half of the strawberry still had its stem on it. Since it was close to 11:30, it wasn’t noticed until it was eaten by both people that ordered it. The donut holes and chocolate cake were ok. Next time we go to Burger & Beers after our movie. After 3 hrs and 30 minutes, our 3 course meal was done. SHAMEONYOU, RITZCARLTON! Valet parking was wonderful.

I have sincere doubts that this is truly a Ritz Carlton. Perhaps a Ritz Carlton as managed by Holiday Inn Express. The setting is pleasant, though the best views are reserved for the welcoming portico and the reflecting pool beyond the lobby. The State Fare terrace has a view of umbrellas at the pool.(The steakhouse is probably lovely but we didn’t dine there.) From the moment of arrival onward, the restaurant staff lacked the refinement one would expect from a Ritz Carlton(and I’ve been to many). The front of house staff all seemed like they were suffering the fallout of Monday after Mother’s Day. We had lunch reservations and were seated on the terrace. Apparently the bussers were all on strike. The table next to us sat dirty for most of our meal. We were first led to a clean, set table by the door to the terrace instead of one of the several empty, open tables in front, which was mystifying. Our special occasion was completely ignored. Not that I expected anything, but when I made the reservation I was asked if we’re celebrating anything, and indicated it was an engagement celebration lunch. There were only 4 of us and a simple greeting or acknowledgment of the occasion would have been anticipated and appreciated. Apparently this Ritz Carlton has its own set of low priorities. I’ve been to plenty of other competitive properties where they actually pay attention to these sorts of details. The menu is eclectic and clearly trying to accommodate a wide variety of tastes, from Indian to Mexican. The burger was good but uninspired, as, alas, was the whole dining venture. All in all, a sad excuse for a Ritz Carlton.

View: Amazing Ambiance: Upscale but relaxed Service: Mostly what you would expect at a Ritz Food: Great and Good Cocktails: Very Good. We didn’t know the Ritz was open, so pleasant surprise when we saw it on Unilocal. The drive up and grounds are special. Not much dining up on the mountain, so we were looking forward to the view. Valet, Host and busser type of person were all perfect. It got weird for a minute when we asked the server about certain cocktails and he said«I have no idea». We worked through that, but maybe a general cocktail training might be in order. Standout items were Tortilla Soup and Cesar Salad. Both inventive presentation and real live Cesar taste… no bottled dressing here. Note to management: Since Farm to Fork is the theme here, you could really benefit from better descriptions of the produce or sourced meats etc. re-describing your order when it’s brought to the table would enhance the care taken to select real live CA products! We will be back though… you have the scenery market cornered!

My husband and I wanted to take a friend out for her birthday. We stopped by the Ritz to check out the place and make reservations for 6:30. The host took down my name and my friend’s name, and assured us that they would do something special. When we arrived the next night, it was as if we’d never made the reservation. Neither the hostess on duty nor our server gave any indication that they knew it was a birthday. Luckily they gave us a nice table outside which saved the evening. After being seated, we waited 15 minutes for water and more than 30 minutes for drinks. It was the start of an incredibly slow night — and the restaurant wasn’t busy. There was only one couple inside and the patio wasn’t full. Eventually the hostess came over and took our drink order. We never got any of that good bread that other Unilocal reviewers talk about. Appetizers(charcuterie and vegetable spreads) sustained us through the long wait for entrees. They arrived somewhere close to 8:30 when it was completely dark. We asked for a candle — our server brought us two and we still couldn’t see our food. I ordered the Artic Char($ 34) which came with fava greens and a fava bean ragout. Both the host and server raved about it. In the dark, it was merely soft food, bitter food, crunchy food(broccolini?) and slippery food(mushrooms). My husband said his porterhouse steak($ 33) was nothing special and not cooked the way he’d ordered, but at that point he wasn’t going to send it back. Our server was friendly and seemed to be trying hard. She had to deal with some obnoxious loud drunks at the next table. And to her credit, she kept checking in with us and asking how everything tasted. But when it’s a special occasion and you’ve been waiting two hours, you’re not going to complain, right? You just eat whatever you’ve been given. When she brought the check, she apologized for the long wait and comped us with two glasses of wine. Our bill came to $ 200 before tip for two appetizers, three entrees and four drinks. State Fare has a beautiful location — a great place to go for drinks — but don’t expect more than that. Very disappointing for the price.

Phillip Randall was fun to chat with as he greeted & seated us. Hubby got their infamous Burger… he loved it… I tried some & it was so rich that I honestly don’t know how a single person can finish it in one sitting. It came with a side of yummy sweet potato fries… The Scallops I ordered were nice texture but a bit too salty & the Mustard greens had no taste… nothing to really add to the dish… other than fiber… LOL The bread was fresh & tasted like bread that I’ve made at home… perfect crust to dough ratio & textures. Avocado fries were good & came with Tomatillo Sauce & chili aioli sauce… get your good fats in a yummy way… Haha. It’s obvious that I love the word yummy! You know what’s better than that? When something actually tastes Yummy! Hehe We got a beautiful Chocolate Mousse Cake thing with Raspberry Sauce for our anniversary… Thank You Ritz! :-) The lighting and atmosphere was nice. The view is nice… you can sit inside or outside… Outside there are firepits & other things to keep you warm… When we stay again, we’ll done here again… but I’d recommend Lunch instead of dinner.

Sat here during a football game before heading to a wedding in the outside area at the Ritz. It goes without saying that the Ritz in Rancho Mirage is gorgeous. The surrounding areas are beautiful, as are the grounds. That being said, I wasn’t overly impressed by this place. I ordered two appetizers to share with my date — the deviled eggs($ 9) & the spicy calebresi flatbread($ 14). The flatbread was good, but not amazing, and slightly smaller than I’d have thought. The deviled eggs were quite disappointing. I found there to be way too much mayo in the filler, and there was nothing fun or exciting about them at all. It says they came with chorizo, and I suppose they did, but it was so little it was easily missed. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve made better deviled eggs myself, so spending nearly $ 10 on them was definitely a waste. Why 4 stars then? Well, it’s really a 3.5 star review, but the service and ambience make it impossible for me to give a 3. The service was what you’d expect from a Ritz — courteous, attentive and helpful. And the views, décor, etc. were perfect. If you’re staying at the Ritz or there killing time, State Fare is a good option. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to dine there.

This morning I had the opportunity of having breakfast out on the patio. One of the main issues was that I did have an empty coffee cup most of the time. I received my breakfast which had black pancakes please see the the picture and accompanying that was a bowl of fruit and which had translucent strawberries which are probably over a week old as you can see. The bacon, which I requested as crispy, was not– the second time around they made sure it was crispy, it was devoid of ANY moisture. A Ritz Carlton should be impeccable, you don’t serve food like this– $ 28.00. You have to get it right every time, the server, the food runner, and the chef have the responsibility to make it right. What a disappointment…
