Best Cabernet Franc in Ramona! Zinfandel is fantastic equal to Northern California. Not Lodi or Paso Zins much better!

We arrived in Ramona on a RAINY day. What drought? Bah. Thankfully, the following day we were treated to sunshine and warm weather. While awaiting the nuptials of our friends, me and the wonderful Jonathan D. took a lovely drive through the countryside after attending the Ramona Rodeo Days parade(a truly hilarious event, btw). Along the way we stumbled upon Chuparosa Winery and its owner, Andy. We pulled into the driveway and settled into Chuparosa’s tasting room, at which time Andy talked us through each of his [amazing] wines. Seriously. I never met a Rosé I ever liked… until now. Andy explained the entire backstory behind rosé wine and why many people don’t like it and/or haven’t been exposed to this different kind. In addition to the rosé we tried several more all to the tune of a cool $ 5 bill. The atmosphere at Chuparosa is warm and inviting — especially after a few tastings. Congratulations to Andy on producing such extraordinary wines and making a great career of it(in ADDITION to his accomplished career as a rocket engineer!) Can’t wait to return.

I have passed CHUPAROSAVINYARDS several time while riding my horses in the community. My friends were visiting from the city and we decided to check out the vineyard. We were greeted in a very friendly manner by the owners Andy and Carolyn. All of us were very happy with the caliber of their estate wines. Andy and Carolyn conversed with us in regards to their property, their wines, and their future plans for their business. We had a wonderful time. I am wishing for two things;(1) To return in the near future and(2) Lots of success for this couple and their very wonderful vineyard.

Fantastic!!! I was impressed by the amount of passion and effort that goes into each wine that is made by this humble wine maker. What a lovely winery with the best red wines!

On our way out another patron asked, which wine of theirs was our favorite. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of their wines. What a great intimate experience. It’s a husband and wife team that own the winery, tucked away in countryside Ramona. The wine is excellent, the owners are personable and knowledgable, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. We’ll be back.

Awesome little winery! Great wines but more importantly great owners who take the time to meet their customers. My family had spent a wonderful afternoon in the tasting room but there is an awesome patio for enjoying the Ramona weather which is often sunny even when down the hill is covered in clouds. Do yourself the favor of adding Chuparosa to your list of wineries to visit– you will not be disappointed!

Probably the BEST Rose‘ I have tasted. Chuparosa Vineyards was the first stop on a short wine tour in the Ramona area I took this month. From the moment we arrived and parked the car, we were treated as the most important people in the winery. We were met by the owners and made to feel welcome. We were given our choice of indoor or outdoor seating. As the weather was perfect, we sat on the front patio overlooking the vineyard. We were served several different wines, none white, as the grapes were not yet ready. All were very good. We were also served samples of desert pastries, also delicious. I highly recommend this little off the beaten path winery. Their their Sangiovese(they use a Brunello clone. You will not be disappointed.

Stopped by on our way to Riviera Oaks resort. We were greeted by Andy(the owner) inside the tasting room and got on with our tasting right away starting with their Rose which was good. We really liked the Sangiovese and ended up getting a couple of bottles. We had a good time overall. Oh yeah, we got the keep the tasting glass which was nice. Would’ve given 5 starts if they had food.

I was a little worried about going to Ramona Valley to wine taste, since a friend who also knows wines had tried several random wineries there and didn’t like any of them. We had better luck with our choices — I was pleasantly surprised by several wineries, including Chuparosa. Very good wines in a very comfy and friendly setting — you can sit inside in front of the fire or outside on their front patio. Standout wines: their Sangiovese(they use a Brunello clone, and it shows through the wine’s richness) and their dry Rosé. But all of their wines offered good to great QPR(quality-to-price ratio), and their tasting fee was fairly priced too(and credited towards our 2009 Sangiovese bottle purchase).

To date… my favorite winery in Ramona! Andy & Carolyn really seem to know what they’re doing and they do it very well! They’re happy to share their knowledge too! The tasting area is really nice and very comfortable… indoor and outdoor areas. Their tastings are very inexpensive and cost is applied to any purchase. Good location, great wine and wonderful owners! Will definately visit Chuparosa again!

GREAT wine!!! Pulled up to horses tied up on the tasting porch so I was a little skeptical but after meeting Andy & Carolyn… Amazing! Their wine is delicious! So far the best I’ve tasted in San Diego!

Sept 2013: This Vineyard and Winery are well worth the drive. Yes, the wine makers and owners(Carolyn and Andy) are there to greet you as well! There’s a great view of the vineyard from the tasting room. Lots of parking too. They even chill their reds a bit for tasting. Our favorite is their Zinfandel! Keep up the great work and we look forward to future vintages.

Chuparosa Winery is another example of something that is very exciting in Ramona. Really high quality wineries, that are interested in making really great wines. I have tasted many different Rose Wines, but I have never had one that had a lot of flavor until I tasted theirs. They also make a terrific Malbec and Sangiovese wine. No, they don’t have a really posh tasting room, but I would much rather the wine maker put their money in their wines instead., which is what they have done.
