Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. The beer and wine selection is great and the employees are always willing to help you find something. I just wish they had food trucks more often and better hours. I’ve gone all the way there so many times just to realize they were closed.

This place is such a gem! Walked in and was warmly greeted by Andrew. He was very friendly and informative and taught me a lot about wine. They also have a great selection of beers too. I love their bar area where you can hang out and enjoy a glass after work and they also have other tables in their second room for larger parties. Can’t wait to try their free wine tastings every Friday and Saturday and also their wine classes!

We went here last night to a French wine class. We got 3 oz pours of five different wines along with cheese pairings with each. That class was 90 minutes and was taught by one of their French wine distributors. The wine was great and pairings were delicious. The price for classes is good(15 dollars a person). They have a really nice bar to get beer on tap and glasses of wine. They have a huge selection of bottles to purchase. The store is clean and neat and there is a lot of room to move around. The staff was very helpful and offered their recommendations afterwards for wines. We will be back!

I love this place. The owners are such great guys. I would much rather go here and pay a few dollars more than the grocery store because they are so knowledgable and always help me pick out a beer or wine that I love. I’m just a sucker for a place where they remember your name :) the selection is awesome. I have yet to be disappointed.

Stopped by Wine 101 last Friday night before picking up some to go food nearby. The place was buzzing with folks enjoying beer & wine at the tasting bar. Seems like they get quite a few neighborhood folks in here. I was impressed that they had so many beers on draft I believe they have seven different taps. On Thursdays you can get a draft beer for $ 4 great deal with a really nice selection of beers. Fridays & Saturdays they have wine tastings. I happened to stop in right when the wine tasting was over which was a bummer but at least I know for next time. The wine tastings on Friday’s are from 5 to 7 and Saturdays 2 to 5pm. Check their events page online they do some other great tastings and wine flights throughout the week. This location is really convenient for me and I like the way the store is laid out. They have large displays with $ 20 and under whites and $ 20 and under reds. If you continue to the back of the store there is a magical beer room. The beer room is like a whole other store they offer a great selections of craft beers from all over the country and obviously local craft beers as well. The staff was really helpful, fun, and energetic. I ordered a glass of wine at the bar to sip while I was shopping. The wine was so good I ended up buying two bottle of it. My love of bottle shops continues. I love all the choices the Triangle now offers.

I was disappointed when Barley & Vine left this location. It was my go to spot for wine when I needed a recommendation for food pairing or I wanted to enjoy a glass with friends before having sushi next door at Waraji. Wine 101 moved in and I must say, I’m happy. It is their 2nd location in the Triangle(they have another store in Wake Forest). One half of the space is retail with a wide selection of wines and beers, the other is a bar with beers on tap and featured wines. The difference between the previous owners and Wine 101 is they offer wines from independent wineries, so you may not see ones familiar to you, but the staff at Wine 101 will steer you in the right direction. They offer free wine tastings(Fridays 5−7pm, Sat 2−5pm) and you can purchase a bottle from the tasting for 10% off. Best part is — they let you drink your newly purchased bottle at the bar with no corkage fee! That’s awesome — and easy on the pocketbook. I also attended a class 2 weeks ago featuring wines of Italy. The cost was $ 10, but we tasted 8 wines, they served food, and we walked away with a better grasp of Italian wines and the regions they come from. Looking forward to future classes. You can follow them on Facebook to stay in the loop.
