At my boyfriend’s dismay, I insisted we pop into this boutique when I was in Charlottesville visiting him about a week and a half ago. I was having a pretty run-of-the-mill retail experience there until I went to pay for my items(one dress, one romper, one necklace). The dress and romper were both around $ 50, and I had thought that the necklace was around $ 30. She rung me up and ran my credit card, and then I examined the receipt. The necklace was $ 68 — way more than what I was looking to spend. I told her that I changed my mind and no longer wanted it. She informed me that, since I had already been rung up, I was subject to the store’s return policy — only store credit within 7 days of purchase. I couldn’t believe it. Not only did no one attempt to inform me of this extremely strict policy prior to my purchase, but the clerk was unwilling to make an exception. I had purchased the necklace just seconds earlier. Even crappy stores like Forever 21 ensure you’re aware of their return policy PRIOR to making a purchase. I huffed off with the necklace. It was in no way worth $ 68 and I wish I could have returned it. As if I wasn’t already irritated enough, yesterday I was browsing through a clothing store in my hometown of DC(hands-down a far more expensive place than Charlottesville) and saw the same dress I had bought at the Impeccable Pig. Smugly, I examined the price tag, expecting to see a far higher price than the Impeccable Pig’s. It was $ 38 — $ 16 less than what I had purchased it for. I would avoid the Impeccable Pig. If you do intend to go, be knowledgeable of their return policy, and do your homework — make sure you can’t find the same item at another store(or online) for cheaper.

I have been in this store multiple times and not one friendly face greeted me or offered to help. After browsing through the polyester clothing and plastic jewelry I found a necklace I liked. I bought it, despite the fact I did not want to support the store– after wearing it a handful of times over one month period, the gold chain had turned to silver. I knew it wasnt real but $ 65+ for a necklace still isnt cheap. I brought it back into the store– one of the girls told me that was just standard for that kind of jewelry. No offer to exchange, no fake apology or sympathy… I will be sure to keep sharing this experience.

This little boutique in Cameron Village has a great selection of dresses and tops, and the service is wonderful. I love how as soon as you have one item to try on, a sales person asks you if you would like a dressing room started(even though this is not a high end store). The clothes are very reasonably priced and very well made. Also, they are unique. I bought a dress for a wedding and everyone commented on it about how much they loved it and how they wanted to know where I got it so they could get it too, but, they can’t because they don’t live in NC :) I will continue to come here for all my special occasion dress needs.
