Pizza had no taste and crust was hard and overlooked. The garlic knots had hardly any garlic taste. Placed order over phone… got it wrong. Think the place needs more management. Very disappointed.

I had a pizza and salad, thought the food was great. Emily was a great server and very a-tentative. Atmosphere was great, would defiantly go back again.

Had lunch here on a recent weekday. Husband suggested it for the lunch buffet that used to exist here(probably with previous owners)…anyway there was NO lunch buffet. They were a tad busy when we arrived, but were seated promptly with our choice of a booth versus table. Service was super friendly and apologetic for the wait times, due to getting even more busy. Fortunately, we weren’t in a hurry. Menu must be an all-day one, as pasta prices were in the $ 16 range(out of my range for lunch), but they did have sandwiches, pizza by the slice and salads. Husband chose a steak sandwich, while I went with the Chicken Capris sandwich. For a bit more I subbed salad for fries and it was a very fresh salad. They had even minused the cucumber seeds. I was especially grateful for the salad when after some time we were brought two steak sandwiches. Lovely, except I had ordered chicken. They handled it very well though, and within several minutes, I was rewarded for my patience with a very delicious juicy, grill-flavored chicken sandwich with fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, spinach and balsamic. Meanwhile, Husband was very much enjoying his hearty steak sandwich and fries. One of the true tests of a place, imho is the quality of leftovers, and I have to say the half of my chicken sandwich that I took with me was excellent leftover(although I ditched the bread and ate it with a fork… even better!)

I don’t know why I never really knew about this place for a good salad until recently. I always just thought it was a pizza place. My parents visited and wanted pizza, sooooo I reluctantly went but was super thankful I did. I mixed my own salad(you pick the lettuce and add ins). I was impressed with the freshness and availability of options. I think they need to play up this side of the business… people would really love this place if they knew!

I was hungry and tired after an 8hr travel day from Houston(had to connect through Charlotte). I decided to order GrubHub, as per my usual routine whenever I am just too lazy. It was also raining on and off, so why not just get delivery? The only good thing about this order was the pasta alla vodka and the garlic knots. The pasta had a hint of spicy red pepper, and the garlic knots were sturdy on the outside but soft on the inside. Both were DELICIOUS! Unfortunately, those were the only positives. Here are the negatives: –Requested plasticware but wasn’t included. Luckily the hotel had some. –My pasta was supposed to come with a small Caesar salad, but this also was not included in the order. –The mini cannoli was TERRIBLE. The shell was SOOOOO stale, the cannoli was inedible. –The order was 30 minutes later than the promised delivery time. GrubHub had to be contacted twice, and the restaurant had to be called once. The restaurant had thought the driver had already arrived! Alas, this was not the case. It’s funny how I forgot about the salad until just now after looking at the GrubHub email confirmation. I guess I was that tired after traveling! I’ve definitely experienced better service, so two stars it is! — Pasta Alla Vodka [Fettuccini, Add a Small Caesar Salad] $ 17.98 Garlic Knots $ 3.25 Mini Cannoli $ 1.99 Subtotal $ 23.22 Tax $ 1.77 Delivery Charge $ 2.00 Tip $ 2.70 TOTAL $ 29.69

Had I eaten there, ambiance and service might have bumped it up to three stars, but based strictly on food, Sam’s only earned two. In need of some comfort delivery food on a sick day, I looked up reviews for Sam’s and found a mixed bag of positive and negative experiences. I decided to take a chance and get the cheesesteak egg rolls(I’ve really been craving good ones lately) as well as the hot wings and a slice of plain pizza. The delivery took about one hour via grub hub, with no delivery fee. I have to be fair, I am a pizza snob and used to the NY-style food of the gods. Trying to be open minded, however, I still have to say this pizza was subpar. It’s a shame, if the crust hadn’t been so soggy, the sauce would have actually shone through on what could have been great pizza. But the floppy, blackish dough broke in half as soon as I lifted it up. The wings were OK. I prefer traditional, non-breaded and deep fried wings, but these had a thick crust. There was a mild option, but I ordered hot wings. It seems the real difference between the two is red pepper flakes. Overall, decent wings. The cheesesteak egg rolls, again, were OK. They seem to suffer from the same issue as the pizza in that the crust of the egg roll was soggy and soft when I was looking for a nice crunch to complement the cheesey, steaky goodness. They also opted for green pepper over fried onions, which I’m never crazy about. Given that the delivery options in Raleigh are limited, Sam’s did its job by feeding me, but I’ll be trying somewhere new next time around.

Pizza was really good but the staff is rude and shows terrible examples of customer service. They gave us the wrong pizza and proceeded to tell us that we were wrong and talked to us as though we were idiots.

I ordered the Manicotti and the 3 Layer Cale. Both were okay. The manicotti was stuffed enough with cheese and the marinara, specifically the tomatoes, tasted incredibly fresh. The Manicotti was good, very American-Italian and less than amazing, but not bad either. The garlic roll that came with it was almost dripping with oil… a bit too much for my taste, personally. However, the 3 Layer Cake was very disappointing. The slice was small, the bottom layer was thin and stale, the middle layer was relatable to thick dark chocolate pudding, and the top layer was such a thin coat of chocolate it was hardly there. The only reason I make a deal over this was that it was $ 5.99! Way too high for something so small and lacking originality.

Pizza and Food is above average But. Service offended me after waiting for service, lady passed me up many times while sitting out side today. She helped people to my left and right, people that sat after me… had to ask her if I could order. :(

I was skeptical to try this place because of its mediocre rating but I was very much satisfied! Don’t expect it to be some fancy, candle-lit, romantic Italian restaurant and you’ll be impressed~ We decided to eat there(before watching mad max, woohooo) but I noticed that a lot of people just do takeout. Anyhow, the ambience is casual but the place itself is spacious, cute, and clean! Our server was friendly and took care of us very well. We were in a hurry to get good seats for the movie so we asked him to bring out the check and some to-go boxes as we continued to eat. He did so very quickly but still made sure our drinks were full and what not. The grandma style pizza was delicious– it’s a thin pizza so I could definitely taste all the flavor. The buffalo chicken egg rolls were so delicious! They definitely packed in a whole lot of chicken into each roll which made me happy~ They have a huge menu– they’ve got plenty of salads, calzones, pizzas, and pastas to choose from. Overall, this place is a great place to go to have casual meals and large groups!

Pleasantly surprised by the food here. I’m from NY so I have a special mandate to judge pizza. Most pizza in this area uses an insufferably sweet sauce that makes the pizza almost unbearable. Sam’s pizza has a thin crust that you can easily fold with one hand while simultaneously driving and flipping the bird at the terrible drivers in NC(one of the criteria for good pizza where I come from). The sauce is on-point and not sweet at all. Highly recommended for all pizza connoisseurs in the area. Great beer selection as well. Good playlist of frank Sinatra to put the finishing touches on a good dining experience. Would go out of my way to visit Sam’s.

The pizza was terrific. Best crust I’ve had in a very long time. Reminded me of the pizza my grandfather’s restaurant in NY used to make. Can’t beat foldable slices! We loved the garlic knots too. Not sure why other reviews complained about service. We were greeted upon entering, seated quickly, had an attentive and friendly server, and were thanked as we left. I’ve been to many higher end places that could take a lesson from the staff at Sam’s. Now the negative — there’s no Sam’s near Charlotte! I’ll only get to have the best pizza I’ve tasted in NC when I visit my kid at NCSU.

Bah. I was really hoping to like this place to. But nope. Not at all. You know it’s bad when the whole time you’re eating your $ 9 slightly wilted salad and all you can think is «Man…I could be eating Lily’s right now… That would be so good… And the same price too… Man…Why am I here?» My chef salad was definitely not in the top of my salad list… Not even near the middle. More like right above the chef salads they gave out in highschool. The turkey wasn’t fresh nor were the bacon bits(didn’t taste like real bacon either) and the veggies were seriously lacking(there were apples on it though… so yay?). Granted their ranch was pretty good, but girl cannot live on dressings alone… Then to add insult to injury they forgot my friend’s order alltogether. The whole time I was eating she was waiting patiently for her own wondering what was taking it so long. Finally I went up and asked about it and the guy at the counter admited it was forgotten about. Instead of an apology it was«Oh don’t worry it’s a fast salad to make!». Maybe pizza is Sam’s saving grace… I’ll probably never know because I really feel no need to try this place again after the lackluster food and forgetful service… I’ll just stick to what I know and drive a few more miles for Lily’s…I know i’m safe there.

I have walked by this place since it opened because I’m usually in a rush to get to a movie, but we planned ahead to try it out today! We got drinks, mozzarella sticks, calamari along with kids pasta, a chef salad, and 2 slices of pizza for 3 adults. It was more than enough all around. The employees were very nice and accommodating, but it seems like there is tension between some people behind the counter. A few tvs and a good beer selection. Nothing amazing, but nothing bad. Pretty good price for the location especially because North Hills is more fancy shmancy. The sauce is standard and savory, but the mozzarella sticks which are actually large triangles had a heavy corn meal grit flavor to them that I wasn’t extremely fond of. The calamari was really yummy and my husband and bestie loved it. Everything else was fairly good and I would probably come back to grab a slice of pizza or something, but it’s just okay for me and nothing to write home about. I would a still pick it over fox & hound though!

Delicious. Big salad, huge glass of wine for $ 6, and good pizza by the slice. We got our food fast. What more could you want? Good tunes, sports on tv, and a comfy atmosphere? They’ve got that too. We will be back. But only on the weekend because mama can’t handle this much wine and make it to work the next day!

Woman behind the counter was very unfriendly/unwelcoming. I had stated it was my first time there and she didn’t give any suggestions. We ordered pizza and salad, which were very good. Tables were dirty, and we send back 5 dishes(2 tries) because they were DIRTY. Not sure if I would go back.

I’ve been here numerous time since it opened, mainly because my family really likes the grandma pizza. It is quite good, but only if it’s fresh. The crust is cracker thin, and even after the short drive home the sauce and oil has soaked through making the crush soggy. The pizza is very oily, but the sauce and basil is good on it. The sauce is the thing I like most, it’s not sweet like a lot of other restaurants — it tastes very«authentic.» The chicken parmesan sandwich is decent, I’ve had it twice now but probably wouldn’t order again. I don’t think the bread they’re using really goes with the flavor. The fried ravioli is very good. My main reason for this review: the service. It’s awful. It’s mainly girls working, and they are all incredibly rude. Once I was standing by the register to order while the girl ignored me, before finally asking rudely if I needed help with something. Um, yes, this is where I’m supposed to order and I’m holding a menu. I feel like she should have acknowledged that I was standing there before it got awkward. Another time a different girl acted annoyed while I ordered and then forgot our salad(being the second time this happened.) She stood around playing on her phone while I saw our pizza sitting there(I know it was ours, we were the only people dining.) They never check on you, and they don’t act friendly at all. I will return, mainly because it’s convenient and the pizza is decent. But the employees need an attitude adjustment and someone needs to train them to be hospitable.

I used to go here when it was Cinelli’s & at first was pretty sad they sold their restaurant. I went to try the new Sam’s with an open mind, & though it’s more casual than it used to be, it still has the same staff and the sandwiches and salads are super yummy! I’ll be back :)

Yummy addition to North Hill Mall area in Raleigh NC area. Not sure why posting says Garner NC… that’s totally wrong. Grandma style pizza is well seasoned and great on a rainy afternoon.
