I do appreciate that the owner took the time to respond. However, let me summarize: «We did not understand/like the bargain we made with Groupon. We had some customers who used Groupons and were unpleasant about following our salon policies. Therefore, we decided it was okay to be dismissive of any customer who made the mistake of buying a discounted package to try our salon for the first time.» Sorry darling. I appreciate the time you took to respond, but no. Discriminating against all Groupon users just because a few were(admittedly) jerks is just not good business. I understand you’re over working with them(I get it — I’ve heard they can be pushy/hard to work with and I am extremely nice and tip even higher than usual when I use one because I don’t want to perpetrate the impression that all discount users are cheapskate losers who are gaming the system). In Houston, the local salons do super-cheap mani-pedi combos to attract business. .. if I felt for a second that I was getting worse service(being denied a walk-in appointment in an obviously empty salon, getting the runaround when trying to make an appointment) just because I decided to try a new place with the awesome special they authorized(and advertised), I would be outraged. Offering a special and not honoring it — sounds a bit like bait and switch, no? Every customer is a new chance to make an impression. By all means, penalize the customers who disrespect your time by blowing off their appointments. But penalizing everyone using a discount? Perhaps you have forgotten that in this poor economy you are providing a luxury service that nobody actually needs? Especially as a provider of a luxury service(with super-high markup vs actual material cost to you), you have to suck it up and follow rule #1 — be nice.

Like Vera P., I responded to an ad for booth rental at this business. I was looking for a North Raleigh site to expand my established personal service business, and had a very good idea of the options available to me in other locations. I was re-scheduled several times, and finally met by a woman who seemed to have much more important things to do than discuss the rental space I had called about. She was nearly 30 minutes late(I busied myself by visiting another business in the same development), and so rude that I really was finished before I even saw the space. Looking at the space, it was clear that my business did not belong here. It was dark, not especially clean, with outdated décor in the reception area. I was told that they were very busy with clients they could refer to me, and that their rent was the best in the area. During the early afternoon hour that I spent there(30 min wait+30 min tour), no-one came in or called, so I doubt the first claim. Since I found a larger, cleaner, newer space in the development next door, I know that the second claim was false. Since my inquiry, I’ve noticed that this place always has an ad posted, and after my experience, I can see why. I cannot imagine that a client visit would be any more agreeable.
