GG Fish & Chicken Restaurant

I have gotten the chicken wings a couple of times. The 1^st time they were over done, next time was better. They need to have some sauces available besides hot sauce. But are they even still open? Last 2 times they were closed and no sign they were out of business.

Didn’t really love anything we tried. Catfish and popcorn shrimp seemed a little under-​fried, while the mushrooms were definitely overcooked. Green beans and coleslaw were completely boring. Hushpuppies were pretty good. Nothing was bad, but I’d rather go to Lee’s Kitchen or Seven Cities.

G G’s fish and chicken is a Big Greasy don’t pass go don’t stop by this place, just keep on going. Now I have seen it advertised and wanted to try it but my wife beat me to it and brought home some fish and chicken both were absolutely horrible the chicken taste like it was fried in old oil and the fish had no taste whatsoever other than the fact that it tastes like cardboard. Sorry G G’s you won’t see me again! :-(

Just okay I was a bit disappointed the sides are horrible!, The fish is pretty good! They need to do some serious housing cleaning the floors were dirty the door was dirty as well and the Tables were you sit were dirty and it wasn’t all that busy so they could clean. I tried it there grade was I think 91, they give you a good portion, It was just okay. I have herad the ads on the radio I expect so much more!

Don’t go here — the fish had bones in it and the skin was still on. I asked for lemon wedges — they handed me lemon juice in a take-​away container. (Imagine that — a fish restaurant without lemons.)
Besides that, the floor was so covered with grime my shoes stuck to the floor.

Quick and easy fried seafood & wings. I usually go for the fried catfish platter with potato salad and green beans. It’s the type of food that’s really hard to screw up.
The serving of fish is quite large, and the potato salad is very good. The green beans are just your basic canned beans with some seasoning. The lemonade is the bomb. Freshly made with fine-​crushed ice, almost like a slushy.
If you like fried food and don’t mind eating on Styrofoam, this is your place.

I stopped here because I saw somebody’s Instagram picture of 10 wings for $ 5.99. I was like, that is an AWESOME DEAL! With a price like that, I had to go check it out. I pulled in one evening, and I was the only customer there. I hate going to places where there are no other customers. When I walked in, the cook was sitting in the dining room watching TV, and the cashier was about to start sweeping. After the cashier swept some, he came and took my order. I don’t know why he left me standing at the counter for a minute. So I placed my order, and paid for it, and the cashier wrote the ticket and set it in the window for the cook. After he did that, and a commercial came on, the cook decided to get up and see what I ordered.
I only ordered 10 wings, no fries, or nothing else. I have to say, I was really, really disappointed in the wings. I honestly didn’t feel like eating them all. The wings were overcooked. I really don’t know how they overcooked the wings, since I was the only customer. Oh yeah, the cook kept coming back out to watch TV as she was cooking. Plus the grease was old, so it reflected in the taste. If you like hot sauce, bring your own. They have some hot sauce that taste and looks like it was mixed with duck sauce.
I might try them again when they are busy. But they need to step up their game.

GG Fish and Chicken is really awesome. The head guy comes from another spot in Durham called JJs Fish and Chicken. He was there when JJs was off the chains. Now he has moved to Raleigh and has an establishment here in Raleigh. Th spot is great and the food is out of this world. The proportions are big and the price is right. The service is amazing. I would run someone over for one of their chicken phillies!!! Try them out!
