It dawned on me that I never wrote a review for this place. Which I think was my subconscious trying to not post the fact that I went here twice in a week span… after eating out for a month straight. Anyways, this place is awesome. I came with a friend who was visiting while I was in NC and we split an order of fried chicken and a bunch of sides. The sides were all pretty good, but it’s been a while since I actually ate there and I can’t remember what they were and plus, really I can’t remember anything other than the chicken. You have your choice of white or dark meat, and we got white… because it’s «healthier»(which is funny bc if we wanted healthy we probably shouldn’t have been eating fried chicken). When it came out and we were cutting it to split it my friend said«DUDETHISCHICKENISCUTTINGWITH A BUTTERKNIFE». That’s how tender and juicy it was. I was only in town for another week after initially going here and while I was stuffed from eating out for a month, I just couldn’t resist coming again before going. While I was waiting for my food the second time a mother and son were debating if they should order the chicken and if they should get white or dark. I don’t normally intervene in people’s conversations but I had to. It would’ve been a tragedy to humanity for them to not get it(though I wonder why you go to a place called chicken & honey and not order chicken, but anyways…) Mid way through their meal they stopped to thank me. No no… thank YOU Beasley’s.

As always with Ashley Christensen restaurants, there is extremely delicious food to be had. Super crispy chicken, mega delicious and flavorful chicken pot pie, and to-die-for sides(love the pimento mac and cheese, collard greens are phenomenal, and my ultimate weakness is their fluffy, buttery biscuits). Brunch = SOMUCHDROOLING(do yourself a favor and go order some of their churros, you’ll thank me later). Service there is nice enough, if sometimes a little stiff and awkward.

Loud, uncomfortable, cramped, overpriced! Small metal stools for seating, menus on the wall, $ 15 for a piece of chicken on a waffle!

This place is a must. The best chicken I’ve ever had and the Mac and cheese is to die for. Not to mention the service was great.

Not your average chicken joint! This was my first time in this place. It’s a pretty chill atmosphere. And they don’t have menus. Anything you want to order is written on the chalkboard wall. Lets get to th good stuff, the food. I ordered the chicken biscuit, mixed greens and the mac and cheese custard. Lets talk about the mac and cheese custard. Apparently it’s caled custard bc it has egg in it but where I come from mac and cheese is made with egf and milk so it’s just regular olé mac and cheese to me. It has pimento in it but the pimento isn’t over powering, in fact, i couldn’t taste it at all. Needless to say, the mac and cheese was good and I will get it when I return. The chicken is fried perfectly and is seasoned well. My chicken biscuit was huge, I had to eat the rest of it for breakfast the next morning. I love how the drizzle every piece of chicken with local honey. I wasnt a fan of the dijon mustard nor the green tomato on the biscuit. It just didn’t do it for me. Overall a great experience and I will be back. I’m also looking forward to trying their burger joint next door.

Hubs and I were curious to see if the hype was true or not about those chicken and waffles! We split an order of the chicken and waffles, Mac and cheese and had a few Moscow mules. Chicken and waffles were right on the money. The fried chicken was fresh, juicy, crunchy and seasoned just right, the waffle nice and airy. Mac and cheese was off the hook! If you like ginger, order the Moscow mule. Oh my word I loved it! It packs a fresh ginger punch. I cleared all my sinuses while catching a buzz! Also, we sat at the bar and the girl behind the counter was so sweet! *Two thumbs up* experience, food and booze!

While driving around Raleigh after the snow storm looking for food we found this place open. They have a really good brunch menu and the chix and waffle are very good the buttermilk biscuits are very good also with a honey butter. M/law had meat loaf it looked good, I would love to come back and try something else.

Fried chicken and waffles is one of weirdest, yet greatest food combinations ever made and Beasley’s does it really well. The fried chicken is so crispy and the seasoning in the coating is so good. It really isn’t your average fried chicken, and when drizzled with their honey syrup sauce, it’s the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and savory. It’s almost a must to get the combo with the waffle. The waffle is light and fluffy, and does great to contrast the crispiness of the fried chicken. Just cover everything in that honey sauce and you’ll be good to go. They also do a pretty good job with their sides too. I’ve tried their mac n cheese, and sweet potato sides and both were delicious. The sweet potato sides go great with the honey sauce as well. Overall, Beasley’s has great fried chicken and waffles. My only complaint would be that it is pricey($ 15 for quarter chicken and waffles plus $ 3 for a side), but you are getting some amazing fried chicken and waffles with a delicious honey sauce. It’s definitely worth trying at least once and you won’t be dissappointed with the way the food tastes.

Great atmosphere. We sat @ the bar which is nice. The tables are set up «family» style so conducive to large groups. I had chicken biscuit sandwich with fried green tomatoes. Nice tangy/salty combination. Honey sweet potatoes were a yummy side. Lots of local NC beers & interesting cocktails. Soft drinks are«old school». No fountain sodas.

My family came here for Sunday brunch at 1pm and there was still a crowd and waited 20 minutes, which was not bad as there are many stores around to explore. Service: The server was extremely nice and patient. Food: We ordered REDBEANRANCHEROS, EGGSON A ROLL, and the famous CHICKENWAFFLE. All of them were delicious. The red bean rancheros’ crunchy chips stayed crunchy throughout the entire dish and all the toppings work very well together. Chicken waffle is even more delicious than the other famous ones I have had around the triangle, maybe because of the honey instead of syrup. Price: Most brunch items are under $ 10 and the portion is quite large/filling. Parking: Free parking lot right beside Beasley on the weekend! I would definitely return again to try the macaroni square

I should have ordered the chicken pot pie. And I have no idea when I’ll be back in the area so I may go a long, long time without ever fulfilling that dream. Instead, I had the chicken and waffles, as I figured that had to be the way to go. It did not disappoint, of course. How could it? But that pot pie… The décor is wonderful and I liked the laid-back atmosphere. If this is a taste of what Raleigh has to offer, then I can see why so many friends of mine have settled down in Raleigh. Amazing!

Since I consider myself«new to the area», I enjoy finding cool spots to eat. I loved the fact that we were able to park for free(in a parking deck), so that was an immediate plus. Once we arrived, I figured we’d have to wait at least 30 minutes. There were a lot of people standing outside. To my surprise, the hostess told us that there were 2 seats becoming available at the bar… so we didn’t pass that up. Once we sat down, it was a little tough to decide what to eat. We both opted for chicken and waffles. We also ordered green cabbage coleslaw and macaroni and cheese. WOW! All of it was great! I would definitely go back. Not to mention we had a great bartender. I dig the vibe of the place andddd the food was great. What more can you ask for?

If your looking for southern cooking now downtown, this is the place! A no Frills, laid back place where the menus are on chalkboards above your heads and you. Service was efficient, but the seating was not the most comfortable. Food was great, had the fried chicken and waffles with Mac and cheese!

In Raleigh last weekend for a little Clemson Football! After celebrating our win(sorry Wolfpack) we made our way to brunch at Beasley’s Chicken & Honey on Sunday morning around 11:45 am. We knew this place must be good, because there was a line around the block. We waited outside nearly an hour to be seated, and finally, our party was called! The inside of the space is obviously super Southern and super cute. Exposed brick and some industrial metal tables and chairs had a great vibe. Two minor complaints, the chairs were stools, so not super comfortable for a long brunch. Also, the menu is only written on a chalk board wall in the back of the restaurant that was obscured by the duct work from where we were sitting. Minor inconvenience but we just used our phones to read the menu. I ordered the chicken and waffles($ 13) and the pimento mac and cheese custard($ 3.50). $ 16.50 is a bit steep for breakfast, but it was all very good and the portions were substantial. The sweet honey on the crispy and lightly fried chicken was divine. It was not greasy one bit and was probably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. The waffle was pretty basic. Nothing extraordinary, but it’s hard to go wrong with a waffle! Another minor disappointment was that they do not have pitchers of mimosas, which I feel should be a brunch essential. Our waitress was friendly and efficient, but we did wait a while for our food(close to another hour). Don’t come here for brunch if you’re in any hurry or already hungry what-so-ever. Was it worth the wait? Probably not. But we were there with good friends and the time didn’t pass but so slowly. I would certainly return again for just the chicken, but only if it was less crowded. Synopsis: AMAZINGCHICKEN. LONGWAIT.

I love ANY restaurant that involves ANY element of southern food. Did I say ANY?! Since moving to Maryland, I rarely get to enjoy southern food anymore, unless I’m cooking… and these days I prefer other people to cook for me! I think the concept of this restaurant definitely came from a chef and I was able to find something I liked and I would come back number one for this fried chicken! But I would also return to try something else on the menu! Disclaimer: If you are expecting soul food… this is NOT. It’s inspired by southern cuisines, but this is NOT soul food, so I think it would be unfair to judge it as so. I’m calling it southern food with a twist. I turn to my trusty Unilocal app to help me find good food places at home, and whenever I travel. My fellow Unilocalers rarely disappoint. So I was in NC visiting my sister last weekend, and on Sunday afternoon we checked out this restaurant. She had heard good things about it, and despite the obvious long wait we were able to walk right in a grab two seats at the bar! It’s pretty loud inside, but honestly I’m there for the food… table or bar… doesn’t matter! Another twist: the menu is written in chalk menus on the wall… so you have to do a high chin stare around the place to figure out what you want to eat. I think that is an original concept, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in a Raleigh restaurant, so kudos to them for that. But honestly, I would prefer a menu with some descriptions. #justsayin My sister and I both ordered the Chicken & Waffles. There are not many places I can get chicken & waffles, so we were confident that this would be a winner! We ordered the Buttermilk Biscuits, which were served in triangles drizzled in honey! Along with our Chicken & Waffles, we ordered three sides to share: Beauregard Sweet Potatoes drizzled in honey(notice a concept?!), Mac-n-cheese custard with pimentos and creamed collard greens. My favorites were the fried chicken, the sweet potatoes and the buttermilk biscuits and of course the mimosa that I had alongside everything. The sweet potatoes are served skin on, and they were tasty but I’m not about that skin-on life. My sister loved the creamed collard greens, but for me one taste was enough to know that the collards were not allowed to shine in that dish. The mac-n-cheese custard… was interesting, and we ended up liking it! The waffle was not anything special on it’s own… but covered in syrup and that chicken fat haha… I finished that thing! BANGING! Now comes the point where they lose a star… we tried the banana pudding. Now both my sister and I didn’t know what to expect, but I’m always willing to try something new. So I will start by saying that the presentation of the banana pudding was excellent. It was nice and light and whipped, but it didn’t have one ounce of banana flavor? It was like a sweet whipped creamy dessert with crushed up crackers and sliced bananas, but the custard part was lacking in flavor. So we didn’t finish it. They were gracious enough to remove it from our tab, but I definitely expected at minimum banana flavor. So overall, I enjoyed my meal. I did not leave hungry. I would return again when I come back to visit my sister and definitely give this restaurant another try. It’s a safe pick. And as I like to say«I’ll BEBACK!!! *in my terminator voice*

Was it in the way That I caressed your crispy exterior as I drew you closer to my mouth? Was it in the way That you were deceptively sweet — a bit of honey in every tantalizing bite? Was it in the way That a touch of milk, butter and cream made your collard greens so wonderful? Was it in the way That you’ve made me re-think eating custard that isn’t made of Mac and Cheese? If I’m ever so lucky To have fate bring us together again I’ll be having seconds

Oh. My. Perfectly cooked, juicy and crispy chicken served on a waffle. Drizzled with honey. Creamy, crunchy Coke slaw. A nice bitter Old Fashioned. I think I have died and gone to heaven. Menu is up on the chalk board wall. It all looks good. Happiness.

Ho yeah. Some no-frills fried chicken that came highly touted among my Raleigh friends. We came in for a late lunch on a cold, rainy day, and the waitress saw that we were noticeably hungry, and gave us some good recommendations. The décor of the place is very bare, with some metal chairs, wooden tables, and a long wooden bar with stools. They seemed to have a very good selection of cocktails and beers, but given that still relatively early, we decided against getting drinks. We ended up getting the quarter chicken, a side of mac and cheese«custard,» the creamed collard greens, and the chicken pot pie. I knew that Beasley’s was known for the chicken and waffles, but I was feeling something savory, and went for the sides instead. The fried chicken(thigh and leg) was pretty bomb, and the crispy coating was just the right temperature and texture. The mac & cheese custard had the consistency of baked mac & cheese, and was made with pimento cheese, which had a bit of sweetness. So rich, and so delicious. Creamed collard greens were very good, although the cream didn’t really make me feel better about eating greens, ha. The chicken pot pie was made a bit different than I’m used to, but was delicious nonetheless. It had plenty of chicken, but I just wish there had been a little more puff pastry on top. As a result, it just kinda became like soup in the end, which was fine, because it was delicious, but just needed some more carbs, ha. Prices were very reasonable, and the service was very efficient, polite and attentive(as should be expected in North Carolina). Definitely one of the better fried chicken places I’ve been to, and while there isn’t much more to the menu than the sides and the fried chicken and waffles, they really do the chicken well, so you can’t really ask for more. Definitely will be back the next time I’m in Raleigh, and hopefully we’ll be able to try the drink menu.

Location: this place is in downtown Raleigh. Not really hard to find a parking lot, I ended up park my car right beside this place. But the parking costs me 2 dollars. Well, it’s downtown. Food: when I first came in, the hostess was very nice and lead me to my seat. Both hostess and waitress reminded me that the menu was on the wall and everything –food– was on the wall. So if you have a pretty good eye sight, it’s a very interesting way to look for what you want. I ended up with chicken pot pie with beloved Mac &cheese. So I have to say, chicken pot pie is delish! So far the best chicken pot pie I have ever had. Creamy, textured, and seasoned! Although I heard a lot of good things about Mac and cheese, I was not enjoyed much. Part of reason could be the fact that I have never enjoyed Mac and cheese. And it’s well seasoned I thought. Service: busy waitress who is trying to balance the quality of each customer but failed to do so. However, I did appreciate the patience they gave to me when I had no idea what I should order Overall: I have been longing for this place in a while. And it’s worth 30 mins drive traveling from chapel hill to Raleigh. I enjoyed and loved it every bite. Thanks, and ciao Carolina.
