Solomon’s Collection & Fine Rugs

My husband and I purchased one of the most magnificent rugs we have ever seen today from Solomon and his wife. The selection is quite wide, and the quality ranges from excellent to superb. My husband and I had been repeatedly disappointed and discouraged as we looked at mediocre to «okay» rugs in one store after another. Seeing the beauty and the quality of the rugs at Solomon’s was a breath of fresh air. So was meeting Solomon and his wife, who are as knowledgeable, warm-​hearted, caring and cultured a couple as you could hope to meet. Sadly, they will be closing the store at the end of 2016 for personal reasons. The only silver lining is that their beautiful rugs are now available at sale prices. If you are looking for a truly fine-​quality rug, you can’t do better than to visit Solomon’s and get advice from the extremely knowledgeable, honest and customer service oriented owners.

Buying your first persian rug can be a daunting task. You have heard that a good hand-​woven persian rug is high in quality and will last for generations but the price is definitely not cheap. There are so many designs, sizes, historical patterns, and qualities to choose from. This can definitely confuse a first time buyer. Mr. Solomon is really helpful in helping us to choose the rug we want. He is definitely very knowledgeable and answer all of our questions really well. He is a very friendly guy and not an intimidating seller who likes to push customers to buy something that they don’t want. Don’t be afraid to ask him questions.
Unlike buying on-​line, one nice thing about buying persian rug in a local business store like Solomon’s rug is you can touch and feel the rug itself. You can count the number of knots per square inch there and see those beautiful designs live. Comparing price ranges between one store and another is a bit tricky because most hand-​woven rug is usually one of a kind. However, if you don’t have specific style in mind and only want to compare design (e.g. bidjar, hamedan, meymeh, etc) with specific size, you can try to compare on-​sale prices with upper scale commercial stores like Bloomingdale’s. Solomon’s on-sale’s price is competitive with Bloomingdale’s on-​sale price.

I love going to Solomon’s. The selection is fantastic and beautiful. The people in the store are wonderful and so helpful. It is a pleasure just talking with Solomon learning about the rugs and everything else. He really cares about his customers as people. I bought my big living room rung there a few years ago and have gone back to buy a smaller rug and will continue shop there whenever I need a rug. I always leave the store feeling happy. I HIGHLY recommend them!

This place is a wonderful gem and my go-​to source for unique and beautiful rugs. I really appreciate the no-​pressure sales and laid back atmosphere. Solomon himself is usually there and is always willing to spend time with customers answering questions and explaining the differences in rug types, weaves etc.
My dreams are big, but my budget is humble and I’ve still managed to score some beautiful and affordable rugs, and I love that the pieces I’ve purchased are one of a kind (e.g. not something that everyone recognizes from a chain store). They have other cool stuff like big rug pillows and smaller accents.
Bonus points that it’s an easy walk from the T (Wollaston) and they can deliver and/​or ship!
