I found Dr Tao Xie to be arrogant and rude! His attitude is «I’m the doctor, and you are the patient so do as I say». Whenever I asked a question the answer I received was«I do this for 30yrs». I would like to point out that I never asked him how long he had been practicing. It was as if he felt I was challenging his knowledge; when in reality I was trying to educate myself and feel empowered by my decision to use acupuncture and herbs. I know that in the Chinese culture that the«I’m the doctor» attitude is very common. I also realize that women are not respected in the same manner as men. Realizing those cultural differences I did find a way to manipulate Dr Xie to finally answer some of my questions. When I started my questions with«My husband wants to know…» I would receive the answers to my questions. Patients should not feel that they need to manipulate a practitioner to communicate with them in an appropriate manner. I read the last review of Dr Xie and feel compelled to comment on the fact that he is on the staff at the Pathways to Wellness. In no way do I doubt Dr Xie’s knowledge as an herbalist or as an acupuncturist. However, it takes more than just knowledge to make a good practitioner. Haven’t we all had professors in school who are very knowledgeable in their fields yet completely unapproachable? Acupuncture is about healing. Unapproachable healer? Seems like an oxymoron to me.
