I was doing my pedicure and manicure, just finished my pedicure, then two guys came in and looking for half hour massage, she asked me wait for her and she will come back finish the rest. I was sitting on massage chair(feels good), so I told her is fine. After 25 mins, she came out with the guy and I saw the guy gave her $ 40 for tips… so I give up my pedicure and left. Anyway she did the good job but I don’t want to let her touch me, even I am not sure what she did…

Paid $ 80 for an hour worst massage of my life. She was talking the first 20mins of my massage & she was very rough & hard with her hands. I wanted to leave halfway through the massage. Then she burned me with the hot stones and left welts on my back when I left, worst experience of my life will never go back. Painful & most uncomfortable massage ever !

This is one of the worst places you will ever receive a massage. The lady answered the phone with one hand while rubbing my back and doing my massage with the other. She left the door open during my massage(I was naked), so that she could greet walk-in customers during my massage — which was interrupted multiple times. I eventually asked her to end the massage and left early — I will never go back.

It’s easy to walk right past this place, with its small storefront and unassuming exterior. But inside is Mary, a miracle worker with magic hands. This is a true hidden gem. I had pulled muscles that made bending my left knee excrutiangly painful; in one visit the pain was gone. I’ll need a couple of follow up maintenance visits, but to be relieved of the pain is wonderful. Mary is well versed in many different styles of massage. Her background in anatomy, physiology and traditional chinese medicine is extremely helpful. This place does many different styles of massage, but medical massage is its true strength.

After relocating to Tha Q’ from Southie, I was in the market to find a new eyebrow waxing and pedicure on a Saturday type of place. I drove past this not so aesthetically appealing place on the way to the grocery store a few times and I decided to go in and check it out. I mean, none of these places ever really look too fabu from the outside. Besides, my eyebrows were unruly and I was getting desperate. When I went inside I was greeted warmly by Mary and taken into the waxing room right away. Ah, the waxing room. A necessary evil. There was some relaxing music playing from a CD player in the corner and the typical tables to lay on. Mary took special care to only clean up my already thin eyebrows and was very particular about tweezing after waxing and then rubbing some soothing oil on my sore skin. My eyebrows came out perfect. I found a new eyebrow lady! Thank goodness! Now my unhealthy obsession with eyebrow perfection can continue. Excellent. I also went back this weekend for another waxing and a spa pedicure. While the pedicure price was listed at $ 30, Mary let me know that the price sheet was wrong and the actual price was $ 45. I told her I couldn’t spend that much and that I would just go with the regular pedicure but she insisted on letting me have the spa pedicure for the price it was listed at anyway. The pedicure was wonderful. About ten minutes worth of leg and foot massage, an exfoliating rub, and a seaweed masque that was left on for 5 minutes and then peeled off to reveal glowing soft legs. Loved it. My polish was perfectly applied and shiny as could be. I’d almost be willing to pay $ 45 next time. Thanks Mary :). See you soon!

Went to Mary’s Spa 7÷2÷2010 to get a facial. To my surprise, they are having a limited time special for $ 36(reg price is $ 60). I usually go to the place up the street but they were busy and charge $ 70 anyways. Mary took the time to explain step-by-step process of how the massage facial was going to work. She also recommended on how to keep my face clear & healthy looking. Mary made sure that I was comfortable which is #1 with me; seeing as though that was my first time there. Mary did not«dig» into my face as others may do @ salons. She was very gentle with the facial tool(s). One thing that shocked me(literally) was this facial«zapper» that she used. She explained that the«zapper» will/take away any bacteria that may have built up under my skin. The massage facial takes an hour. She massages creames, special Chinese scrubs and a nice soothing mask w/music to help you relax. Though there was a little bit of nose outside of the doors; nevertheless it was still very relaxing once the mask was placed on & the music chimed everything out. Now although my skin is not TERRIBLE, it is good sometimes to get a facial to clear pores, relief of those store products and get a good geniune scrub in spots that you may not be able to see in your home mirror. I WASVERYPLEASED, felt relaxed and left with a fresh face. Some salons leave your face either too dry or too oily; your skin VERY red, disturbed and I’ve even left with headaches sometimes. But not at Mary’s! I’ll follow up with another facial in a month or so. I am also considering the massage therapy for back pains due to previous reviews.

Functional… that is how I would describe the massage at Mary’s. There is no new age feel or spa-like ambience here. They do pipe music into the background but their focus is really on providing healing services deeply rooted in chinese medicine. The massage is more therapeutic(I assume this is the type of massage a professional athlete would get.) than relaxing, although I was very relaxed for my massage. The noise level can be intrusive as you are getting your massage but as I said, this is not a spa. The therapist was a middle-aged man dressed in scrubs, and he just got right down to business. I had been experiencing some bad neck and shoulder pains(mostly stress related…) and he did wonders. The massage was focused on hitting key meridian points and getting rid of blocked energy. There were muscles that he worked on that I did not even know were tight. I was instructed to not have any cold drinks for at least two hours afterwards; otherwise, the moving energy would completely freeze up again and the pain would be worse than before. So how did I feel the day after? Fantastic! My neck and shoulder pain is significantly reduced(not completely gone but my shoulders and neck were hard as rocks when I went in) and my muscles are much looser. I highly recommend this place if you really only care about getting a massage that is more than just about the ambience. Prices are not cheap(1 hour for $ 70) but worth the therapy. Giving 3 stars because I’ve only been once and will need to see if it is consistent. Also, the therapist I had barely spoke English but the owners do so they will help relay your concerns to the therapist. They also offer acupuncture, thai massage, reflexology, and a host of other healing services. Seems like the bulk of the therapist were trained in China. I should mention that the space is connected to the nail/facial place next door, which is under the same ownership. That is called Mary’s Spa(actually not a spa either… now that I think of it.)
