Came to this salon to fix my haircut that another stylist from another salon butchered. Karina did my hair and I love it! I rated this salon with 3 stars because after I finished my hair I tried use the Unilocal 10% discount when you check in, and the woman at the front said we can’t use that. Then she asked Xiomara if they can use it and she said no its not offered anymore. If I couldn’t use the discount why would it still be on the Unilocal app for this salon?!

I was referred to this salon by a friend. I had been planning on getting a haircut and changing my hair color for a while now so I was in the process of looking into finding a good salon. My friend mentioned Yvlisse Salon to me at dinner last week and so I decided to head on in after she shared her positive experience. She told me to see Yosie and after calling the salon on Thursday at which point I was told that yes, Yosie would be there on Friday morning(which was when I wanted to go in). So I decided to wake up extra early on Friday morning(even though I start work in the afternoons on Fridays) and head on over to the salon. Unfortunately, it all only went downhill from there. I arrived at 8:30AM(the salon opens at 8AM) and was told that Yosie was on her way. At around 8:45, one of the hairdressers gave me her cellphone and it turned out to be Yosie on the other end who said she was still at home and to give her a maximum of 30 minutes to get to the salon. At around 9:30, I started to get pretty annoyed considering that at this point, I had been just sitting there for an hour waiting for Yosie when I could’ve seen any one of the other hair stylists. But considering that my friend recommended I see Yosie, I wanted to try her out. At around 9:45, I got sick of waiting and decided to just leave, but then one of the other stylists talked me into waiting and sat me down in one of the chairs and decided to start pinning up my hair to get me ready so that way Yosie would be able to start as soon as she got in. Yosie didn’t show up until a few minutes after 10AM. At this point, I had waited for her for more then an hour and a half. She walked in and started working on my hair. I told her what color I wanted and showed it to her TWICE. She decided to dye my hair before cutting it since I also wanted a haircut as well. Now mind you, my hair is black and all I wanted was some brown highlights. I even showed her a picture of EXACTLY what I wanted. So she starts working on my hair and then asks me to sit under the dryer. After about 10 minutes of sitting there, she walks up to me once again and asks me to show her what color I wanted for my highlights. I pointed to it once AGAIN and I swear, I’m pretty sure she didn’t even look at what color I pointed to for the THIRD time that morning she was busy talking to her friend. She then had me move to another chair so she could start washing my hair and apply the hair dye that I thought see saw me pick out(after all, I only pointed to it about 3 separate times. How can you possibly mess that up?!) Afterwards, she took me to another chair to start cutting my hair. I couldn’t really tell much while she was cutting my hair since I had been turned away from the mirror but as she started to blow out my hair after she finished cutting it, I started to notice that my hair literally looked ORANGE in several places. And to make matters worse, not only did she NOT give me the highlights that I wanted, but she decided to do OMBRÉ when I had specifically told her that I wanted HIGHLIGHTSONLY!!! So basically the bottom half of my hair was a weird orangey color thanks to her lack of attention and sense of direction. When I asked her about it, she started making up excuses and saying things like, «well next time you come in, I’ll make it darker.» What on earth makes her think I’m going to come to her a SECOND time after she completely messed up my hair the very first time!!! She took forever to blow out my hair even though she knew I had to be out of the salon at 12 pm. She kept saying, «if I had more time, I could’ve done a great blow out for you.» Ummmm, don’t blame it on ME lady. If she had been on time and didn’t make me wait for an hour and a half, then I wouldn’t have had to rush her so I could actually make to work on time! To conclude my hellish experience, I’m just completely disappointed with this salon and the way my hair came out. I paid almost $ 200 for something that I completely hate. If it was any other woman, she probably would’ve just walked out of there without paying after having a mess like that on their head). But at that point, I was running so late for work(thanks to Yosie), I didn’t have time to argue and I just wanted to get out and catch my train to the city. Over the last few days, I’ve had a few people point out that my hair looks really dry and orange in several areas. I’m SO disappointed considering that I will now have to shell out even more money to have another salon fix the disaster on my head. Thanks for nothing.

I was honestly debating on writing this review, but here it goes. I went on a Sunday to get my hair dyed to a chocolate brown, my natural roots brown were growing in and my dyed my hair previously black(to cover blue highlights). I told the man in the front desk that I have black ends so I’m sure I’ll need opalex to achieve the color I want and he said yes they do have opalex and can help me. A friend referred me to see Karina who did her hair previously so I asked for her. Everything was going fine, she was first applying the opalex and was being helped by another woman at the salon, but that woman had to leave. So a blonde steps in to help. The black was difficult to get rid of so the blonde suggested when applying the color I wanted to add red to the ends so it could counteract my previous dye jobs. I understood and had no problem. She also mentioned a copper, where I specially said I don’t want my hair to be orange. After the dye was applied my hair wasn’t even washed with shampoo. When I finally saw my hair I was in total shock, even Karina was and felt completely bad where she wanted to try to fix it. I’m not the type to make a scene so I just wanted to leave. She blew dry my hair charged me $ 130(mind you I have a bob above my shoulders and did not like my hair) and wanted me to come back Wednesday, where I would be charged again to fix it. She seems like a nice person but I had a horrible experience

First if all it’s a beautiful new salon, and it seems that most of the stylists from The Best Salon that’s right up the street are working here now. I went here on Monday evening after calling to verify that they are still taking people after 6 to get my two daughters who are 9 and 12 a wash, blow dry, flat iron and trim. I checked in on Unilocal and then asked about offer of 10% off check –in offer was told that it expired I thought no biggie. On a whim I decided to get my hair done too(big, BIG, mistake more on that later) ! An important thing to note is we all have naturaly curly/kinky afro hair ! When we came in we where greeted and asked to sign in for service and hair stylist since I don’t get my hair done often I didn’t put down a stylists name I left that blank. Morena did my blow out, trim and flat iron. I know what I’m going to get when I go to a salon I have to ask them to adjust the way do things and have them get an attitude or be silent and hope for the best and it should not be that way ! I have to say I got pretty much what I expected which was a decent scalp massage with the wash, and detangling at the wash bowl that was not as gentle as it should be. When you are detangling hair you should start from the ends of hair going up to prevent breakage however, at most of the salons I’ve been too that memo was missed so you better make sure your hair is not tangled at all or it’s going to be breakage. I don’t get what’s so hard here my girls complained to me that the same was done to them during the detangling process ! So now on to the blow dry, too much heat the temperature is too high you should not smell burning hair in salon, the smoke detector should not go off like it did ! A couple of times my scalp got burned by the hair dryer ! Note to salon owner and stylists I know most of you have been doing hair for years because I’ve seen you doing it ok, you have to have respect and have knowledge of different types of hair and adjust your techniques for different types of hair I wear my hair naturally curly in an afro all the time wash n go, or braid out, but like to wear it straight once in awhile only like 2x a year tops do I get it straightened ! When I wash my hair it is susposed to curl right back up, well after I washed hair at home almost 2 weeks later I am shocked to find that most of my hair is severely HEATDAMAGED my kinky, curls are RUINED now I will be forced to cut off alot of my hair as it grows out ! I will be washing my girls hair soon and I already know I will see the same thing ! Needless to say I will not be going back here and if you have natural hair and care about the health of your hair do yourself a favor do it yourself, or find a natural hair stylist with good reviews !

The salón is beautiful and we got attended as soon as we got there. But. When it came time to do my nails 1 she left them kind of crooked and 2 she made my pinky bleed twice. I’m not sure if I wanna go back. Maybe to do my hair. But not my nails.

I came in this past Wednesday for my birthday pampering to get a simple wash and blow out, and was greeted immediately at the door by Andres. My coat was taken and hung up and I was whisked away to the shampoo station in the back. I received an incredible scalp massage that literally caused me to fall asleep!!! Lol(I wish I could remember the name of the amazing woman, she had magical hands). I then decided to get a trim in addition. But I was very nervous because usually when I say I «trim» at most salons, I suddenly have a pixie cut!!! But luckily Yoli took great care of me and did an amazing job. I also got a spa pedicure last minute and it was the most relaxing pedicure I’ve ever gotten. The atmosphere and ambiance was so relaxing, I didn’t want to leave! I no longer live in NY, but I will definitely come to only this salon everytime I visit!!! They’re reasonably priced and even if they weren’t, it’d still be worth every penny!

I had intentions of getting my hair done at a Dominican salon around the corner but I had to talk to the BOA on Sutphin to get cash, On my way back I saw this beautiful salon and I was drawn in. Once i checked the price for a wash and blow dry they were able to take me immediately. I was serviced by Olga. She was nice and quick. I would definitely visit again.

Day 2 of playing the jury duty waiting game and I decided I had to do something with myself during lunch. After walking by the salon and reading awesome reviews I decided to give it a try. I told them I had an hour and wanted to get a trim without washing my hair, manicure and my eyebrows threaded. Yvelisse didn’t hesitate and told me she’ll get it done. Yvelisse did my trim and it came out perfect. Unlike most of the scissor happy stylists I’ve come across, she truly understood the definition of «just the dead ends». She escorted me over to Ruman who then did both my manicure and eyebrows to perfection, and trust me, I’m not one to be easily satisfied. All in all, I had a wonderful experience, within a short time frame and on budget, $ 36 for everything! Definitely will be back!

I followed my stylist Xiomara from her previous salon to this location. The previous location wasn’t bad but this one, the Yvelisse Salon, took my experience to another level! From the moment I walked in I was greeted and welcomed by the guy at the register. He welcomed me w a warm smile, took my coat and guided me through the salon, which is beautiful. The ambiance is clean, modern and beautifully decorated. I was just there for a wash and set but he informed me of the many services they provide, from pedicures, nails, lashes, etc. All the ladies are skilled but have their areas of specialty. I love the way Jolie(sp?) takes the time to throughly wash, condition and massage my scalp! Feels like heaven… Xiomara styles my hair to perfection and never lets me leave unsatisfied. The prices are slightly higher than the surrounding salons but it’s definitely worth it. And they provide free wifi for their customers and take credit cards. Parking is challenging being that it’s located on busy Jamaica Ave, but all in all I would definitely recommend this salon to others! I’m going for coloring next week so I’ll keep you posted on how it goes;)

To start I am very picky over my hair. I’ve been going to the same person in Long Island for the past six years. I have crazy thick curly hair(and those who have it know that it takes a special person to cut it) But I’ve recently moved to Queens and didn’t have the time to go 2 hours out to Long Island for a haircut that I desperately needed. Unilocal brought me here where the first thing I read was«Dominican salon». Karina did my hair and did a phenomenal job. I was in/out, no appointment needed. I showed her a picture and she did it exactly how I wanted it. I would definitely come back to her. Only reason for not having five stars was when I went to pay. Unilocal advertises 10% off for first time customers. When I went to pay I told the woman at the desk it was my first time here and I came through Unilocal but didn’t get the offer. The service prices are reasonable but don’t advertise something that’s not honored.

The salon was nice and clean but my experience there wasn’t that great. I went to get my hair dyed and it did not come out the way I wanted, instead of having nice ombré hair I had fat streaks of yellow. To top it off I was there for over 6 hours. I thought it would be worth the wait but it definitely was not!

Wow. This place is awesome. The salon is immaculate! The owner is very nice and so are the stylists. I had a Brazilian Keratin treatment done here. I absolutely hated the process(a few hours) but boy did I enjoy the results. I’d definitely be returning. It’s been 1 month, 4 washes and my hair still looks awesome and healthy.

I am so glad Yvelisse is back in NYC! I started going to a salon in Manhattan when the previous salon closed and it just wasn’t the same. The women here are so knowledgeable and just plain good at what they do. I got my hair done with the owner Yvelisse and she cut my hair beautifully. I am so happy with my hair! For a wash, cut, and blowdry I was in and out in an hour and a half– can’t say the same for most salons on a Saturday.

Very beautiful salon, went for my first blow out and I have to say I’m impressed. I went on a Saturday and all though it was quite busy, I was taken in right away. The stylist that did my blowout was Karina, she was very friendly and professional. I got a mani/pedi as well and the girl did a great job. In addition prices are reasonable, so I would def suggest you give this place a try.

The salon is absolutely stunning. I’ve gone to a salon previously affiliated with the owners years ago but it’s great to see them back because management makes a big difference. If you want great hairdressers look no further, most employees have over 10 yrs experience and price fairly.
