Free sake with check in is always a plus. When you walk in its a little dark, but the scene definitely makes me feel like I’m in South Korea again. Menu is for your typical college student ranging from your basic sushi, ramen, and fried chicken. I would not recommend if you’re going on a date or family dinner. But if you’re looking for a decent place to eat and have quite a few drinks with friends the I definitely recommend.

I came here with my lady for the first time and we enjoyed it. The atmosphere was comfortable and the staff made us feel welcomed and were very attentive. The food was authentic and delicious. We’ll definitely come back.

No, no, no, absolutely no. What a mistake this was, never have I stepped into a so called«Japanese» restaurant and have them mess up so royally… it’s just unheard of. Did I try the wrong things? Nothing that I tried even resembled the level of expertise that I have read in some of these reviews… Out of everything ordered(squid with ponzu sauce, sushi selection A, atka mackrel, spicy tuna roll, and unadon), the unadon was by far the best… and it came with an overly salty sauce. The mackrel was clearly Korean influenced. along with it being old, the squid with ponzu sauce was below average, with really chewy and mushy pieces in a salty salty sauce, the spicy tuna roll featured old tuna with a subpar spicy mayo. the worst I have ever had! The saddest of all, howver… the sushi combo was laughable! Obviously frozen and thawed fish with the worst rice. Honestly, the rice had no texture or flavor to it at all. With sushi, I’m not extremely picky, and I even enjoy Chinese made sushi, but this was completely hazardous and unacceptable from a so-called«Japanese» place. Overall, I’m very disappointed that I was steered so incorrectly, any place that royally messes up such standard dishes, and has the audacity to call themselves japanese, should lock their doors with their pride still intact.

HOTANDNEW on Unilocal?!Then that’s a must try! Given the name of the restaurant, I got the impression that this would be a Japanese joint. But it was weird that K-Pop was being played and the management is also Korean. So it wasn’t what I expected and it was more of a Korean/Japanese fusion place. The menu only added to my confusion. My advice would be to have some descriptions for the sushi rolls and to organize the menu a bit more. I felt like the menu was all over the place and there was even a Chinese dish. As for the food, my Paradise Roll was INCREDIBLYGOOD. Highly recommend it. For $ 11 it was pretty worth it. It consists of avocado, eel, crabmeat, and salmon.(I could be wrong since there wasn’t a description, but I think that was it) Another recommendation, please cut the odeng into smaller pieces!!! The fishcake was literally the whole chunk, about 4 inches long, making it extremely difficult to eat. The yakitori could use some work also… our unagi skewer was very dry and minimal flavoring. We also ordered a Fried Squid Leg(the name was something Korean on the menu, again very conflicting), and it was also in large pieces so it was really difficult to eat.

Free small sake for check-in offer? I’m in! It went down smooth and dry and was enough for 3 shots. Most of the food that we ordered blew my mind away. We had and LOVED the beef tataki(chilled medium to medium rare beef slices), takoyaki(very soft octopus balls), agedashi tofu(thin outerlayer is fried), and the soba buckwheat noodles that literally came on ice. The cold dipping broth for the soba added a light, subtle flavor and the dashi sauce for the tofu was so flavorful yet clean and refreshing. Even the chips and light cheesey salsa sauce we were given at the beginning was good. I thought it was clever of them to include on the menu what were the most popular/recommended items. There was one dish we didn’t like. It was the beef that came in a hot skillet with bean sprouts and sesame seeds. It was bland and tough to chew, most likely overcooked. It was also tiny for $ 11 – 12(about 8 bite size chunks). Hopefully they add a dessert menu soon. I would love to see what they come up with! They also have a small sushi and sashimi menu. Most of the food here is meant to be shared(it’s an izakaya so think tapas but bigger portions). This place works great for both a meal or an in between snack.

At first, I was skeptical to come here because of the lack of reviews but I’m so glad I did. The prices are super reasonable and everything was tasty. The portions are fair and small enough to let you order several other dishes. My table ordered the beef tataki, potato croquette, spicy tuna roll, a special roll(i dont remember the name), deep fried softshell crab, and grilled squid. Everything was exceptional. The potato croquette was crispy and not overly breaded. The beef tataki had hints of miso ginger and wasabi– super flavorful !! The grilled squid was nicely seasoned and didn’t have a burnt taste after being charred. The rolls were also very delicious. The fish they used was firm and did not fall apart. You might have to get some assistance to figure out whats in each special roll since they dont come with descriptions on the menu. Hope this restaurant stays the way it is. Can’t wait to come here again :)

I’ve been this place several times already and never let me down. The place is contemporary Korean-Japanese fusion Izakaya. The thing I most like about this place is they offer vareity of menu selections and the price is decent. Their sushi and sashimi are extraordinary and everything I’ve tried is fantastic. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so vibrant and I’ve been always having fun there. I can’t wait to come back at this weekend.

I had this place bookmarked for a few days and since it was close i gave them a try. I ordered 2 things off their menu which was the seafood yaki udon and something that consisted of fish rice cakes, meat, shrimp on a skewer. Their yaki udon is literally tasteless and bland i couldn’t believe that the teriyaki sauce was lacking in this dish. They called it «seafood yaki udon», yet the only seafood i received were two measly pieces of squid. The other dish was much worse. It was literally unseasoned food cooked on charcoal with no sauce. Despite the horrible food we wanted to finish at least half because it was around 30 but it ended up in the trash.

We were shopping at the liquor store on the corner and decided we were hungry. I saw Kyo Izakaya across the street and suggested we give it a try. We were VERY happy that we did. It was 4:30 on a Tuesday so we were the only ones in the restaurant. The manager/waitress sat us and was extremely attentive. There is a fish tank with lobsters, eel and other fish. Our twins went over and were amazed. The waitress went with them and explained what everything was in the tank. We started with potato croquettes, agedashi tofu and nasu dengaku for appetizers. Croquettes were delicious, fried to a golden brown and well seasoned. Tofu was lightly fried, soft and silky. The nasu is roasted eggplant with a sauce. It was smokey, sweet and delicious. Our twins shared a salmon teriyaki. Nice crispy skin and very good teriyaki sauce. My wife had the fired rice soup and it was great! Crunchy rich with vegetables and seafood are in the bowl when broth is added. I had the Kushi yaki. There were about 8 skewers of assorted meats and seafood. I was especially surprised by the eel. I am not a lover of eel and this was sauced perfectly and a good consistency. My Kani Tempura, or soft shell crabs, were some of the best I have every had. We are so happy we stumbled upon such a great restaurant in our backyard and can’t wait to return!

Nice interior, great food. The menu has a lot of variety and there’s a great selection of sake to choose from. The waitress was friendly and gave us free peach soju she was working on to put on the menu. We ordered yakisoba, chicken wings and beef tataki. While we waited for the food, they gave us chips and guacamole & maybe within 10mins the food came out. The beef tataki was chewy and delish. Wings are super crispy but more diner/bar style rather than the typical korean gyochon. Yakisoba was flavorful but not spicy like the ones I’ve had in the past. Will be returning!
