Good food, atmosphere and service! I went there the first time only for drinks and they were delicious. Yesterday we decided to go to «that place that makes delicious drinks» for dinner and we were blown away! I ordered roasted chicken and my husband pork tenderloin. Both dishes were delicious. My only recommendation is to have less chicken and more gnocchi on the side! We will be returning to this place without a doubt!

It has a lovely pizza oven and nice ambiance. Unfortunately, the good stuff ends there. The food took forever to arrive and was hardly worth the wait. The margherita pizza was soggy and sorely lacking cheese. The stromboli was small, but that was probably a good thing, as the flavor was flat. The fish and chips was overly greasy and made my wife sick. My two year old enjoyed his pizza, and didn’t even have to wait for it to cool down, as it came out cold. The waiter was nice and personable, but he wasn’t enough to make up for a miserable experience.

The food was overall ok. We got calamari, pollo pizza, and the braised beef(which was the best of the 3. Calamari was basic not much flavor. Pizza definitely wasn’t that good. Not good flavor combo on this pizza. The beef is what the waitress told me to order and I was surprised when I tasted how good it was. I ordered a vodka and soda water and I got just a vodka with water… Sorta I chill. Service was decent and the view was nice outside. I wouldn’t come back but it was a nice place to stop while in town.

Happened upon this place on our way from Boston to Burlington. It was a few miles off the highway and out of our way but so worth it! The soup of the day was Apple Butternut Squash and it was amazingly delicious, even for someone like me that doesn’t typically enjoy soup! My husband and I split the NE Braised Beef which was AMAZING! The portion was huge and we easily could have stopped there but had already ordered a pizza as well. It was also delicious but we were both so stuffed we hardly ate it! Our server was friendly and knowledgable about the food as well as the local sites we should check out before hitting the road again! What a delightfully unexpected little spot this was! I’d highly recommend it!

Dead on a Saturday for lunch-that should have been a sign. 20 minutes to get the most basic green salad. Had to get up and get my own silverware. Descriptions of menu items did not include ingredients I don’t eat. Overpriced.

I very rarely give a restaurant a 5-star rating, but River Stones absolutely deserves it. I’m confused by the terrible reviews, and considered avoiding it all together. I’m SO glad we didn’t! My first impression of the menu was that it had something for everyone; my favorite part was that it was a farm-to-table place, utilizing local ingredients, which is surely something to be proud of. We started off with the wedge and garden salads, both super fresh and crunchy, with homemade dressings! I love that kind of attention to detail. My boyfriend got their pizza with arugula, prosciutto, and goat cheese, plus the deep fried mac n cheese with duck confit. I don’t like duck, but he raved about his meal well into the next day! I had the maple BBQ pork tenderloin, which was tender and juicy, paired with grilled red potatoes and a watermelon, mint, and micro green salad dressed with lemon and thyme. I wasn’t sure how these items would go together, but they were a fantastic. I was too hungry to take a picture, which I regret! I also regret not saving room for dessert! Our waitress(Ashley, I think), was amazingly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and the several beers on tap! I hope we get the opportunity to visit again in our future travels– River Stones, come to CT!

Great food– farm to table style menu with very good prices. All the food is locally grown and you could tell; the salad was vet fresh with great tomatoes. The bacon blue pizza used fresh squash and zucchini. Great beer selection. Definitely try the parsnip cake dessert– very unique and amazing. Staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgable. Will definitely come back on our next trip to Vermont.

Tried it again a year later and they have a new menu focused on local ingredients. The kids loved the fries and my salad was very good. The pizza is very good also.

I was a bit hesitant because of the low rating… then after experiencing a wonderful meal with exceptional service realized some of the past reviewers are disgruntled leftovers from the past! The change was refreshing and the food outstanding! My plate was clean! The selection of wine was fabulous! Try it it is awesome!

We have been going to Riverstones(formerly Firestones for years) and always enjoyed it. The restaurant now has new owners and a «new» menu. My wife and I each had a salad and were told that it came with Balsamic vinegar dressing. Well, the dressing was vinegar but certainly not Balsamic. I mentioned it to the waitress who was obviously new and really didn’t know what we were talking about. She said she would mention it to the chef. The salad was basically inedible. My wife ordered the Mediterranean pizza. The artichokes on it were from a jar and so salty that she barely ate anything. My chicken panini was barely ok. Nothing was worth the price.

I just housed an entire pizza from here, a rare feat for me unless I’m absolutely starving after a workout or something. I mention this because a) the pizza came to almost $ 17 after tax b) felt like there was nothing in the box and c) I was not starving. The pizza was just meh, besides the size to price ratio, I wasn’t blown away by the crust or the ingredients. The Vermont chevre paired well with the proscuitto but the pieces of meat were far too large and I kept ripping them off the slices. Then, all the other ingredients followed along with it until I was left with a dinky(and TOO thin in my opinion) crust. I’m still trying to pinpoint what it was but my takeout experience was completely underwhelming. Yes, I stopped in on a Tuesday night but it was DEAD. I get that this area isn’t heavily populated… but where is everyone? I didn’t notice a single diner; just a handful of waitresses, a bartendress and the chef. I’ll be giving them another shot since I’m working in the area over the next few months and its right down the road from where I am staying. I hope for a better experience next time around because I’m not knocking down the almost impossible-to-open, 15 foot wooden door to get back in here.

Friendly folks, nice décor. Great looking menu but the real thing wasn’t as good as I was expecting. They have good intentions but fall short in the end. Maybe a new chef?

I’m torn because it’s such a great spot(or used to be) and the waitress was SO sweet. But our experience was just under okay. I feel like the food is overpriced for the quality. We came in and it was empty and I feel like the vibe from the people working there was«Oh no, customers came in, ugh.» So much so that we talked about going somewhere else. But we were too lazy. Haha. I mean, they were closing in a hour so it wasn’t like we came in 5 minutes before closing. Luckily our waitress was friendly. They have great hot chocolate! We ordered ribs, turkey club and pizza. The pizza was just okay. I remember it being better when it was firestones. But who knows. The ribs were good as were the fries. The sandwich was too large and some of the turkey and ham bits were fatty. But it was okay. Not great. But okay. Desserts: My Mapple Pie was raw in parts. I literally took a spoonful of raw dough. It was SO gross. But the waitress was great and took it off the bill. We also got the sundae and flour-less chocolate cake. Both good, but not really worth the price. This could just be a not-so-great experience and hopefully when we come back at Xmas time it will be back to what it used to be. But we’ll see. It’s kind of a bummer because I used to love this place and it was the first time I’ve been here with the new management and name. Not impressive. It was a slow night so maybe it was just like this because it was so slow. Let’s hope.

Tried lunch here out antiquing. Once was enough, the service was good– toobad the food did not match. I ordered the quiche special, chicken with sundried tomatoes. It was served lukewarm, with an odd white sauce on the plate and tasted bland. The side salad included limp lettuce and a vinaigrette lacking in oil. Surprisingly, the iced tea was strong and very good. The hostess seated me and handed me a menu, then the server took my drink order and described the specials. Neither pointed out the other menu on a card on the table– a totally different Italian lunch menu, which the group at the next table ordered from. Would have been one star except for the good service, drinks and food arrived promptly.

It’s so unfortunate… This place just reopened a few months ago as River Stones Tavern, the former Fire Stones. Things looked promising for the first couple months and the reincarnation had an interesting menu although perhaps too Italian in theme. Everything we tried on our first visits after re-opening, primarily pizza, was full of flavor, included fresh ingredients, and was executed wonderfully. Apparently either this place has yet again changed hands or they just decided a talented chef is an unnecessary commodity for a restaurant. We recently ate there and literally everything was tragic besides the staff and the beer. It seemed like there was some hope of this place recovering and becoming a desirable dining option, but the recent changes have convinced us otherwise. Don’t waste your time or money, there are better options for the same coin nearby.

They need to make this place more approachable for lunchgoers — leave the fancy risotto to Simon Pearce. I thought that they revamped their image with the new moose logo but the only casual thing you can order is pizza. Worthy Kitchen is opening soon and I would much rather go there…

We visited here yesterday. We were seated inside behind a huge hot burning pizza oven on a sticky day. We asked to be moved outside and were accommodated. Glass of kendall jackson was $ 12! When i asked if it was a good size glass i was told it was, but for $ 12? Calamari was pretty good, as someone from the Ocean State we have calamari pretty often. It wasnt the worst i have ever had. My daughters burger was the best meal we had. However they charge $ 2 extra for bacon and forgot to put it on but didnt forget to charge us. I got scallops and shrimp with linguini and tomatoes. It was very bland. My husband got hunter style ragu sauce with ravioli. Ravioli was good but the sauce was gamey. When i mentioned the no bacon the waiter took that charge off as well as her soda and my wine was charged at 8.50. With this location right near the gorge they could be hopping but they need to discover spices
