Love the avocado burger, taco salad, and French onion soup! I have never had a bad meal here. The service can be slow sometimes, but I am never in a rush so that does not bother me as it might with others. I am not a big beer drinker, so I cannot comment on their own brews, however I know people who are fond of the Box Car Wheat.

Looking forward to a nice dinner for Mothers Day. Arrived at 445 — waitress asked us what we would like to drink fairly quick and served fairly quick. Ordered dinner — I ordered bake stuff shrimp was told it was Sunday only potatoes available were roasted potatoes. I said I didn’t like them and she suggested nothing. My husband ordered swordfish he also can’t eat potatoes so he was suggested rice. At this point I said nothing. Waited 50 minutes for our meal. My back stuff shrimp was a casserole not baked stuff as traditional shrimp is served which I thought ok won’t squawk. However the shells were buried with the shrimp underneath mounds of stuffing saturated in butter and an odd taste. The string beans were luke warm. The roasted potatoes were crunchy. My husband’s swordfish was good he said as well as the nice rice he had but the beans as well were warm. The owner came over as we first got our meals and ask how they were and we said we just started eating. He came over after and asked again and I said the shrimp was not baked stuffed but a casserole and the shells were still on the shrimp which were hidden in the stuffing that was overloaded and saturated with butter. He said his main cook went home so he is assuming the other cook thought that was the way it should be served. He offered to get me something else. At this point I hadn’t tasted the raw potatoes. He than said he would buy us a round of drinks. But we didn’t come for free drinks we wanted food we could eat. We watched several tables not happy. I realize it was Mothers Day but you should be prepared. My worse point was that in order to eat the shrimp I had to dig them out of the overly buttered dressing and try to take shells off so that the five little shrimp I had might fill me up. This will be our last trip to this restaurant. It was our second time and we were certainly disappointed. Its too bad as you can see they were definitely not able to take care of the food orders. They should stick to appetizers and beers.

You know, any place that serves sweet potato fries will get at least and OK review from me. The Crossings has a great location, good enough pub food and okay parking.(Really, any place in downtown Putnam has okay parking, if you’re willing to walk a little bit. We park across the train tracks where there’s often room except on the busiest days.) The food was pretty much what we expected and, having been three-four times, I can’t say that we’ve ever had a problem. We were warned about the in-house beers and tries a few, then haven’t had any since. Fortunately, they have several other offerings from local breweries.

I was initially excited to try something new, but had heard mixed reviews from friends of friends… I decided to give The Crossings a shot anyways. Well, I hate to admit it, but they were correct. Parking was atrocious. it looked like the place was off the hook, so I thought that was a positive thing. It was definitely packed inside! The hostess told us that there would be a 25 minute biggie. We stood at the bar for 5 minutes and the bartender never made eye contact. The hostess came up to us and brought us to our table. «That was the quickest 25 minutes I’ve ever waited» I remarked. «Yeah, my boss says to tell everyone it’s 25 minutes. I don’t know why.» Does this seem odd to anyone else? I ordered a Captain’s Daughter, which had the highest ABV on the entire beer list. The house has no heavy hitters? Pretty much everything ranged in the 5 – 5.5% ABV. My dining companion had a house Irish stout. It tasted like the way nail polish smells. «Hawg wings» were ordered to start, and I chose Memphis BBQ rub. I do have to say that though these ribs were incredibly tender and fell off the bone, the bbq taste was not there. I expected more flavorful seasoning, but it was very meek and mild. I ordered a rail tasting of 4 brews to accompany my California chicken sandwich with lemon aoli(I can’t turn down an avocado). I picked kale chips with sea salt for my side. My dear dinner date ordered the salmon with miso ginger sauce, and double veg…5HOURSLATER… no, not 5, but an incredibly long time passed before the food came. So long, that I was able to grab a waitress and order shots of Don Julio reposado(don’t judge, it was a Friday night). They were out of the Don, so I went Cabo Wabo reposado. She brought out Blanco. Really? I’m not one to return booze, so I imbibed anyways. But really, if you’re offering multiple tequilas, have some knowledge of what you’re serving before it gets to the customer. I digress… so anyways, the food comes out and looks good. Looks can be deceiving. Kale chips were crumbly and tasteless, IDK where the sea salt was… The lemon aoli on my sandwich tasted like pure pepper, and was painful to eat. We switched plates and the salmon was only moderately better. The miso ginger sauce was too salty! I really wanted to like this place, but with average beers and sub-par food, I can’t say I’ll ever be back. Truly a disappointment.

Food is basic pub food with a lack of pizazz. For a brewery, the beer is also lacking anything special. We were hoping it would be better as the atmosphere was wonderful and the location on the railroad crossing is awesome!

I love the old train station location, but they haven’t done much to play off that location aside from making the foot rests on the bar look like pieces of rail. It really just feels like a big sports bar that happens to be in a train station. The house beers aren’t particularly good with the primary difference being their color. There are some other breweries represented that I would recommend you stick to. We didn’t order any food, but seeing some other people’s food come out convinced me that this was probably a good decision, it looked like the standard fare you’d find at any chain sports bar.

My first visit and also my last! Decided to stop in with the family for a bite really hoping the negative reviews I read here would not apply to my experience but I was wrong! Ordered the bowl of «Chowda» for myself, got some chicken tenders and fries for the little one and my husband had the hamburger sliders and fries. I must say he liked his sliders and fries. My daughters chicken tenders were just blah. 3 small thin breaded strips of chicken with nothing to dip them with but ketchup unfortunately she didn’t care for the fries. The chowder soup I got I sent back to the kitchen because it was cold. Got it back 2 minutes later«warmer» then when I sent it back, thick with potatoes and with no taste at all! Just a thick white bowl of yuck! I’ve had can clam chowder taste better Though my husband did enjoy his meal I must say I will not be returning.

Entered The Crossings at 6:45 Sat night. They said there was a 20min wait for a table but the bar was half empty so we opted to sit there. That was fine. We ordered drinks, no problem. It was about 25 min before the overworked bartender took our dinner order though. 7:30 some friends of ours happen to enter the restaurant and sit next to us at the bar. My beverage was about empty, I was asked if I wanted another, I did, about 2 min later I received it. Fine. 7:35 our food finally comes out. We ordered a burger and veggie wrap. Both were fine, nothing special. Fries were pretty decent. My husband finished the rest of his beverage just after the food was served. An assistant, who had appeared behind the bar, quietly cleared his beverage and walked away. He was not offered another. It took us 15min to flag the bartender down just to get him another beverage. He had to drink some of mine to wash down his food while he waited. After finishing our food it was quite clear that it would be a while before they would ask if we wanted the check(we were never offered another beverage or dessert), so we just put the credit card out. Our friends had since ordered but it had been 45min for them too and still no food for them. When we left they still hadn’t been served. Ultimately we spent one hour and 45min just to have burgers. That’s far too long for burgers and the service was far to slow and lax. The bartender was by herself behind the bar much of that time, not only taking both food and drink orders from the people sitting at the bar, but also people shouting over our heads(not very classy, by the way), and the drinks for the waitstaff’s tables. There should’ve been at least two full bartenders behind the bar. A man who seemed to be an owner or manager walked around some, got in the way, and was mostly useless. I saw a waitress putting together some of her own drinks on the far side of the bar, which included putting her dirty hands into the container of cherries and put cherries into people’s beverages. That sight made me thankful that we hadn’t ordered anything with fruit in it or from that waitress. Gross. The food here is okay. Not great. Not bad. Just okay. The service, however, leaves much to be desired. It seems like management needs to learn to actually manage so that this restaurant can run more smoothly. They’ve been open long enough now that there shouldn’t still be big kinks like this.

Good burger and tasty beer that is brewed onsite. Only drawback is band playing was loud and because of it there really was nowhere quiet to sit and talk with friends. Worth a second visit to try other items.

My family ate at The Crossings after a long day of antiquing. We were greeted promptly and seated and our server came over almost immediately. A nice selection of beers and cocktails are available. My husband ordered the Naughty Nurse — a nice amber ale. All of our food orders were good from the clam chowder, taco salad, quesadillas and wings. We were in the mood for casual pub food and they delivered. Our only complaint was food could have been hotter. Service was prompt and friendly. Would return when back in the area.

One of my favorite restaurants in Putnam. Their drink and food choices are various and delectable. The staff is incredibly friendly and they take care of customers well, especially return customers. The atmosphere is unique and enjoyable. Though the service is sometimes not the fastest, it is of the highest quality. I couldn’t recommend any local restaurant higher than The Crossing.

Really liked the food and atmosphere here. Manager(or owner not sure) came by when we were eating to check on things, nice touch. Would definitely go back.

If you think that pub classics like nachos, caesar salad, and a burger are impossible to fuck up, The Crossings is here to prove you wrong. To start with, these were the worst nachos we ever had: They arrived at the table covered in spray cheese. As in, fake cheese. Neon orange goo. I’ve never eaten anything like that in my life: The idea that a restaurant would serve that is shocking to me. We apologetically explained to the waitress that we wouldn’t have ordered them if we realized they weren’t made with real cheese, and she very kindly offered to bring us another order with«just cheddar cheese.» When the second order came out, there was barely any cheese at all. We were so hungry we just sucked it up and ate them. I didn’t realize a caesar salad was so easy to fuck up, either. I’m used to a whole grilled chicken breast on my salad nicely sliced. What Crossings serves is overcooked cubed chicken the same size as the tiny croutons, and barely any of it, on top of carelessly torn romaine leaves and almost no dressing. My friend described his burger as «not bad but not good either.» I left feeling like no one in the kitchen cares whatsoever about the quality of the food they serve or the ingredients they use, and that I completely wasted my time and money. The one kind thing I can say is that our waitress was exemplary. We tipped her well.

This was our second lunch here with my mother-in-law. It’s got easy access for her wheelchair and roomy enough to fit her chair at a table without being in the way. My husband loved his bowl of chili, although the vegetarian version on the menu is no longer available. He and my MIL had the chicken quesadilla. They were filing and well seasoned. The menu has limited options for vegetarians, but their in– house veggie burger is really yummy and satisfying. I remembered from our first visit that although the menu describes it coming on a bed of greens, it actually comes on a bun unless you request otherwise. It’s a black bean burger(yah– no soy!) that comes with guacamole, cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion! There are delicious white or sweet potato fries, but I had kale chips. On my first visit I’d had salted kale chips. They were crisp but way too salty. The manager seemed genuinely appreciative of that feedback. This time I tried the garlic pepper kale chips. They were delicious, although still a bit salty!

Had lunch here today on the scenic outside patio and found Crossings to be restful, relaxing and a bit like having lunch at your friend’s terrace. I got the lobster roll which was flavorful and lobstery. I wish it came with fries, but it came with a bag of chips. The raspberry iced tea blew me away … iced tea with pureed raspberry, slices of lime and mint! My fellow diners had the chicken Caesar salad and the tuna panini, which they all enjoyed. Service was great. A very nice dining experience.

I went to the Crossings Restaurant & «Brew Pub» last night(Friday). We arrived shortly after 6pm and it took almost an hour to get seated and another hour to get our food. The Crossings restaurant definitely has a lot of history — at one point it was the train station that my relatives came in on when they moved to this area ~80 years ago. The old building was purchased and the new owners look to have done a good job at cleaning it up and making it look pretty nice. The kitchen, much to my dismay, apparently doesn’t have their act in order. The restaurant seemed busy, but not unusually busy. At least, not enough to warrant an hour between ordering and receiving our order. Afterall, it was just burgers and a taco salad. The food was okay, my portobello burger was small but tasty. The sweet potato fries were good. We also order kale chips, which were good but heavy on the salt. The worst offender was the beer. I ordered their«Belgian» beer — first off it was not a Belgian beer. It was more like a really bad dark American lager — maybe closer to a Budweiser Select. Anyways, lesson learned, their beer is heinous. Unfortunately, their guest taps were not much better either. Bottom-line: this is not the«brew pub» for you if you’re a craft beer drinker.
